This is an excellent example of the concept of diminishing returns. I'm NOT saying this to cast shade. The expensive tire setup is demonstrably better, 5 hundredths can be the gap between winning and losing on the drag strip. That said, those 5 hundredths of a second cost $9000. Something that'd be very cool to see is that once both vehicles are in their complete form, to switch back to the stock wheels and tires and run times. At that point, is when the true difference of stock vs $1,000 vs $10,000 would be on full display. Cheers Donut Crew! This is an enjoyable series.
@DjDolHaus862 ай бұрын
Which is better is never in question, the series only seeks to illustrate whether it's worth it to you. For my level of interest and finances it's never really going to be worth dropping an extra $9k for a potential 0.05, for a professional then it's a no brainer to buy the best of the best.

I have a set on my 78 zephyr still 4 lug 28 spline axles and 7.5 rear end. Stock C4, stock converter, 70 351w 4v heads, 351w short block from a 75 van, edelbrock performer rpm, 750 Holley double pumper, mild comp dual energy cam and long tubes. Ran a best of 12.699 @106.3 launching at 1000rpm and shifting at 5100. Pulled the top end apart to swap to an air gap and comp magnum cam, gasket match the heads, and swap to a 2800 stall converter then covid happened and I might finally put it back together here soon. Hopefully the converter will help the 60' times.

It shows a .086 reaction time, 1.935 60', 5.296 to the 330', 8.128 to the 660 @ 86.78MPH 10.587 for the 990/1000 and final of 12.999 @106.30. 25 psi in the front tires and 12 in the rears. Looking at it I bet low car has 3.55s where high car has 3.331s. Rear gears makes a big difference and I'd imagine high car would be faster with a set of Mt et r's.

For the next season of HiLow, I would like to see them take two trucks/bigger SUVs and modify them to tow more weight

Running all the different tires on low car was awesome, giving us a lot more variables is great. Legit way to help us make real built decisions.

Really appreciated the comparison on this one, with all the middle ground options. Great work!
