hey, old drag racer and aircraft mechanic here... I would double check with weld on installing the ARP beadlock bolts.... its been a while but in pretty sure you want to use anti seize, arp bolt lube or something. with slicks , because they are changed out quite often...and because aluminum and steel are dissimilar metals... might save you from "gacking" up the threads in the wheel.

This is an excellent example of the concept of diminishing returns. I'm NOT saying this to cast shade. The expensive tire setup is demonstrably better, 5 hundredths can be the gap between winning and losing on the drag strip. That said, those 5 hundredths of a second cost $9000. Something that'd be very cool to see is that once both vehicles are in their complete form, to switch back to the stock wheels and tires and run times. At that point, is when the true difference of stock vs $1,000 vs $10,000 would be on full display. Cheers Donut Crew! This is an enjoyable series.
@DjDolHaus86
@DjDolHaus86 2 ай бұрын
Which is better is never in question, the series only seeks to illustrate whether it's worth it to you. For my level of interest and finances it's never really going to be worth dropping an extra $9k for a potential 0.05, for a professional then it's a no brainer to buy the best of the best.

@@chsi5420 That's what I'm thinking as well, which is why a stock vs. upgrade comparison when the cards are fully done up would be interesting. Gut-check level reaction says the gap between $1,000 and $10,000 will significantly widen. And that's "significant" in the sense of maybe a few tenths.

X275 unlimited class has some wild cars. And an old school poor man's bead lock is you drill your wheels in the bead area and use short screws to just bite into the bead. I have a set on my 78 zephyr still 4 lug 28 spline axles and 7.5 rear end. Stock C4, stock converter, 70 351w 4v heads, 351w short block from a 75 van, edelbrock performer rpm, 750 Holley double pumper, mild comp dual energy cam and long tubes. Ran a best of 12.699 @106.3 launching at 1000rpm and shifting at 5100. Pulled the top end apart to swap to an air gap and comp magnum cam, gasket match the heads, and swap to a 2800 stall converter then covid happened and I might finally put it back together here soon. Hopefully the converter will help the 60' times.

@@arkhsm it was a surprise, but I guess being gutted to just a driver seat helps. My father told me that every 100 pounds of weight removed would cut 1/10 off the 1/4 if all else stayed the same. It shows a .086 reaction time, 1.935 60', 5.296 to the 330', 8.128 to the 660 @ 86.78MPH 10.587 for the 990/1000 and final of 12.999 @106.30. 25 psi in the front tires and 12 in the rears. 16:49 one time my buddy and i were working on his car and i overtorqued the caliper mounting bolt in the front. Had to drive 2 hours across town to a dealership that had the bolt. He kept trying to tell me it was fine and he would drive home and take it easy. I was like dude...the amount of physical force applied to these things in operation, you'd be lucky if all that happens are ruined pads but i can definitely see your entire front hub grenadingonce the bottom bolt breaks loose and jams the caliper in motion. $20 now for a bolt or $2000 in about 20 minutes in parts.

Great video guys and girls. You really re-captured that hi-low magic and also the fun that you can have with cars, as long as you are doing it with your friends, then it doesn't matter what part of car culture you love!

i don't think a lot of people know this but when you had the stock tires on the moment the tires made any smoke you stop the burnout and run them like that. Street tires heat up quick and anything past hurts grip. With the Drag tires longer burnouts are a good thing

Idk if it was rear sidewall height that helped the high car that much it was probably the combination of Skinnies up front and lighter rear brakes and the extra sidewall. Removing Rotating mass helps a ton. That's a great combo
