You know Theodore. I too find these stories relaxing and even comforting. Even though they are about grizzly crimes and heinous murders they were simpler times. I too am not impressed with today. Hang on man we’re all in this together

And the cigarettes.. you know Chesterfields we’re one of the strongest cigarettes made .. Camel and Lucky Strikes straights (no filter) Pall Mall , Kools and Old Gold .. all with no filter if any kind .. the kind that stains your fingers and always left a little Tobacco stuck in your teeth. I had a neighbor who lived into his upper 80’s . Smoked Chesterfields for 50 years up to his last day. Life is truly a shake of the dice . So glad to still be in the Vertical Club 👍🏼 and have Dragnet…Dom Da Dom dom 😄

Your neighbor was lucky. Most people who smoke will suffer for it eventually. Yes, life is a gamble, but some thing we know , like cigarettes are poisonous, and we can avoid them, increasing our chances of staying healthy and vertical.

How many lives were affected and cut short from cigarettes, Jack Webb died in his early 60's Ben Alexander died at only 59 from a heart attack while his wife and 2 younger children were camping and it was 5 days before his family returned home and found him. Cigarettes undoubtedly played a part, and in the last three years since i started listening to this program every night to help me sleep, and hearing these voices, it just makes me dispise tobacco that much more RIP Jack Webb, RIP Ben Alexander I've appreciated your help in getting to sleep so many nights both entertained and without meditation, you'll forever live through these great programs......

Now you have me feeling guilty... 🚬. But.... they were smoking unfiltered “straights” and I think Joe smoked 2 packs a day ....oof a Mia ... and the booze ...sadly I am still a Tobacco slave. And I am using filters on them ..extra filters. We all shake the dice one way or the other and I need to put my dice down. Happy new year ...so glad 2020 is almost over.🙏🏼. Oh and how we love our Dragnet 😎 dom da dom dom ..

10 to 40 a day !! The normal amount . And this stuff about doctors and no affect.Ha ! Chesterfields we’re one of the strongest cigarettes made , straights , no filters . Very hard core . Stained your fingers yellow and always had a bit of Tobacco in your teeth. And to call those mild ….unbelievable. But .. as bad as they were I had a. Neighbor that smoked Chesterfields for over 50 years and lived up into his 80’s🤷🏼♂️.life truly is a shake of the dice 😎

Love how those cigarette ad reads rush through the word "that" when reporting on the findings of the inspecting doctor regarding their product. Talk about shady.
@garyfrancis61933 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand your point. I expect “that” was an unstressed preposition where “a” was reduced to schwa. This is common to modify the cadence to trochaic rhythm. This is normal prosody in American pronunciation. Iambic rhythm is used for emphasis or questions as in interrogative circumlocution.
