You're not kidding, I was watching this when it was on tv and never missed an episode. You can't deny the fact that "dragnet" is still better than any program today!

It really is, especially the early series. It' nuts that a show in the early 50's makes modern policing shows look absolutely absurd and fantastical.

I totally agree with you about the old dragnet series, Jack Varick! They were the best, unlike the rubbish on tv today which I DON'T WATCH AT ALL!!!😀

Agreed - and Adam-12, the Dragnet spin-off, is equally good as well.

Times have changed, and it's been great to see them do so. Especially where drunk driving is concerned. Dragnet changed, too, but it was never as good as the old Dragnet.

James Anderson, who played Daniel Miller, specialized in playing dastardly low-lifes (he played Bob Ewell in To Kill a Mockingbird for god’s sake!). His characters almost always ended up with their toes facing skyward. Kind of nice to see him playing someone who is not guilty for a change!
