Dragon Age 2 : How to get the Champion Armor

This short video goes over where and how to get Hawke's Champion Armor in Dragon Age 2.
Champion gloves - Automatically received at the start of Act 3.
Champion chest piece - Defeat the High Dragon for the quest "Mine Massacre".
Champion boots - Taken from Huon in the quest called "On the Loose".
Champion helm - Taken from Grace on the quest called "Best Served Cold"

For those that did not get drops at some battles... Know this now: Save before EVERY battle, if the boss doesn't drop the armor piece.. just kill it again.

If you're a mage, I recommend being a spirit healer with revive. And I recommend a DPS built Fenris (To take out the smaller groups of dragons), a tank built Aveline (to take the aggro) and Varric to do damage while you do side damage, slowing with elements, and healing. I tried doing this with Anders once, instead of Fenris... That... Didn't quite work... But this is a recommendation. And by the way... While fighitng the dragonlings, you can't dodge the dragons fireballs... -.-'

@MrBiscuit360 For the mage its 31 willpower and 31 intellect. The rogue is 31 dexterity and 31 cunning. The warrior is 31 strength and 31 constitution. I hope that helps. :)

That High Dragon fight is one of the hardest bosses in any game ever, even on Casual i sometimes need two attempts to kill it... The first time i went up against it, it killed me almost instantly, and to this day i can only kill it with a team of Hawke (obviously), Isabela, Aveline and Anders...

I just finished the first mision on act 2 and i am 58 hours in this game. SIde quests are really nice. I enjyed doing them all. How people complain that this is shorter than origins? This is a huge game too.

Bloody hell! this game is massive! i´m at the very end of act 2 and I swear that gameplay time marks 101 hours. I know i took my time and playing on difficult, but..just great. Anyway, like many people i thought i miss the armor because i killed 1 or 2 dragons allready and thougt that was the end of the game, now i just discover i still have to play act III. Have to say that act I felt a bit "long" (getting money for expedition) but the history has turned really thrilling now. Bioware rules!

if you want a excellant class choose the Rouge then give him the Duelist and Assassin specializations, youll be landing criticals every hit and insanely hard to be hit, I soled the whole game as that.

There is a quest before you become champion for hubert where you slay a dragon but its not the same quest. This quest you can only start after you become the champion. :)

@bioshockfoxx or whatever it's acc called champion robes , gloves etc And that's not the high dragon, you fight the high dragon after you defeat the Arioshock If you go to the bonepit after you are champion the quest mine massicure immediately begins, then you kill the dragon and get the chestpiece the rest are where level10reviews shows in the description

@Blad3dRage there is a high dragon in act 3, i believe that you have to kill the mature dragon in act 1 in order to have the quest to kill the high dragon

Thanks for helping, I now have the full set. Anyway one thing I'm disappointed in Dragon Age 2 is once you complete it You are locked out of everything. They could atleast let us travel to different places and fight monsters and rebattle the various optional boss monsters. All we can do is travel to our house and the Black Emporium shop. Not so sure about the prince DLC since I don't have that. I really hoped DA2 would have improved the nothing to do once completing the game since DAO. Mass eff

I had no problems at all with the High Dragon....2 ranged 2 melee, but I kept myself (2H Warrior) at a distance most of the time and took care of the ads.

I believe a much better staff is droped when you do the quest forbidden knowledge. After you kill the demon Xebencheck she drops probably the nicest staff in the game. Ever since I got it I played through the rest of the game with it. And when you kill the demon you get the exorcist achievment I think.

How many others didn't get a quest from Hubert? I was in the midst of Anders final side quest when I bumped into the high dragon. Is anyone else disappointed by the Hood of the Champion? The Staff of Parthalan is awesome, but I feel like it should have been something that could be scaled up, similarly with many of the weapons and armor from Origins could be scaled up.

@XxSP3CTR3xX By the time I had beaten the game, I had maxed out elemental, put 3 points in force mage and 3 in blood mage. By choosing blood mage as a specialization, you gain a passive health bonus. You also get an ability that takes health from one of your companions and heals you back up to full.

@silentmelody12 You can load your post campaign save but it's pretty pointless right now since you're limited to roaming around in Hawke's Estate. My guess is that you would have to wait for more DLC to come out before continuing. In the mean time, I suggest going back and beating the game with a different class and on a higher difficulty (playing Hawke as an archer is pretty fun). :)

There are two dragons the one you want champion armor is a huge ass dragon you don't go in the cave is the second mission you do for him at this point you should own part of the quarry

Does equiping just one piece give you the full armor on the character? Or does it show the armor with pieces missing?

Slaying the Highdragon is hard, but not impossible. First time I played this game I accidentally found the Highdragon by doing Anders' side quest and got my ass kicked and the didn't bother trying again. But in my other files I decided to fight it, best way to defeat it is to really stock up on all potions, and take Anders with you since he is the only mage that can heal and revive people (unless your character is a mage with those abilities) take 2 melee and 2 ranged companions.

@Nibiru272 By the time you get the full armor set, the game is almost completed unfortunately. Keep in mind that you CANNOT start getting ANY of this armor until AFTER you have dealt with the Arishok in Act 2 (year 4). I was pretty disappointed myself since the trailer for the game shows Hawke with the armor on while fighting the Arishok. :(

@taj561 That one caught me out the first time too, until i realised that when he does that enormous radiant attack, i just had to run behind one of the columns to avoid it. After he has done that, he just sits there, letting you land hit after hit on him... The high dragon is pretty easy on it's own, but when all the smaller dragons spawn, it's easy to get swamped by enemies

@AndrosForever Finally, someone who thinks sam as me. Everything you said about the story. It really is, more mature and beliebeable. The characters are much more developed. The only people i can see why they complain are hardcore rpg pc gamers, they took away that massive zoom out for tactics. Anyway, i´m playing on xbox on difficult and using tactics all time so, you still can be tactic. Positioning is very important on difficult levels. Only complain...some re-used out of city environmentes

The Best way to beat the high dragon is to have anders in your party (since he's the only one who can revive dead party members) and equipped with a ice weapon since ice deals more damage to the dragons keep anders fighting from a distance with the element weapon skill active so every1 can deal ice damage also make you have ALOT of mtyhal's favors in hand. like he said make sure your well geared OR YOU WILL PWNED with a capital P i was lvl19 when i beat him good thing i had a ice axe equipped.

@billybob3856 I went a two-hander and it's great :) Up to you though, if you go DPS, you're pretty much stuck with Aveline as your tank. However, if you want to tank, you have a wider range of spots in party to fill.

Had Hawke (a male mage), Varric, Anders, and Aveline. Wasn't prepared- actually went to Bone Pit by accident at the time. When I showed up it told me the place had been overrun by dragons. I have 10% fire resistance on my Hawke, that was all. Unprepared as I was, I managed to kill this guy in a good 10-20 minutes (which is good time compared to later dragon fights in other games). I just don't understand how this is such a difficult fight. I was even playing on normal difficulty. Is it harder on higher difficulties or.....?

I know I'm a year late but I was with my mage, varric, isabela and fenris when I did this, was on hard mode, and still did it in about 20/30 minutes lmao 💀😭

@AndrosForever You sure is a bug? there is one "ability" (that i didn´t like) that a warrior activates and everytime she gots hit (aveline in my case) her resistance goes up but velocity goes down wich is something ridiculous when many enemies, aveline fights at real slooow motion. I changed my companions abilities and myself a few times. There is a potion lets you reasigned all points from scratch. That potion was great as sometimes you choose abilities that you don´t like afterwoods.

Defeated the high dragon on normal using Hawke( 2 handed warrior(,Aveline,Merrill,and Anders. Used to 5 healing potions, and 6 Stamina Droughts. Loot was worth it

First I stocked up on Stamina/Mana potions, health potions, and fire bombs, then I fought him. And while the potions were on cool down I just ran in circles around a pillar so he couldn't hit me. BTW the fire bombs stun so thats a good way to kill him also. Throw a bomb, use stamina/mana potion, then beat the crap out of him.

@patrunka94 you dont get any of the armor pieces until act 3 so the dragon you kill in act 1 has nothing to do with the later dragon dropping the armor

God dammit I tried to fight the High Dragon, once and got my ass handed over to me on a Shimmering Gold platter, and then said fuck it no way I will even try to fight it, but had I known that that was how to get the Champion armor I would have tried to kill the dragon even if I needed 2 days to do it. yes i went to him in act 1 and he gave me that quest to go to the bone pit I didn't get any such armor relating to my mage. As well as i know the champions armors will always suit your particular class. Also you make it seem like you don't get it until act 2. or does that guy make you go to the mines multiple times so i can get the champion's armor because in act 1 i am pretty sure i faced the high dragon which was i tough battle but still not extremely difficult maybe if i put it on nightma

Ive got the champion armor finaly and i killed the high dragon and it was a long fight but it took me one try and i am a warrior and you look cool with it all on if you need help try attaking the dragon from behind it takes a bit longer but it works an im level 50 using a glich :) vote up if you like my commennt

I wanted my Staff of Parthalan to be powerful enough in Act 3 so it goes with the Mage Champion Armor like in the trailers, but bleh, it's only useful in the beginning

@x15justice I believe you, Dragon age origins is a super massive game. That thing about the voice was a let down yes, and the poor graphics on console too. I miss things from origins too, the sandbox feeling, the woods and outlands to explore. The caves in DA2 are beautiful but re-used all the time. That´s bad, especially in a game that 90% is in the city. Has been lost a bit the sense of scale. I loved from origins that you could stop any companion at any time and have a cinematic chat.

@unholydude101 That wasn't it. It was a Mature dragon. Hubert will tell you to go back and help out because there was a "Bigger" Dragon. Atleast I think so, but i imagine you won't be punished for doing a sidequest.

It's a different quest. The one you most likely had was "The bone pit" you need to have "Mine Massacre"

DUDE u have no idea how lucky i was yesterday when i killed the high dragon. My whole squad died lucky i had the grenade thing that revies fallin teammates and i ended up killing it with Varric with range. I highly recomend range with tanks

they are actually very easy to find its nat like the juggernaut armor from da first one just when you kill poeple look throught der bodies ps the high dragon is very hard have a heap of potions and dont stand in front of him keep moving around him

@DarkChaoto Bioware didn't gave the players much exploration rather than staying in one city. It isn't an adventurous-game promised by them. Bioware was explanining about Hawke's life as he raise to fame in the very city he came in. A very personal and privatized story but some said the story isn't nice. I completely disagree,Bioware explanined much of the Qunari's culture and the Arishok wanted to start an invasion. The Prince DLC wasn't really special,same old quest
