I got to level 14 of a nightmare playthrough with this build. I kinda moved on to other games but keep meaning to get back into it. My character was just starting to really deal out some lethal damage at a distance. The main set-back is that you cannot take much damage yourself so need to keep on your toes.

@@smackedinthejaw Im kinda wonderin how can u play on nightmare with this build honestly cos this build is partywiper at best. :D So much friendly fire to onepunch whole squad to shreds. I was testing the build at lvl 7 u have potentionals to wipe whole squad with trials on and it s not even wort usin for stamina reasons and enemies got like thrid HP at max with explosive shot. So unless u usin it with poison weapons as opener to setup some aoe dots it s not even worth considerin usin most of the skills. Im runnin sniper build myself rn and I didnt even put most of my skillpoints at archery tree at all. Mostly usin debilitations and shadow abilities and it s workin okay. only two skills from archery u can use at nighmate are longshot and leapin shot. everythin else is kinda situtational or friendly fire.

@@DemonicPresence666 Well u can turn off friendly fire, at that point u re not really playin nightmare though. U playin normal with harder enemies. Real nightmare should and allways been in past with friendly fire included, so when somebody sellin u milion damage build without friendly fire included it s like sellin NBA2k builds without achievin anythin just trailers of somebody else dunkin over u all the time. If u really wanna achieve anythin and feel completed that u wanna feel like u accomplished somethin urself u should allways turn on fiendly fire. It will test u, it will annoy u, and it will kill u more times than not but it s really very rewardnin to accomplish the game without exploits and overkills becasue some skills are broken without friendly fire. So if u wanna play without it it s really ur choice. But for us hardocre nightmare fans and grinders fridnely fire should be on default as were in previous games and RPGs that came before.

Fun fact: Leaping Shot can be dangerous sometimes because you can jump backwards into pit of poison, fire, or beyond boundaries of an area. Try to position yourself well to avoid unnecessary damage.

You can also use it to climb up places where you're not supposed to, sometimes there's loot there.

Yeah, that's what you'd think. Metal spawns in places you cannot reach, it also spawns too far into the rock that you can't reach it from time to time.

The upgrade for full draw puts the target to sleep. While the subterfuge skill line has a passive that auto crits any one that is asleep. It's a great combo.

Well honestly u wanna kill right away anyone that u shoot first so full draw is kinda waste cos u got more damage from longshot with max range than full draw and u dont need to waste stealth. Full draw is slow and not entirely reliable. I ve got more better results from longshot that full draw most of the time and the stamina dependency is in longshot 100%. like at higher lvls it s maybe okay but at lvl 7-10 u cant just blast ur whole stamina bar with one skill and then run as headless chicken to wait for a bit stamina replenish to be usefull again. So yeah my max skills ends at leapin shot and the passive on right side then Im maxin utility trees. and honestly if u debuff enemies faster and in wider range u can save more stamina and dispatch them quckyl overall than spend 90% stamina on one enemy kill him right away true but hen u re kinda useless for a bit.

+KineticGTR your build videos have proven to be very useful for the whole DA:I community, personally i've learn a lot thanks to them, and we all appreciate the time and effort you've put on such epic task; but what if, in order to mix things up a little (both for you and for all of us), you include a couple of videos about other interesting topics, like: - Weapon & Armor Crafting (tactical approach + what stuff you actually use on your builds) - Valuables: "do-not-sell" list. Other than research items and things with some description (i'm still afraid i'll end up selling something important at some point). - In-depth Dragon-Slayer guide (how to prepare for each dragon, and in which order you recommend to kill them ) - War room tactics (tips, priority missions) - A beginner's guide (not an in-depth walkthrough... But a tactical approach) on how to prioritize missions and exploration. This game is huge... and sometimes is so easy to overlook important things, or spend hours in a non-critical area... i'm sure a couple of videos covering these (and other) topics could be very useful, and i'm sure other experienced players will also help a lot in the comments section! One of my favorite classes and builds. I like to drop three into dual daggers to get the extra crit chance from flanking, and you'll also be getting the 50 stamina regen by default which, coupled with looked like it hurt means stamina really is never an issue. This is especially true after using a stealth leaping shot or hidden blades as those crits will essentially give you a stamina free ability. I ignore explosive shot and upgrade full draw leaping shot and long shot (the aoe for that is actually pretty large so you'll hit a lot more targets than you'd think). Stealth is key of course so I grab it with the upgrade and cheat to grab evade and get the activated dodge from that tree because I think its fun more so than anything :). Then run down the left hand side of the Assassin tree to finish it off. I believe I have my gear specced to where I'm doing 175% crit damage and around 28% crit chance but I use the dalish scout armor (because of the look) and both of those could be cranked up even more using the superior prowler armor. I crit full draw for 12k so nearly every late game nightmare enemy will drop with a mark of death and most will go down without it. Anyways thats how I built my Archer and I'm loving it so I thought I'd share :)

I speced my main as an Assassin Arhcer and I like it a lot. I always open with cloak / full draw and take a huge chuck out of the enemy health (if not kill them outright) straight from the beginning. You can do some high dps with this build. It may not be QUITE as good as the dagger assassin build, but personally, I find the archer more fun than daggers. I'm looking forward to the update video. Well, there are essentially only two ways you can conceivably play an Assassin specced Archer, and this is one of them. This one in particular tends to work fantastically well throughout mid-game and relatively well in endgame. The spec used in this video does contain a few things I wouldn't put in the spec myself, but this is up to personal preference; for example, not everyone will sacrifice a slot for poison blades. The key to the Assassin spec really lies in 3 aspects: The synergy between Assassin and Subterfuge and certain abilities elsewhere, your stat distribution (Crit Damage > Crit Rating), and your party setup, though that last one will depend on which spec you end up with. There's a mid-to-long range option, which is essentially a variation to the build outlined in this video, or the short-to-mid range option, which is the ...well, other option. In my opinion, I find it to be the better one, but this is up to personal preference, really. ranted, this is mainly due to the tendency of hidden blades to miss at mid-to-long range unless a target is completely stationary. Short range option pretty much revolves around critting so often with autocrits that you should never have issues with stamina or cooldown timers, especially when you trigger a masterwork hidden blades effect. This can be done by going into stealth and using Hidden Blades, Leaping Shot or even Throwing Knives from Stealth, combined with the passive effect that adds even more armour penetration in subterfuge. The actual damage this will do, provided you build your stats accordingly, will be more than a full draw can actually do, even with all potential modifiers in place (except for throwing Blades). The only difference (range notwithstanding) is that full draw can be upgraded to induce sleep, which a passive in the subterfuge tree can take advantage of. Long range builds pretty much involves the same strategy, but with fewer, more powerful hits; hidden blades and full draw being the primary abilities there. Poison effects are arguably more useful in the long-range option to add some more sustained damage where needed. Interestingly, Long Shot (plus upgrade) is present in both builds, considering its consistently high damage on multiple targets at mid-to-long range. Explosive shot is actually an option too, which fewer people seem to use; I am running some tests with it at the moment, to see which is the better option for AoE. Finally, I would also not be too quick to dismiss Knockout Bomb. it is arguably one of the best CC effects in the game; you can use it at range, and it's AoE. It also synergizes well with that same passive in the subterfuge tree. It is optional, though.

Strafing shots is the bread and butter of archery builds. Repositioning while attacking is invaluable and also makes the build a lot less movement restricted (more fun). This means you can fire while getting to higher ground and/or flanking area, the damage you make while moving outshines any other ability as the alternative is stop attacking and move into position before you continue attacks.

As this is an Assassin Archer Guide I want to share a combo that you can do with only a few points in the trees, it works best against large targets such as dragons but its great to nuke anything What you do is you pick up the 10 stamina per crit passive along with the auto crit from stealth, pick up stealth as a skill, leaping shot, mark of death, and hidden blades+upgrade... In this order you do this... Mark of death (Make sure you stand right next to the enemy here) Stealth Leaping Shot (If the 12 shots of this connect thats 120 stamina returned and its maxed out again) Hidden Blades From there you can continue spamming skills or active Mark again and proc the bonus damage On my weapon i had 10% chance to proc hidden blades as a masterwork and with 12 hits from leaping shot and 9 from hidden blades this can proc so many times

not sure if you tried but if you set off the mark early, it does more damage than just letting the timer run out. I generally don't bother with ordinary shots and just set off the mark early.

Mark of death, full draw, hidden blades, long shot, mark of death for huge damage and instant kill most non-boss enemies. that's 1600% + 6 • 300% + 800%. Two times, that's a total of 8400% weapon damage.

Here is what I use: First, Mark if death followed by hidden blades to initiate attack, then hook And tackle From sabotage to get close And follow up with leaping shot to ensure all 12 hits connect. Right After you land, activate fade ability cloak of shadows. After you are behind your target, use precision targeting throwing blades from sabotage and follow up with full draw to finish off If initial assault didn't kill the target. This is my build so far: Archery First blood Death from above Leaping shot (upgraded to rolling shot) Striding shots Full draw Sabotage Caltraps Looked like it hurt Poisoned weapons Hook and tackle Cheap shot Throwing blades (upgraded with precision targeting) Assassin Hidded blades (upgraded with overkill) I was never here Knife in the shadows Mark of death Cloak of shadows

Always Blackwall in my party. A mage (if not my main character, then Solas) and Sera as the Rogue. Those were my usual companions in my first playthrough with my Reaver Warrior.

I recently fell in love with the party that allowed me to kill my first Dragon. Blackwall, Sera, Vivienne, and my 2h templar Inquisitor. Blackwall is so unkillable. He stayed at 100% health and 100% guard the whole battle.

If you don't prefer micro managing it seems to me that Cassandra has "the best" tank AI. I never control my party members and she has never failed med (0% Stamina Reserve, Follow Cassandra). Preferred Shield Wall, Challenge and Call to Arms and Let he keep shield bash and disable everything else. Pick up desirable passives along the way. I personally think Fade Rifts and Demons are easy enough so I haven't given her any Templar abilities yet (lvl17 Nightmare). I have Vivienne as a full blown KE in my group, focus on Spirit/Fire. The AI does a poor job, but at least she hardly ever dies. The last spot varies, depending on whom I'm doing missions for (inner circle missions) but I prefer to pick my party by whom I like rather than focusing on roles. The game is ridiculously easy anyway, if you're crafting your own gear. At the moment I play an Assassin but I don't think the Specialization matters too much. Any of the three will work just as well and Artificer is most likely the best build by the numbers. Seems most fun as well, so I might even reload a pre-specialization save and go for that one. If I'm not playing Rogue, Varric is always in my party as he's invaluable at higher levels.

To destroy dragons, I bring Solas as a Rift Mage, myself as a Rift Mage and Dorian as Fire Necro Mage and Cassandra who I built using this guide who barely ever takes any damage allowing all ranged to burn to delight. Basically it's what works best for you.... Use these guides to spec then see what combos really fit your play style. Thanks to KineticiGTR I can now strip Guards off enemies in less than 3 secs before it used to take a massive amount of time. 3 Dragons down since I followed these guides with no wipes.

Blackwall is hilarious, an incredible tank, Cole is a fucking amazing damage dealer, but incredibly squishy, so better give him the evade ability to quickly move out of danger, and have at least 1 mage in your team to keep up barriers. so basically, have 2 damage dealers having one of them use utility in combination, a tank, and 1 character dedicated to utility.

JRsoFLY123 On potentially hard fights, yes, it's safer that way. If it's just a regular group of enemies that you know won't be too much of an issue, then just go to the wheel menu (where you get potions and can give commands) and with a target, select "Attack my target" and your companions will attack. The only problem with this, your ranged attackers will almost certainly pull aggro first. So if your tank isn't fast enough, the enemy may go to them and slap them around a couple of times before the tank gets aggro properly.

How do you do the back flips? I've seen people doing the aerial dodges with the archer etc. My guy is only level 5, but all he does is dive/ roll and that's only because I selected that ability under the stealth tree.

Assassin Archer rocks though my build is different. Also I have great gear. It's pretty much stealth, full draw for a 9k crit (Anything but bosses usually dead right there.) stealth again from the cooldown reset, rinse and repeat with hidden blades. Fun to solo rifts like that. :D I avoided poisons and caltrops as they just werren't needed. Crazy damage as-is. :D

At higher levels toward "end game" yes, Poison isn't as useful. But it's still a great skill with it's upgrade in early/mid game I think.

I wonder what a poisoner build would be like, using the left side of the sabotage tree. You could really make poisoned weapons useful then. Also its possible this build uses way too many offensive abilities in the archery tree... maybe only getting leaping shot and explosive shot? I'm going to try that and see my results

There's a weapon mod that kills with this weapon explode for 75% weapon damage. So say you use full draw with poison and get a kill on an enemy in a mob, the others are going to be hit for about 1700 or more, and then poisoned. Something to think about.

I've tried a poison build and it's just not enough damage. DoT is great and all but trying to build around it is a losing battle in this game. If there were poison runes or a poison fade-touched items there might be some possibilities, but a poison-based build just doesn't work. However, if you could build an entire party around CCing for DoT....might be something there...maybe? But in my experience, things are usually dead before getting even half the potential damage from a DoT.

you have to make it to skyhold first and then once there your first time go anywhere else on the map for example the hinterlands. come back and if you go to inquisitors path or something like that the option at the very top of your journal you will find a quest called specializations for the inquisitor. activate this quest go to the war room and then you should be good to go it takes zero time which is great and is a real game changer. Hope this helped.

Why not evade? its one of the best skills out there specially if you wanna capitalize leaping shot. (think of leaping shot as a shotgun blast). Also longshot (600% at 15m) no lance upgrade since enemies lining up without moving is rare and lining them up is a waste of time.

This is a million years later but Dual Blades/Assassin is great. I'm doing that for my inquisitor, and I'm actually not that squishy. The key is equipment and heavy use of the evade skill.

Choose what type of rogue you want to be, a dual dagger or archer, choose that class and stay with it. Don't choose to be a archer if you want to use dual daggers, vice versa

The specialist quests blocks you from adding points to other areas and is available only at lvl 13, he could use the dupe glitch on the amulet that gives points but then the dmg you see isn't going to be decent at such a low level. So in summary, he has to level up from 13 to 25 Everytime he makes a video on each spec

He doesn't though, every spec is available for him to show off, because every character in the inner circle has each spec. For example in this he is using Cole to show off the Assassin, he could buy the respec amulet and give Cole daggers and spec his points into those and boom different build. Only the Inquisitor cannot change the spec they choose in the save file, but for build videos it doesn't matter.

Well, I do like your builds a lot, I'm experimenting some on nightmare and getting good results. But I have some questions. I have tried building groups and skills centered on combos, and it was a pain to play, too much micro, and little result. I would like to get your opinion on it. KineticGTR if you go on the storm coast even after beating the game, along the coast ull find those giant red tempolar bosses and darkspawn hillock or w.e they are called. Also try not to take a full party with you.

The weapons and armor in DAI are almost all random though. So it's almost pointless to me to talk about what exact gear I have since mostly everyone only has what they're able to find. Basically, I just use whatever is best that I have found.

1. Is there an achievement for beating the game on nightmare 2. the story mission where you find cole is so hard!!! I needed to change the difficultly. If there is an achievement can i get it doing that.

I played with a fire+rift mage, and it was pretty fun. The damage wasn't as amazing as an archer, but it did the job. I found rift to be very straightforward. A pure melee knight-enchanter healer was fun to switch to, and provided great support for the party.

MartoLun try the lighting rift mage its so much fun and it really does tons of damage I am really serious plus the area of effect damage of those two is litrally op including mana rengative in like 2 seconds

I've found the artificer spec to be fun as hell and really kicks ass against dragons. Though this is just my opinion.

Artificer is like having a permanent fire flask once you upgrade your crit chance up to 40% or higher

I played all rogue classes and i find artificer the best. With high crit rate team you can spam all skills. Its like a never ending fire flask. The best is elemental mines can also crit giving you full stamina and procing guard on hit and skill reuse time. Its not only the best class its the most fun. People that have not used the class to beyond level 14 dont have a clue

Assasin can do more damage but thr tempest is more archery and has a great focus ability

tempest is more of a burst build on single target and a sustain against groups. assassin is the reverse.

Patrick Dave De Manuel And Artificer is actually better than both in terms of damage due to crits making you basically always have abilities up and tons of stamina. Less flamboyant, perhaps, but more effective in terms of damage. Although, you can finish the game on Nightmare without ever picking a single Specialization ability for any class.

Hi kinetic i hope this helps but the upgrade of leaping shot also works on your other bow skills such as full draw. I suggest you skip the right side of the bow tree and pick the left. Currently level 14 and i am hitting 4k crits. Poison is useless
