Cole is so sweet. A little odd, but sweet. When I heard him say the name "Rhys", my heart sank. Rhys is the son of Wynne, the Mage companion in "Origins". She was such a great character. I wish she didn't die.

She was living on borrowed time and was old to begin with. Great as she was there wasn't much time left for her no matter what. I'll miss Wynne though. Maybe she'd've made Alistair those socks one day XD.

This was a good scene, but up until Cole's loyalty mission, I didn't think much of him and then one moment, in my opinion the absolutely best moments in all of Dragon Age I ever witnessed was when Varrik was with Cole and he is encouraging Cole to finally kill the Templar that killed him and when Varrik handed him Bianca in order for Cole to shoot him. I instantly marked out because I was like "HOLY SHIT! NOBODY TOUCHES BIANCA!" And for Varrik to do that was not just a testament to Cole as a person but to Varrik. I was so very happy at that moment. It got me emotional. No tears but I loved it.

I wish the options were "Romance Cole and make him happy as human" or "Befriend Cole and make him happy as spirit". This scene doesn't make it seem like he is happy, he is trying to hide his fear, he actually acts naturally in his spirit self and appears to be satisfied.

Macaulyn97 actually, no. This scene actually makes him happy, not scared. He opens up to the inquisitor about his fears and understands that he doesn’t have to be scared.

He's not sad, Cole even corrected the inquisitor that he wasn't hiding his fear by laughing

Personally, I like it better if Cole remains a spirit. It _is_ what he is, after all, and there's nothing particularly glorious or beneficial about being a human. I agree with Solas, in that it would be like twisting his original purpose. Like forcing a man to become a woman, or a black person to become white. It just isn't who they are. Cole is more useful as a spirit, certainly, but most important, he's happy. I think it's better that he embraces the world and the people in it as the spirit he was born as, instead of feeling the need to anthropomorphize himself to be a part of it.

Everything changes, not even stone is unwavering over time, turned by flowing time and the elements, by plantlife and animallife into something else. Lava turns to stone, to pepples, into sand. It still stays the same if you look close, deep enough...and it is also different than before. Hot and flowing, cold and stone, stone turned into houses, or sand made into glass. Are you the same as when you were born, or have you changed and become someone else than before? What purpose had been seen in you, and is it still true? Or have you walked other paths, maybe those where others told you not to, because they would change you? No thing and no one stays the same. How do you know Cole is not happy? How would you know that turning more spirity, would not change the Cole from what he has been? It is even there, turning him, either more human, or more spirit...both is changing, neverlasting.

Birdsandmore "How do you know what he was, is, or should be?" Well, he _is_ a spirit, of his own admission. As for what he _should_ be... that's up to him. Those changes you mentioned were not by choice. Most of the things you mentioned also do not have life or consciousness. I'm not the same person I was when I was a child, certainly, but I am still a person nonetheless. Little changes happen over time, but we don't stop being people. If you keep him a spirit, he tells you he's happy. If you make him human, he tells you he's happy. So luckily, neither choice makes him unhappy. But I personally prefer not to change his form. I don't think he needs to be human to be a part of the physical world.

the most important thing was that Cole didn't want to be corrupted by Corypheus. Either by making him human and therefore unbindable, or making him spirit, so he can use the amulet to prevent it, he's happy either way, just for different reasons.

But, can you call happiness happiness when you never face sadness, or when you don't even understand what happiness is? He seemed empty as a spirit, just drifting and isolated, and I felt bad for him. He probably felt more dead than happy. Being a human isn't so bad when you have someone to help you through the darker nights to embrace the coming sun rise, and in that lovely spindle of friendships surrounding the inquisitor, Cole would have that. He can learn, and he can grow. He has the choice to move forwards and do with himself as he likes as a human.
