I hate how muscular video game creators make all the male chars. It shows they have no grasp of the difficulty and dedication that goes into building a physique. Do they have any idea how long it takes to naturally look like dorian in this video? Dorian the gentle rogue doesnt strike me as a meathead that does full-body workouts out for several hours 3-4 days a week, so just why the fuck does he look like one?

See.. the thing I dont like about all this is that Dorian really gets to show his perspective of events in inquisition, but there is no level headed, independent viewpoint to counter balance it. They dont justify his fathers reasoning or explain that he may have not meant that he didnt want his son to be gay, but that if he was to marry for the sake of family, a business relationship if anything. At least that is how I would have justifies it, and in turn that makes Dorians views a dramatic overreaction and misconception of intent. It also makes him seem kind of self absorbed and childish, for not taking the time to understand his family or consider their role within tevinter politics. ... sigh... Why bioware... why did you skimp out on the writing just to pander to the gay audience...

And for the record im not ignoring the whole blood magic thing, im just pointing that they did not even try to give his father a realistic reason for his motivations, and no emotional investment in his son- his role is simply to be the father that doesnt understand his gay son. And that is lazy, and very poor writing. None of his actions are forgivable or understandable for that situation.

While I don't disagree with you entirely, I feel there are some things you need to acknowledge. I agree that this could've used a more evenly structured perspective, allowing the player to look at both parties and address their grievances accordingly. Thing is, that isn't the point. This is supposed to be an olive branch to players who can empathize and relate to Dorian on a personal level. Children running away from, or getting kicked out of, conservative households because of homosexuality happens a lot in America and in other countries. So for this game to offer a comforting pat on the shoulder and a reassuring "you're okay", is that really that much to ask for? With the typical the amount of pandering BioWare already does on average to straight male players, is a little sympathy subplot for gay people and gay issues really such an issue? Even when it doesn't distract People get riled up these days about gender roles and sexual orientation and other stuff and usually end up in a pissing match that resolves nothing. I'm not one of of those people and I certainly don't think you're one of those people either. Could this have been more expansive and detailed and more inclusive of both viewpoints? Yes, but that would require BioWare to lavish detail on this one character who isn't even the main focus of the game. Dorian is not the main character, YOU are; and to show how sporting BioWare is, they actually give you the option to reject Dorian, or simply ignore him. By allowing that, they avoid the problem of telling the the player what is and isn't correct, thereby allowing the player to express their own viewpoint. As it is, Dorian is simply an angry man, hurt and frustrated. Whether you want to extend a sympathetic hand is up to you.

Peter Hanson Fantastic commentary. Also Bioware writers seem committed to an asymptotic work ethic - they're always seeking to improve the stories they put out, especially re: underrepresented or previously/habitually misrepresented minority groups.
