Hardened Leliana is a lot less bloody then the epilogues in Inquisition suggested. She doesn't even alright kill people, she tricks people into fighting each other.

For me, Cassandra made a better choice, since I felt that getting rid of the Circles completely and letting mages govern themselves was a bit too much too fast. Not that I agree to them completely, but I feel that mages need somewhere to safely learn magic without templars breathing down their necks. Cassandra at least brought reform without TOO much change. Though Leliana is still arguably the best choice overall. Anyone's better than vivienne.

***** For me there are just a number of huge problems with having Cassandra named as the Divine. First off I don't believe that reestablishing the Circles is a good idea, for starters its slavery if you think about it even if her vision of it is more benevolent. While I agree Mages need a safe place to learn without Templars breathing down their necks I would much rather let the College of Enchanters have a chance independent of the Chantry given the Circle's poor track record. The second issue is that if made Divine she reestablishes the Templar Order and potentially the Seekers of Truth depending on how you resolve her personal quest, like history this game does a good job of showing that putting a lethal weapon into the hands of someone who believes that everything they do is in service to their god(s) is incredibly dangerous (which is one of the reasons I elected to disband the Inquisition). And perhaps my biggest issue is what happens after Cassandra's tenure ends? Keep in mind that at the start of Inquisition Cassandra is in her early 40's at the youngest (I know she doesn't look it but still) which is rather old for this kind of setting. While I doubt Cassandra would allow or engage in such abuses herself I worry what her successor might given that the faith teaches that mages and non-humans are inherently corrupt and sinful, even if she changed that the prejudice is still well ingrained. Furthermore there were a number of Codex entries that seem to hint that initially the Circles, the Templars, and the Seekers were far less corrupt and abusive but overtime the latter 2 become far more brutal turning the Circle into a form of glorified slavery. With Leliana formally abolishing the former and declining to reform the latter 2 organizations; even if her successor wanted to engage in those kinds of abusive practices, s/he would find themselves in a much more difficult position since they would have to effectively put the toothpaste back in the tube as it were. My biggest concern is that putting Cassandra on the Sunburst Throne might be setting Thedas up to repeat the Mage-Templar War at some point in the future. If given the choice I probably would have abolished the Chantry all together but with Leliana in power there is at least a chance it can be an organization that deserves to exist. All that aside I couldn't agree with you more that anyone is better than Vivienne given that she is at best a borderline sociopath.

+ThatGUY666666 LOVE LOVE LOVE this analogy, and this is pretty much the reason I always choose Leliana. My only concern was that an unhardened Leliana would be too soft on her opponents otherwise, so I begrudgingly left her hardened. It makes letting go of the mantle of power as Inquisitor much easier, because I trust her to make the vicious, necessary decisions that I would have made as Inquisitor. Lady Lavellan does not joke around anymore. Not since the Qunari peed all over the carpet. Also, being a puppet to the Divine sucks in general, because my position is now essentially a paperweight in the capital of Orlais. Fun? Not really. I want to punch the shit out of my stupid, stupid, Elven God-Boyfriend-Rebel-Shithead for thinking it's okay to satisfy his survivor's guilt by blowing up the rest of the world. What's your Inquisitor like?

Negative Character Traits: Extreme anger and abandonment issues, can be very vengeful under certain circumstances, willing to entertain extreme solutions that involve killing ALOT of people, and his objectivity is threatened whenever the Chantry is involved. Brief backstory: The youngest son of the Trevelyan family, Falke was originally intended to be trained for the Templar Order until it was discovered at age 6 that he was a mage. His mother was...less than pleased with this development. His time in the Circle was...traumatic as was his time fighting for the Mage Rebellion. I would say the Dragon Age character he is most similar to in terms of personality would have to be...Solas. That said there are also a number of differences; the biggest one being that Solas seeks to restore the past while Falke desires to create the future to help the world move forward.

+TheRageyCanadian Actually, I find Vivienne to be better than Cassandra, even if I ultimately support Leliana. I mean, it says that Cassandra introduces reform... but I really see no evidence of that. She brings back the Seekers, the Templars, the Circle, all of it, and just expects them to play nice this time. But with the Vivienne epilogue, it specifically mentions that she leashes the Templars while giving the Mages for freedom, responsibility, and opportunities to rise within the Circle. This stops the Templars from stepping out of line while making the mages less likely to rebel if more of them are satisfied with the system. Meanwhile, having a mage as the Divine sets the precedent for allowing more mages to hold political office, who can make life better for their fellow mages. What we need to accept, however, is that at any point, any of the three divines' actions can be undone by a successor. With Leliana, all you need to do is wait for the mages to mess up again, so that public opinion will turn against them. With Vivienne, just wait until a Divine inevitably gives the Templars more freedom, which will in turn lead to them restricting mage freedom. And with Cassandra, just wait for history to repeat itself.

I won’t lie, one of my biggest issues with Trespasser is that they never really explain why Alistair is all for getting rid of the Inquisition if he’s king. Leliana is either our spymaster or the Divine and is a staunch supporter of the inquisition. She’s also an old friend of Alistair and potentially his wife’s mistress. Plus, she was potentially part of the group that saved Redcliffe. They could have at least thrown in a codex entry showing some letters back and forth between Leliana and Alistair arguing over it.

What sucked is I did everything I could to make Leliana Divine and still ended up with Cass as Divine. I love Cass but I think Leliana is the best choice. I remember thinking, 'oh, well, at least Viv didn't get it' lol. I think the biggest impact the game has on Leliana becoming Divine is siding with the mages. Siding with the Templars is the only thing I did that I remember likely effecting it.

Its fine if you side with the templars. You can still have Leliana as divine. Just encourage cassandra to pursue something else other than being divine. Always encourage and agree with Leliana during your conversations about the chantry. Its always worked for me.

Divine Victoria or not, Leliana is still just as beautiful and hot as she is Softened as she's Hardened, some think she is more scarier Hardened, but, I don't. Actually, Leliana from the main game to perhaps Trespasser, is more hotter and actually could turn some of us on a bit. That may a little weird, wrong or strange, but, it actually might be true, I think, probably because it takes me back to the days she was Marjolaine's friend and and student and, yes, lover as well in Leliana's Song, the prequel DLC chapter before Origins and the Fifth Blight, but, that is besides the main point. Hardened Leliana, even not Divine, is still cool and well-loved by us all, but then again, how can she stll not be, right?
