I'm afraid that the next game will end with Solas dying either way. Either because you want to stop him, or because he can't bring to be in a world that has no need of him, entering the fade forever. OR, alternatively, you get a chance to actually agree with Solas and teir down the Veil, creating a whole new world. That would also mean the fourth game will probably be the last game in the Dragon Age franchise.

Sandro Swen Actually if I am not wrong the when Origins was designed the plan was to make a series of 7 to 9 game. Solas won't be our final battle, that's for sure. And for the ending I am not even sure, if you may manage to convince him to stop that how could you even cohexist with him? An immortal elven God that can turn you into a stone just with his mind? What about a romanced Lavellan? She will die soon enough and what will he do next? Maybe in the next game we may try to stop Solas and fail or stop him and after our character dies He will still torn down the veil so the DA:5 will be something more like a post apocalyptic game where you may try to fight the demon that now are part of the world.

Antagonist that is straight up evil is cliche and predictable, it isn't very imaginative. Having a antagonist that is in the grey area who is only an antagonist because he is against you is more creative because there are two sides an interesting conflict to experience, which should make for a more interesting character and narrative.

Solas is both good and bad, but not wholly one or the other. If he doesn't bring down the veil then the elves will likely die off completely. If he does, what happens to those who are not mages? What are the Qunari? Where did humans come from? What of the Titans and Dwarves? Humans and Kossith/Qunari couldn't have just appeared after the Fade was bound, but would they survive or revert back once Solas does what he intends? So many unanswered questions all to make a truly amazing fourth game. But I doubt Solas will be the chief antagonist. There's something else going on. There's one Old God free and two others yet to be blighted, did the Darkspawn start due to the Sidereal breaking into the Golden City, or did they take something in with them that was affected by the Fade? Red Lyrium existed long, LONG before the Magistered stormed 'heaven' after all, and red lyrium is just blighted lyrium. Cannot wait for DA4

The False Elven Gods and the Titans are the true antagonists of DA4, not Solas.

This scene is kinda hard for those who actually loved Solas as a companion,because it is in this exact moment when you discover that the villain of the game who's threatening the world,is one of your friends -if not the best or even romance- ,and he is suffering 'cause he made a choice to free his people,and that choice prove to be bad for them, and want to make them recover what they lost(which is the inmortality,magic,etc...) and at the same time he knows that the world he created is not bad at all,and is goig to sacrifice billions of lifes to recover their esence, and want's to be wrong and don't enjoy to do what he thinks it's necessary,and losing loved friends,and what makes this harder is the fact of the Inquisitior (his best friend,or beloved) wanting to redeem him,bringing him to the right way..... This scene is one of the best -If not the best- scenes of all Dragon Age videogames

I played a male Dalish, and we had mutual respect for one another. I (as the player) thought Solas' perspective into the Fade and Spirits was amazing, so playing as the Dalish, he would have had to "forget" everything his clan taught and replaced it with Solas' interpretation of the world. And that's exactly what happened. He started to view Spirits and the Fade differently, and Solas was kind of a mentor / friend from that moment on. To add to it, my Inquisitor is also heavily invested into the survival / rebirth of the Elven race, but has made many friends with each race (Iron Bull, Varric, his Human advisors) etc.. He understands Solas, but wants to preserve the world they have already protected. In short, I can't wait for DA:4 ;)

Katie H. I was a male Dalish Mage, but I'd strongly consider this new world Solas has to offer. Would you destroy the entire Chantry, good and bad, to free all the Tranquil? Solas says the world is now Tranquil, would you help him?

I tend to play anit-chantry anyway, lol. Some of the Tranquil were dangerous as mages, yes, but other instances it was due to Templar abuse of power. I think the Chantry is majorly flawed, but the Elven culture had its fair share of flaws as well.Did they ever go into detail about the Tranquil cure? I tried looking for it ingame, but Cassandra never talks about it after her personal quest is completed. She has one blurb about it and then nothing. I wanted to encourage her to seek a cure, so in my game she IS rebuilding her Seeker order, Leliana (unhardened) is my Divine.:: Spoiler's, I guess ::As far as the whole Solas thing goes, I think his plans would end in disaster the way he's going about it. If putting the Veil up destroyed / killed his civilazation, restoring the world would probably do the same to Thedas.I kinda wish there is an option to side with Solas, but game's like Nope. I think I would side with Solas, given the option, just once to see what his endgame looks like. I don't think it'll be pretty if he suceeds, as many people would die, but free-flowing Fade/reality sounds interesting. I think, yes, I would destroy the Chantry, the Viel, and all that to restore the world to 'what it originally was'. The Blights haven't completely devestated the world, so meh, why not.

Seem's legit,except that all those who're not elven (I dunno what would happen to half-blood elves) would be destroyed,and if you think about it,The Maker would be Solas,besides,the chantry is not the problem,it's the world itself,with it's inhabitants,even some of the elves are "Bad",in fact,the disaster would be for the world as we know,not for his,not for the elves.. If that option was on the Elven Inquisitor,it would not only make sense,but would be interesting

i play casually and got the line. i guess 10 years of playing rpg it is a second nature to check every corners, secret path, not moving on until finally solve any puzzle and totally graze every walkable place in the map, and occasional jump to death to get to the next ledge which are impossible to leap to.

However, much to the displeasure of "true nords" (aka the Stormcloaks aka the nationalists of Skyrim) he stayed with the empire after they were forced into a (temporary) truce with the Thalmor. That truce however forbid the worship of one of the (Nord/Imperial) gods.

Congrats as Solas might be one of the villain or deuteragonist with Varric’s narrative voice. And especially it will take place in Tevinter. Dorian will come back for sure. Plus, in the comic Fenris has his own chapters more than once relating to Tevinter Magister so he might come back too.

This scene was by far the best in all of Inquisition. Solas was one of my favorite characters and always had him in my party. Finding out that he’s in fact the “real villain” in the game broke my heart. However, it’s not that black and white Solas isn’t truly good but he isn’t truly evil either he only wants what’s best for the elves. He realized his mistake in the world and sometimes destroying your creation that is corrupt to start over isn’t really necessarily the most evil thing to do. God practically did the same thing He saw how there was corruption and evil in the world and flooding the inhabitants but saving the good few was the only course to take. Not super religious it just came to mind.

Solas is the real good guy. That elvan world of infinite life and magic, is worth restoring over the corrupt, petty, crapland that the mortals live in. Cities floating in the sky...yeah Solas should burn everything down ;)

So the whole game we where creating a group who will fix Solas' mistakes. Fighting Coryphus who is only a threat because of the elven orb. Not a bad idea just a shame you have no choice in shaping the Inquisition. Sure you can save the mages, banish the wardens, and decide to change Fen'Harels mind, but in the end it does not matter. The game does not change in the slightest and i doubt these details will in the 4th release of the game. At least the whole Fen'Harel motive is awesome.

I love them both. But you must see that half the companions characters in Inquisition are poorly written or simply annoying. Iron bull or Sera or Cole. I didn't even care about them They were so weird but I did all for them still I felt them not finished.

I wanted the ability to have him say "well done" to me too in my last playthrough but for some reason I didn't even get the chance to choose any of those options to call him Fen'Harel - my character just automatically said it. It's never happened in my previous playthroughs - does anyone know why that happened? That dialogue was just not as good.

Although what I don't understand is the need to kill the world entirely, to restore elves to glory. Surely it wouldn't be impossible to create a kingdom in isolation, and create a stable tear in the veil. Not too dissimilar to Tevinter.

"Restoring the elves to glory" requires a removal of the Veil. All of the Veil. It's like the Breach, but a thousand, no a million times worse. (If you rescued the mages you have a good idea of what that looks like)

Total removal of the veil is only required to merge the two worlds FULLY. An isolated and stable breach would have the same effect, only on a much smaller radius. The fact that the Inquisitor exists demonstrates that the magic to control tears in the Veil exists, so why not control a breach on a much smaller scale over or within an Elven kingdom? Solas' plan is far too extreme, bordering psychotic, when more practical solutions that benefit both humanity and elves exist. And even if those solutions might not work, is it above exploring to see if they might?
