Tiny correction: The Veil isn't the name of the spirit world. The spirit world is called The Fade. The Veil is the barrier that separates The Fade from the real world.

It would be great to see them take it in a different direction than usually happens, ie. he dies or he survives and is just an NPC. One alternative, for example, is he gets badly hurt, and part of the game is doing what's necessary to help him pull through. And depending on how much of a priority you put on that, he may or may not live.

You forgot a possibility for Varric; Advisor. With Bianca destroyed, I could see a world where he takes on a role similar to Cullen's in Inquisition (P.S. I actually hope he makes a return. He's the only guy who has been in there for every one. I'd love for that streak to continue). So he may not die, but he may be beaten down a bit, too wounded, or some other thing that keeps him from being a companion, but is there to advise and assist. Could also be that over the course of the game, you get the chance to rebuild Bianca, and have him join you for the climax.

Two things! 1. Cullen wasn't the only one who kept coming back. Alistair did, too. And I hope to see his return also. 2. Varric wasn't actually in Origins, he first appears in DA:2.

I'd think he'd be more like Leliana, as she went from companion in DA:O to spymaster in DA:I. And since Varric mentions he manages a spy network in DA:I, I would think that comparison would work better.

As far as I know, Bioware basically said they do not plan to work with him again.

When I was about halfway through reading The Wigmaker Job in Tevinter Nights, I decided I would never forgive Bioware if Lucanis wasn't a romancable companion. So, umm... yeah I'll be romancing Lucanis. I am also in denial about the precarious position my boy Varric is in.

I'll admit, this is more action oriented than my RPG preferences, but Dragon Age has been leaning into that since DA2. I'd be more upset if we weren't spoiled for choice for other CRPGs for the moment. I'm ready to accept this as the fantasy version of Mass Effect.

If I recall correctly, he doesn't care. He's going to tear down The Veil and "fix" the world to how *he* wants it to be and screw everybody else. And once he's accomplished that, he can go die for all he cares.

I've been theory crafting for years that the elven gods created the taint in order to escape the prison Solas put them in. I feel like part of his plan was to tear down the veil and finally put an end to them since he's realized that even sealed up they're causing damage to the world, but because the ritual was interrupted the gods used that opportunity to take control of it and uae it to break free. If I'm right then Solas might actually end up being a support character in the war against the elven gods

Neve being a second (for another playthrough), depending on how she is written. I did like it, that some characters were only into some others in DAI (which was also the case in Origins, where the sex mattered). It made them more relatable and all. But I understand the change, to be more accessible to all players.

Pretty sure 1 the inquisitior can't blindly just go to tevinter to hunt for solas without it being a politicial thing, 2. It was established in the last game that the inquisitior is the one that suggested they hather a crew that can slip in and out of tevinter, as for the warden bioware has said it is difficult bringing in the warden even as a cameo considering the warden doesn't have a look/voice , there's also the fact that the warden might be dead cause this is set 9 years after trespasser and the space between origins and inquisition is 8 years do the math, the average life span if a warden is 13 years after induction (this is even if your warden is alive as the canonical warden is dead as per performing the ultimate sacrifice) and hawke is probably going to be in the game (either in weishaupt or the fade) every option stated has a logical explanation

@@TJBrumfield There are plenty in game reasons why the previous heroes are not available, or not the best choice: Warden: dead or the calling nears, Hawke: got his own problems with Kirkwall/Meredith or dead, Inquisitor lost his mark, and too close to Solas. High chance some get cameos (choice dependant).

It's not made explicit in the trailers but Lucanis is Antivan, so odds are good he'll have that accent. From what I've read (it was only mentioned in one of the articles) the protagonist voices are the same as how they did it in DAI, so British and American.

I've been following the development of this game for nion 10 years now, and I am very pleased with what I've seen so far! What I love if they would go back to the dao style gameplay, yes. But I also love Mass Effect and can appreciate the focus on an action-oriented game! Bring on the dreadwolf, bring on the veilguard! Dragon Age is my favourite game series, I have been waiting a full decade for this and I'm thrilled that it looks great. I am going to bring Harding and Davrin in my party and see how things develop - on the one hand Harding is a delight and I've been waiting to romance a dwarf in a BioWare game for as long as they've been making fantasy RPGs with dwarves in them, but on the other Davrin is extremely hot and has a BABY GRIFFON. I am not made of stone.

F for Bianca. And I don't care about other people's reservations about this game. I'm playing it because what they've shown so far looks fun, I always preferred the active combat over the tactical when it was available, and there's a griffon in the companion trailer.

While the ability to select skills to use from the pop-up wheel for companions a la Mass Effect is nice, one of the things I notice missing that I'm not terribly pleased about is that there doesn't seem to be any assigning abilities to specific buttons. One of the things I loved in the older DA games was having six abilities to assign that you could use immediately using just 1-2 button presses. Having to constantly bring up the wheel to use different skills (of which only three seem available?) seems like a serious step back, ESPECIALLY if you play a mage and can only bring three spells at a time. I do every first playthrough as an elven rogue, and Scout Harding is likely going to be my pick (although I've been wrong in previous games - I surprised myself by romancing Merrill first time instead of Isabela like I expected since I've loved her since DAO)

Huge F for Bianca, first confirmed character death. It's interesting how the overall style of the characters and their world is likely on par with Baldur's Gate 3, set in a country we've been tentatively hating for their misbehavior for years. What we do about Solas is obviously still in the air and our work to intrude on his ritual clearly makes things worse than before. But do we get a cameo from past characters? Does our Inquisitor pop in at any point? Is this game going to work from the get-go to where normal people don't have to learn special computer skills just to make it work like my sister did for DA:I? I guess we'll see.

Looks like the real bad guys will probably be those elven gods that escaped Solas interrupted spell. I already dont like having just two tag alongs and only 3 skills. That itself will be annoying as hell playing as a mage

This is how I wish BG3 combat was, a choice of real time or pause and plan and hide the "turns". Haven't got BG3 because of that, might do if it goes cheep enough

I doubt my current computer can handle it, I'll probably get the PS5 version and *gulp* play without mods. After seeing the trailer, I resumed my Dragon Age Inquisition save Harding is definitely at the top of my romance list. My female Hero of Ferelden fell for Leliana 😍, a male went for Morrigan. Alister and Zevran were just for the achievements lol 🤪, and then my lady Hawke went for Merrill or Isabella. I wasn't too fond of male Hawke, and lady Hawke can romance anyone male Hawke could, lady Hawke is Cirilla from the third Witcher game by the way. My female Inky went for Sera whilst the male chose Cassandra

I will be playing this game once it comes out & most likely going with an elf mage of the Avarian Crow since outside of DA:2 where my character was a human mage who romanced or brooding boy Fenris, I have always gone with an elf for the race & mage for the class on the first playthrough. As for who I will probably romance, it all depends on who I end up liking more personality wise between Harding, Bellara, Emmerich. If I had to go purely on looks, it would be Harding, but personality plays a part in it too, so that could change

Fighting dragons? Piece of cake. Finding out who to romance will be the hardest challenge. They all look really cool but no one sticks out to me. And my beloved (and somewhat bad) egg is right there. But honestly prolly Bellara. She reminds me of Merril.

RIP Bianca. It wud make sense if varric dies, or at least is presumed dead at this point. Like the breaking of bianca seems like forshadowing. So yeah my guess is he "dies" here and then at the end of the game he comes back and is just like trapped in the fade or something

Definitely hyped, I was nervous after the trailer but gameplay look and feel is what I was wanting. Assuming I play a Human first playthrough I’ll probably romance Ballara or maybe Neve (hard to tell with the hat she’s wearing). I definitely have a Dwarf Harding playthrough planned. And a female Lucanis romance I reckon. Hardest choice is whether I go Warrior or Mage instead of my usual Rogue - but probably Rogue.

David Gaider is right about the trailers. First time I played Origins I immediately set it back down and almost never picked it back up again. It looked NOTHING like any of the trailers.
