That's it, we have to force Eric to play Dragon Age Origins, and then Dragon Age 2. I'm a little "eh" on Inquisition. He can do that one or not as he sees fit, but the first two are a must.

Inquisition (and Trespasser) are clearly a must for this game. The inquisitor makes an appearance. The story has stuff that come from Inquisition

​@earendilthemariner5546 yeah but the 2 most important for Eric are Origins and 2. If he goes on to play the new ones great but as a Kotor, Mass Effect and BG3 fan the 1st 2 are the most related and also just classic Bioware games.

@liba there's no chance of that. My guess is if he does end up playing he starts with the new game at launch than goes back if he likes it or he starts at Origins and doesn't worry about DAV until he's caught up like a year from now.

the artstyle isnt what i preferred for the game but nevertheless, ive enjoyed all 3 dragon age games thus far to varying degrees so im just planning to form my own opinion on the 4th as well.

@@chaost4544 its basically the god of war 2016 forward gameplay but with slightly more control over Atreus (Your companions) Its a good gameplay system. The only issue is that its a gigantic different style of gameplay to the usual dragon age gameplay.

@@khalduras784 the last part is probably going to be a big issue for long time DA fans. They seemingly got rid of the old type of combat mechanics and put in place mechanics that are similar to action games like Darksouls and GoW.

@@chaost4544 depends. So far majority of the complainers arent "long time da fans". Theyre at best da origins only fans, majority of them barely even remember origins besides being told ita good by random dramatubers

Lore-wise it would be great to see Eric play all three previous games. The stories are so rich, the characters so fun and we see some really interesting developments across the three games, and learning the lore organically while playing each game in order one after the other is so rewarding. It feels like you’re learning about the world in real time. Personally I love all three previous games and am excited to play Veilguard!

Haha, yeah. The elves in DAO were short humans. In DA2 they actually looked good. In DAI they looked weird, almost broken, especially the males. In DAV they are humans with pointy ears, as buff and tall as you like.

I'm playing through Inquisition now. Making my way through the DLC, but might just skip to Trespasser since I'm 100+ hours in at this point😅.

@@BoxHeadMidus I mean if you're that far along, you may as well see it through. Skip any more small fetch quest missions that aren't important, just do the inner circle and main missions, finish the DLC and then you'll be good to go! Afterall, if you are pass 100 hours, you'll be more than 80% finished of the whole game anyway.

If Eric liked Kotor, BG3 and Mass Effect he'll love at least the 1st 2 Dragon Age games. Whenever I go back and play my favorite games Origins moves up my list(now at 2 behind ME1). So it's not just nostalgia when I say its aged well especially the writing and characters

My first and favorite Bioware game is Jade Empire. I've been wanting an action focused Dragon Age since 2. 2 and Inquisition was halfway between Origins and Jade Empire.

For Melanie, there is a gameplay showcase that shows off the UI a bit better from earlier on. It's weird to say that it feels different from the others because you don't recognize the party, because the party and the protagonist are different in every single game lol. I think Varric is the only one to be a companion in two different games? I guess maybe Anders from Awakening to 2, but that's DLC?

Yeah...the series was going that way for a while. RTS combat is fun.......if you don't have a mess like DAO was. (Love the game but the AI was Maker-awful)

They went 'God of War' in Dragon Age 2 (2011). Then Inquisition got a tactical camera back, but apparently 15% of players used it significantly, so it's gone (understandably).

@@sofajockeyUK the Tactical camera in Inquisition was alright to use but I barely touched my party members in that one. (Meanwhile in DAO and somewhat in 2, I had to tell them what to do, where to do it from, had them use the appropriate Potions, made them all PB&Js, etc. Micromanaging was a bit much on them.
