If you didn't hear, it's now illegal to have out-of-print retro games backed up in online archives. The literal reason given by publishers for pushing back against it was they were "concerned people may use them recreationally." So they succeeded in destroying retro video game preservation because you might play those games instead of modern slop. It's all coming together.

The thing is even before this push for diversity, games and media was diverse. Rockstar didn’t need DEI initiatives to make GTA San Andreas… Blade was one of the first and most popular Marvel movies years before the face of Marvel became Iron Man.. Women have also been leads in media, did anyone not see the Alien movies? I don’t think the creators of Nier Automata made a female be the main character because they were trying to be diverse and yet we all loved that game. We all loved the manga (and movie version) of Battle Angel Alita.. no DEI necessary… So games and movies and shows have been full of diversity for generations, I really don’t understand the modern push for this fake and forced diversity they are trying to feed us today. I remember the conversation where someone asked why there aren’t other races in the Witcher series and even though I’m a black guy I looked at them like they are silly. Look at the culture the Witcher series is portraying, of course there aren’t any black people in a fantasy version of Poland lol. That’s like asking where are all the white people in Black Panther…

Of the whole franchise, only Dragon Age Origins is good (one of the best rpgs ever made) Everything made afterwards from the sequel games, to the comics, to the novels, to the CG movie was absolute trash. The "franchise" should be buried and forgotten, while we pretend like Dragon Age Origins was a one-and-done game.

@@sephy980 Like I said, Origins is one of the greatest rpgs of all time. The combat is pretty much turn based, so isn't an action game. But there are a ton of combat options for players who like thinking. The story and choices are fantastic, and the voice acting is superb. Very much a dark fantasy where no one is really a white-hat good guy. And you can get the PC version for super cheap (was never remastered for consoles beyond the PS3/360 versions) Every other game in the series sucks to various degrees. They are not worth your time and only diminish the legacy of Origins.
