The Tank Controls actually made the game more playable. I tried with the 'Modern' Controls but the whole game was built on a grid, and for the specific moves you can do with the Tank Controls and it was literally the only way to play the game! I got the trilogy on your recommendation back when it released and loved it so Can't wait for this!!!

The Last Revelation was the pinnacle of PS1 era Tomb Raider and I'm so excited to get it remastered the same way. Chronicles was a kinda 'deleted scenes' game where unused ideas got resurrected but I can't wait to play that too. Angel of Darkness was an unholy dumpster fire 😂. I'd have taken a 4&5 remaster and paid full price but okay, let's run with this. Will they finally make AoD a playable game? Best insight so far! I didn’t care for TR3 much back in the day but the remaster was excellent! I felt the same about TLR and Chronicles (didn’t care much for original releases) so hopefully the remasters for these make me feel the same! I am one of the few that platinum trophied 1-3 and will do the same here. Angel of Darkness? Only played for like an hour or 2 so hopefully Aspyr makes it worth it. They surely didn’t disappoint with initial 3. 👍🏼

I hope that one day, they could release the missed trilogy of Angel of Darkness, it would be an amazing challenge, but if they will go in a other direction, it would okay too. There's jokes in the Donkey Kong Community of a "realistic" looking redesign of Donkey Kong, and it's a joke because nobody genuinely wants to see DK look like an actual gorilla. The same logic applies to Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider fandom, there's something so much more timeless and endearing about a more stylized almost exagerrated cartoon version of Lara Croft over a photorealistic looking woman who calls herself Lara Croft.

I honestly don't care about the reboot trilogy and reboot Lara... they feel like nondescript survival horror games to me and aren't what I think "Tomb Raider" should be. I’m enjoying the classic tomb raider remasters. But idk why some hardcore classic TR fans like to make you feel like less of a TR fan because you use guides for the classic games and don’t like the tank controls. I didn’t grow up playing these TR games, but being a huge TR fan I just had to play the remasters. But being honest, a lot of the level designs are not that great and can be very confusing and I don’t want to spend all day on one freaking level so I’m going to use a guide after I have tried my own options and attempts to solve how to get to the next area. And Lara doesn’t move as fluid as she does in legend, anniversary, underworld. But I love the puzzle solving aspect of these games and the sense of adventure.

AoD is my favorite TR, It was my first game in the franchise when I was a kid, its so special couse I spent years trying to finish it without guides, years of exploration and misteries in the tombs, fell like a huge journey (back in the day there was no guides on this one hahahaha)

Legend wasn't bad, yes it was a watered down experience, but I liked Lara's style in that trilogy. Lets be serious, we were starving for anything TR back then, so Legend was a welcome addition and the soundtrack was great!

Am looking forward to these. Owned TR 1 and 4 when I was younger but never finished either. With the 1 to 3 collection I finally finished 1, played 2 and started 3 but only did a few levels then took a break I’ll probably be throwing myself back in in February. Hopefully this collection has a platinum trophy on PS5 though.

So the Embracer people bought it out from SE? I'm kinda lost on this. If that's true, that really does explain why we have the reboot mess and all the woke bs they shoehorned into Lara Croft. Also if that's the case, then heck yeah Embracer needs to drop SE and all the woke stuff and like you said go back and do a new game with the style in the Classic games. Melonie, I don't know if you could do a video on all the SE/Embracer stuff and explain l this but would totally watch it. What do you mean SE? Square Enix? They didn't own the IP during the legend era, that was still Eidos. Square bought Crystal Dynamics from Eidos to make the reboot trilogy (2013 - 2018) and then sold Crystal Dynamics to Embracer in about 2022 because Square liquidated their American assets. The IP has been following Crystal Dynamics around since Eidos took Core Design off of it due to AOD's failure.

I would say Crystal Dynamics at least did Lara's style right in Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld. I think that's why they still feel like Tomb Raider games, the actress in particular does a brilliant job, which does help. CD just lost it after there and didn't even try anymore. On a different note, you talking about getting stuck reminds me of my parents. They have spoken about playing the first couple together when they came out, my dad would be the one actively playing and my mum advising with the puzzles 😂

Totally agree with Melonie-the next Tomb Raider game should stick to the classic style! Look at how the Crash Bandicoot 'N'Sane Trilogy' remasters were followed by the fresh 'It's About Time'-they kept the classic gameplay while adding new elements. That’s exactly what Tomb Raider needs: classic mechanics, updated graphics, and endless possibilities!
