Dragon Ball GT | Super Saiyan 4 Theme (Gladius & Akihito Tokunaga) | By Gladius

I didn't expect so many of you to ask for this as this one of my first Dragon Ball related videos. The is my 2nd most requested track and it’s one of my own originals :) Thanks to ‪@niceusername303‬ , ‪@aquamillo‬ , ‪@lssjcarter‬ , ‪@kazuhiramiller7945‬ , ‪@kronkprime‬ , ‪@adoriousgravy8033‬ , ‪@genetic_lemon‬ , ‪@carlangaspico7315‬ , ‪@sushrutmukherjee1836‬ for requesting this.
Two years ago, I wanted to start really following the path of a composer, so I decided that I needed to score something. I took the scene from Dragon Ball GT where Goku transforms into SSJ4 and made my own score to it. It was my first time attempting to match visually what I was hearing musically. I posted it on KZbin and the rest is history. It didn't receive a lot views but my channel was still just getting started, as it still is even today. But some of you watched my video and really enjoyed the music I wrote, which was unexpected but made me feel really grateful. So here it is, my full version of my own original Super Saiyan 4 theme- with a little treat in the middle from Akihito Tokunaga for those fans of the Dragon Ball GT Japanese soundtrack ;) Sonically, I wanted blend the synthesisers of Faulconer Productions, the guitars of Mark Menza, the orchestral elements of Norihito Sumitomo, a sprinkle of Akihito Tokunaga’s melody’s from GT, and my own musical soul to make this piece!

As much as it saddens me that the English Dub music isn't remixed or anything by anyone, this was so awesome, and I love that it used the Japanese OST towards the end. This is how you make music and pay respects to its source.

I definitely tried to make use of some of the same instrumentation from English dub music, but elevate it to something new. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to be as respectful as I could to both the eng and jap ost while making something of my own ☺️

You’re the first person to pick up on that and mention it :) there’s a part in the anime where he’s all serious and pan asks him if he’s still on the good side and he smiles- I wanted to see the playful side of Goku still underneath the hardened exterior of SSJ4 :) but of course, when it’s time to get serious, he’s serious 😉 it’s subtle but thank you for noticing 🙏

The SSJ4 theme they are referring to is the GT OP I believe; Dan Dan Kokoro, but it plays in a gentler way after the transformation. I've always enjoyed the Funimation dub music for Dragon Ball GT, but in the UK we grew up with the Funimation dub with the original Japanese music. The emotions I experienced at 3:00 onwards was insane, listening to that sent me straight back to my childhood. To the very moment at the end of GT, when this theme was playing, and we're saying goodbye to Goku for what we thought at the time would the final time we would see anything from Dragon Ball. Literally brought me to tears!

Another magnificent piece from you, GLADIUS!! It’s so very atmospheric with the music fading in and out. For me, Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 Theme always felt sort of clunky and choppy. So of course, as per usual, your mastery of the Dragon Ball soundtrack cleaned it up in a way that makes it absolutely phenomenal. And then Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku sneaks itself on in there and the pain and tears of Dragon Ball GT’s ending reared it’s head in the back of my mind and actually caused me to bare tears from just the sheer emotions put into it and the song as a whole. Once again, you have made another masterpiece!!

Dude i Just had a vision of this song being at the end scene of a DBZ live action movie. In my headcannon the first movie debuts the characters and their histories, along with flashbacks during the epic fight with raditz, finishing off with the training of the humans, piccolo and gohan and Goku running on snake way, while vegeta and nappa destroy Arlia and fly off to finish their journey to earth. The first minute is them discussing how pathetic the planet had become with the explosion happening at 1:00 of the music. Then they hop in their pods. Then it goes back to earth and shows piccolo meditating while thinking about what he just sensed happening , and how Goku needs to finish his training if they are to have a chance. at 1:40 Picollo opens his eyes in a close up and in a sweat with a stern look and then a black screen pops up and the DBZ logo shows at 1:45 and credits appear with a back drop of different art showing the fighter's training. Then maybe a few quick scenes 4-5 seconds of each of the characters and what they are doing as the credits roll... I miss old school dbz

I’m not sure if you saw the original video of me rescoring the SSJ4 scene, but I wanted the intro to represent the Oozaru, the timpani and brass acting like a giant monkey beating it’s chest, until it all goes quiet, then we inside gokus mind as he undergoes the transformation into SSJ4. I’m glad you liked it though! Oh I loved the legacy of Goku games! I’m not sure which track that is I’m gonna have to look it up 👍☺️

I can see where you are going with it and makes sense, yes listening to it again. Appreciate the replies! Oh you will love them. The intro sounds like the funimation second intro; which you have done, but it's slightly different and the ending theme or epilogue is like an amalgamation of the legacy of Goku 2, tracks, sounds and that. I always looking for Kid Trunks theme's 😅 Mainly cause I play him a lot on XV2. Him and Vegeta. Always think of scinarios where Trunks gets into a tough spot and Vegeta rescues him epically and just slays the bad guy for messing with his son!

Yo this was amazing Really wish that this would be the official theme for Super Saiyan 4 in GT, but in the American OST and respecting the OG OST. This really helped me out grieving a loss of another Saiyan we loved, IYKYK.

It’s my own hypothetical version which was never meant to emulate the original at all, I just wrote whatever the scene made me feel when I watched the English dub from when I was a kid (which had a completely different score again). I only added the Tokunaga’s theme in there at the bridge as a homage to his amazing score👍

I know the sub track for GT is objectively better. That being said, the dub soundtrack has its moments, especially for super saiyan 4 (which is a rare moment where Id say the dub soundtrack fits better) and this video proves it!

I actually agree, I prefer the heartfelt energy of the sub track, but wanted to hear something with higher energy and intensity. Mixing all the worlds together made for a good communication of how seeing it for the first time made me feel 🎵☺️

I’ll be honest, whenever I rewatch DBZ I always skip past the Garlic Jr Saga 😅 I watched it when I was a kid and I think it was ruined for me because they kept re running it and going back to the beginning cos the new episodes weren’t out yet.
