Using some cheats on the PC Version, I was able to get every hidden NPC / unplayable character unlocked in the roster and there are some CRAZY weird ones. A lot of these are story mode variants or characters that would appear in ultimate attacks, like Lavender & Basil or Pui Pui! It's really interesting stuff, so let me know which characters you like the best!

I haven't coded in like 10 years, so I might be mistaken, but I think it's pretty funny that they are creating the same character multiple times with different names because the closed captioning must be programmed in a way where it pulls the name of the character asset before adding the actual string dialogue to their caption. Ex: "Mysterious Man: (dialogue goes here)". Mysterious Man is the character asset (we call them objects in development) and its name is likely a string variable that gets inserted like - (object.Name)": "+ "Dialogue". I haven't played the game yet, but I'm also assuming those items are interactable in-game and essentially the items must have either hidden properties or move sets that are triggered when they're used (Like maybe the fusions are actually triggered via the items move instead of the characters). This is all an educated guess, I'm sure a data miner or modder knows the real answer. I'm pretty confident though about the captions though. Considering they're allowing players to create their own scenarios with unique dialogue would explain why they needed to set it up that way instead of just hard coding static dialogue lines with the names of the characters being part of the individual string.

Actually if you compare it, Gohan Black (Ultimate) has a different Aura then SSJ Rose Goku Black. They're both Pink but Gohan Black's is a light see through pink with a bit of black which fits with the Ultimate transformation while Goku Black's is a dark pink mixed with purple and black and more in line with SSGSS Aura.

To clarify why they can't use the kaioken attack, they don't have bones designed for grabs. The animation will play, but without bones to connect the move, the game just assumes you missed.

You unnecessarily say "You can play as" for all of these. They're not playable. Please stop saying that. They're models in the game for story content, ultimate attack animations, items, etc. etc. Not playable characters unless you cheat to make them that. Hence why they all have Goku moves. "They separated the characters that much?!" Games that are 3D have models for everything. They're not all characters. Also, yes. Since Gohan Black doesn't go corrupted there is no unique model for it.

Well the intended use of them is to be in cinematics, but because the way the handle cinematics the easiest way to get character into them was making them part of the roaster. If it would be only 3d models you could play as a montain or a map. Also, some of this clearly will be playable eventually, like the god of destruction or black Gohan

9:56 If I had to make a guess on what this is, this might be a test character to test outfit parts/accessories, and/or to test stuff like cloth physics, tail animations, and parts getting removed from battle damage. I assume since Goku is character 1 they probably just slapped all that on him just to quickly test multiple things before building other characters
