There's also the big issue with Adult Gohan, that he can't transform into his Ultimate form. Sure, he couldn't do that in the previous games either, but those games came out before Super. Back then it was a little vague as to whether or not Ultimate was a new transformation, or his new base form. In Super, there's no ambiguity, Ultimate is a transformation. He can go in an out of it as he pleases. Considering Adult Gohan represents not only the Z version, but also the Super version, his transformations should reflect that.

Yeah that is pretty odd, I’m guessing they kept it as such because that’s how it was in the old games. It would be interesting if there was a Super Gohan who had Ultimate as a transformation but I think the most that will happen is that we get Beast Gohan in the DLC, here’s hoping he has some cool stuff.

I'm gonna be honest, but I prefer Ultimate Gohan's Burst Rush in BT3 and Raging Blast 2 a bit more.. While Sparking Zero's is not bad, I thought the ultimate lost something compared to the other two versions in my opinion.

Burst Rush got done REAL dirty by the decision to have all Rushed be done "live" rather than scripted cutscenes where they could teleport the characters around to stay within stage boundaries.

The "xenoverse 2 logic" ruined a lot of the rush attacks and ultimates. Especially ones like Goten's charge rush and kid Goku's ultimate, where they are required to be on the ground for it to make sense, but yet sometimes you will still be in the air or floating underwater. Goten and Goku bouncing their ki blast off of mid-air will always be wonky looking lmao

One thing I never understood after all these years is why they never made SSJ2 Gohan's Super Kamehameha yellow, and making it the Electric Kamehameha. The pose he does to charge it up is more or less based off of it, so I don't see why not.

I'm always a little torn on the beam ults in sparking zero. On the one hand, I do like how the impact doesn't take that long. Not stopping the fight for 20 seconds is appreciated. On the other hand, it still stops for 20 seconds anyway because now they put it all in the charge. Which is a pretty charge, but still. Worst case scenario is what they did with base future trunks and his sword beam. SS2 Adult Gohan's ult also suffers from this because it is supposed to be a fast charge. Now he takes his sweet time.

BT3: The first part is from his gut punch assault on 2nd form Frieza after stabbing Krillin. The second downwards beam is from his shot on 3rd form Frieza. SZ: The first part is his assault on 2nd form Frieza, just like before. The ki blast spam is from his joint ki blast volley with Vegeta and Krillin on 2nd form Frieza. The final ki blast is the same one to end his assault on 2nd form Frieza. There just isn't a color-shifting explosion like the anime had.

Which they probably got rid of because he already has that as a throw animation minus the Masenko, which you can always just combo into from the throw.

Glad to finally be seeing Gohan coverage, he’s always been my favorite character and I think he was done mostly well outside of Base Teen Gohan and unfortunately Ultimate Gohan. Burst Rush in this game is such a huge letdown from how it was in other iterations, especially Raging Blast 2, though personally I kinda like that goofy Fierce Combination, there’s something kinda satisfying about it to me but I do wish the spinning was done a bit better. I’m glad to see how well SSJ1 and 2 Teen Gohan were done though, giving him an ultimate version of a Masenko really goes a long way and it’s kinda surprising that hadn’t really been done in this series yet. The best change they made to Gohan in this game though is of course the fact that you can finally have Piccolo’s cape as an alternate costume for Teen Gohan. SSJ1 Teen Gohan with that cape is easily his coolest design imo

It's like that vs Cell because the game doesn't want you to have ultimates that are later used to win. Majin Vegeta vs Buu and Goku vs scouter Vegeta have the same reasoning. Seeing as most of the what ifs are "what if these characters didn't struggle in this fight" it makes sense for them to replace the ultimates so players can still do devastating sparking damage

Unfortunately, Omega's right. Previous games had made way more impact with their Supers/Ultimates. Hell, Piccolo can't even do Explosive Demon Wave to to a Beam Clash anymore...and that was the first beam clash in the DB series (Goku vs Piccolo in the Tournament)
