I think "Character Selection" will be what sets the "Character Restrictions" for the Player/CPU. It might be divided by Sagas (i.e. Saiyan Saga, Frieza Saga, Cell Saga, etc.) or it might give you full freedom to ban any characters you choose. Then, you turn Character Restrictions On for either the Player or the CPU, which will enforce the restrictions you've placed in Character Selection. That makes the most sense to me right now.

I mean, for BT3 I bet the devs had no idea how strong or weak they were making the characters. I bet they thought they were making the stronger forms stronger (like for example weak character need to use blast stocks to buff themselves to be able to stagger a giant, but fusions or forms over SSJ2 or so can stagger giants naturally), but without patches there was no way to rebalance the game. I can see them now tweeking it so that it makes more sense in the Dragon Ball canon. For those survival tournaments I feel like it could be really fun or really boring. Like what if people start playing super safe to try to conserve health and it becomes a boring chase for random hits like if they were playing Susamaru in Demon Slayer. What could make them more interesting is that characters with healing abilities could be played more, like Cell base form or whatever Buu it was that had regeneration (I think Super Buu base?).

So, my theory regarding DP for ranked mode will be that the characters may have their DP adjusted if it turns out a character is weaker or stronger competitively than what their DP may suggest.

This is a lot of great news. One other thing I would like to see (if it hasn't already been mentioned) is networking through ad hoc. Not many games (I can't think of any nowdays) get this but it can be hugely useful for local playing together on different devices without the lag you could get by going through the Internet. While I would like to see that in more games, I am quite pleased to hear the stuff you mentioned here. Now if we can just punish rage quitters on day one instead of waiting as if the issue is new.

The only issue I have with this so far is that tournaments seem to be 8 participants with no boss at the end, unlike in bt3 that had 16 + boss. If that's not customizable, it is kind of a downgrade.
