I recreated Jirens Theme (Jirens Power Unleashed/Desperate Plan) and made it more somber to go with his tragic backstory. I also used Unwinnable Battle and Fearsome Foe to represent his terrifyingly unstoppable power as an adult.
For the art, I redrew some of the scenes from Jirens Backstory in the episode 127 “The Approaching Wall”, and edited in a few clips from the episode itself.
I called it The Ballad Of Jiren The Grey as a reference to the Ballades of the classical era, but also in reference to slow, emotional power ballads of the modern era.

I love the fan theory that Belmond was the one who killed Jiren's village as he spared only those with the highest potential on planets, since he wanted to find someone to replace him as G.O.D, Jiren eventually defeats Belmond but in an act of spite, refuses the role of G.O.D after learning the truth. Its why Toppo ends up G.O.D, despite being far weaker than Jiren (and why he doesnt trust anyone, since his entire life was basically out of his control until beating Belmond)

Okay, there's a lot to unpack in this one. First of all, adding the animation part of Jiren's childhood and transitioning into Jiren at the Tournament of Power was just an absolute genius move! Not only it was genius, but you executed it flawlessly making it so genius. Witnessing Jiren's growth over the whole video was honsetly a pleasure to my eyes. The way you made Jiren build up to 3:40 with the closeup and adding the shaking really gave me chills when it went down to his unstable emotions. And of course, the HUGE anticipated build up which you made look so fucking amazing... and then... 4:35 - enough said about that, people need to see and hear it with their own eyes & ears. You know, it's funny how a theme song made me care way more about the character associated with it than how he got treated in the anime. I honestly think it was crazy, the decision to only give us his backstory towards the end of the Tournament of Power. Doing so gave us as the audience little to no time to care about his tragic past before he ended up losing the fight. They should've given it to us much closer to when he was introduced, so that we can have time to see the process unfold, him equating Goku to the threat that ended his master, and the transformation in mindset that would undoubtedly ensue from that. That's the kind of character development that was needed, and I felt was sorely lacking, not just with Jiren, but with a lot of the characters introduced in that arc. It may be the case that some of these characters will never see another episode, and I get that with as much potential for the future as they introduced with the concept of such a tournament, it would be next to impossible to explore it all. But it's easy to see Jiren being of greater significance to the narrative down the line, as far as he pushed Goku past his limits there. Now that he's been demonstrated that raw strength isn't everything in a fight, he's bound to get even stronger. And with them even teasing a potential future meet up and sparring session between the two, if they don't capitalize on that, it would be quite a wasted opportunity. Apologies for the tirade, but you know the rendition is top shelf when it makes me feel so strongly about a topic like this. Keep up the good work, Glad.

I appreciate the tirade 😅 I agree with you for the most part. I think they could have put in at least a dedicated episode to flesh out the backstory like the one in the beginning of this video, it would have been a slight departure from the dragon ball style, but it definitely would have paid off. We could have gotten to know his master, his friends and Jiren himself before the tragedy a bit more. I think what happens when I watch it is I fill in the backstory in my imagination as I watch, but it wouldn’t have hurt to have spent a bit more time on it. @@PlayNudge it was just easy enough ;) I’ve been thinking about Beerus but as you say, he doesn’t have a lot of music to work from so I would have to write more for him to complete his theme :) definitely been putting it off 😝
