Having Nail being a voice in Piccolo’s head is legitimately a stroke of genius and perhaps one of the best ideas Team Four Star had. In the original, Nail’s fusion is treated solely as a power boost that ends up meaning nothing because his power level is quickly outpaced. But here Nail remains a character and offers some insight as well as hilarity. The same can also be said for a similar moment with another character in DBZA Season 3. Unlike Ghost Nappa, which TFS seemed to have no real idea what to do with, Fused Nail is so good that I wish the original series used.

I think with Nail it was just a lot easier to play with him, with Nappa it required editing scenes and adding him in. With Nail all they have to do is add funny audio while Piccolo is standing there..lol

Possible spoiler alert for those who haven't watched Super but in the Tournament of Power, I remember the fused Namekians having moments when they spoke with the Namekians they fused with. Super had couple of moments where it felt that the writers were paying respect on TFS's stuff while not triggering Toei with too obvious references. That's probably the closest that we ever going to get with Fused Nail being in original series.

@@enitheway Ya that and Spoiler alert for super when Piccolo is fighting the universe 6 nemakians who are just like 100 namakians each, there's a scene where Piccolo sees the spirits of all 100 namakians behind the opponent and then behind him stand a silloete of 2 namakians: one looking like a young adult and one looking like a decrepit old man with a cane (Kami) and he looks at them and nods. Often times Super acted as the glue between Z & the origonal which was cool.

The problem is that I don't think they pee at all. Slugs don't have a bladder. She probably was wondering how Namekians would pee and concluded she didn't want to know. I always felt this joke was exactly as you described it, but not thought through in this case.

I love how they incorporated Piccolo's love for boring wastelands. The fusion of Nail and Piccolo has far more reaching consequences here in DBZ Abridged. "Yes Vegeta, but you see, the difference between us is I'll live long enough to regret it." That's hardcore.

Fun fact, the music that plays on Piccolo's arrival is the theme music of the character Magus from the legendary SNES RPG Chrono Trigger. Aside from Magus also being an OP reformed villain in the game all the characters for Chrono Trigger were also designed by Akira Toriyama and it really shows.

The beginning of the "You're not *dealing* with the average Saiyan warrior" schtick. Easily one of the best running gags. And easily one of the most beautiful, most karmic brick jokes they've ever done. And you might have missed another brick jokes. As Frieza transformed, Gohan says "Krillin, do you feel that?!", to which Krillin replies "I *TASTE* THAT!" That's a callback to Vegeta's screaming from episode 18 where they had the exchange of "Krillin, do you hear that?" responded with "I *feel* that." This whole episode was great. And it's only going to get *better.*

I kinda wish they had a bonus scene of Gohan in a therapy chair talking about it and when the therapist talks it's Nappa. He did major in child psychology. Granted it was in Saiyan university but Gohan is half saiyan... Maybe that's why he was still so "normal" when he went to high school in the Buu saga.

I think the best example to show to explain how well TFS handled this abridged is the choice of having Nail remain with Piccolo to be part of the story and character dynamic. Doesn't change the story, but enhances it in such an amazing way.

This is the best series ever. And it only gets better from here. One small spoiler....Cell is introduced in Ep. 42 at the very end and it is creepy as hell. He's dragging someone across a street while he's singing "Mr. Sandman" to himself. He sees Piccollo and says to him, "Hello...Friend...." and the episode ends right there. You're just left thinking, "Holy crap!"

He's dying, that's why. When dying or at the moment after death the body begins to suffer loss of muscle control to areas like the bladder and the intestines. If you have ever seen a person die or had a family pet like a dog or cat go , you know this.

Gohan is the best character in all of DBZ. We get to see him go through hell and come out on top and not mentally moronic like his father and Vegeta. Idky Toriyama keeps undermining him throughout the series honestly with the same story of he stops training and gets outta shape and then has to get back into shape. Its just a damn shame that Goku and Vegeta get so much of the time.

I recently re-watched Gokus SSJ transformation in my native language (State owned TV channel), and Krillin’s death was kinda censored without the explosion - it just cut from Freeza’s hand gesture to smoke in the air, and then Krillin “was gone” 🫠 13:42 OH WHAT?! Oh, and Piccolo's entry music was the Magus Theme from Chrono Trigger, a FANTASTIC game where Akira Toriyama had a hand in the (amazing) artwork. The game was basically OG Dragon Ball meets Final Fantasy, with the best from both. Totally worth buying and playing (repeatedly to get all the endings).

Funny enough the level up joke unintentionally lead to some of the fans to think that the two extra lives are how Frieza (not really a spoiler since you've seen the series) survive getting cut in half and the planet's implosion, if only he had gotten that third life, then Trunks would have been a different story

I suggest to watch lord slug after Goku shows up. You can watch it anytime before namek saga as well but it's not like it messes with the continuity. As soon as piccolo absorbs nail, that's when you start seeing things that happen "after" Lord Slug. Btw Hellsing abridge is amazing, I've noticed you haven't checked out Deadly Seven Sins abridged or Bleach abridged. DEFINITELY recommend by project mouthwash I think. Fate Stay Night/ Unlimited Blade Works abridged is good as well(only one I've never seen the original). You will love the female protag

8:55 LittleKuriboh has been Frieza and the narrator from the start. TFS were fans of Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged and wanted to make a collab. He actually auditioned for Ginyu, but the scene he sent had him talking to Frieza and they liked his Frieza voice more.

Nail didn't become none existant. He is part of Piccolo. It was kind of explained better by Kami later in the original series. Piccolo is the one that absorbed Nail as a part of the fusion, so his personality is the predominant one, but Nail is there too. When he joined with Kami too his personality changed, but was still over-all Piccolo, he said himself to Goku ahah. They could have done more, but they were still there 😛

I never really understood the "gokus a bad parent" bit, i get tfs is making a damn funny joke in it, but ever since they poked fun at it all dbz fans have been saying is that goku is a trash parent when he is really doing the best (best ish) he can. gokus first time leaving his son was when he straight up died trying to get him back, and was dead for a year as a result. Normal parents in this situation dont get to come back so him coming back is a massive plus towards parent hood. second time they seperated was when gohan left to help piccolo return, and goku literally chased after him the moment he could. 3rd time was after freiza which was when the dragon could of brought goku back but refused since he fealt he could learn things on the trip, and its theorized he was already at an alien planet when they tried to wish goku back (which i believe was 4? months after freizas defeat) followed up by like 3 ish years? or something skip without goku being around where goku came back, got told of androids and spent the next year training and with family (and training with gohan) at this point gohan was around i think 10 or 11. goku was there for over half, and back for the remainder after his buu death. he missed out on i think 5 ish years of his life, 2 of those years are completly unnovoidable with him 1 being dead 2 them having to wait for the dragon balls to recharge to bring him back. (he did drop the ball with goten though, straight up could of been back but choose not to and lost out on 7 years of his newest childs life. but at the same time his reasoning is pretty fair for why he shouldnt come back so its hard to argue this especcially with the dragonballs preventing death, meaning a parent in this series literally has to be a parent till the kid leaves since the parent cant die
