Toei named Krillin's girlfriend Maron because Krillin, "Kuri" means Chestnut and Maron is that but in French, I think. His daughter is Marron, with 2 r's, and Toriyama didn't know about that filler so that's why everyone thinks he named her after his ex (when in reality it was 18 who named her)

Before this episode came out, we all wonder how Team Four Star was going to handle the Garlic Jr. Saga. Then when this came out, we all laughed at how brilliant this episode is. Let me count the ways: 1) There's a unique opening that trolled us into thinking the saga would be a thing. 2) They started the saga and ended it in one episode. They mainly focused on Maron's part and jettison all the bad parts of the Garlic Jr. Saga (which was most of it). 3) This is a great call-back to Krillin saying he took out a life insurance policy early in the Namek Saga. I told you it would come back. 4) Krillin's last name suggests he's either Hispanic or Spanish in the abridged series. Bulma called him Asian when they crashed on Fake Namek, but that could mean that he's half-Asian. While it really doesn't matter, it hints that there is much about Krillin that we really know nothing about.

I always took it as him reaching for the first family name he could think of because it's required to get insurance but he doesn't have one. Either way, this episode marks the beginning of TFS really leaning into and exploring the characters they've created for dbza. it's the reason why the Dragonshorts and Cell in a HFIL are so amazing too. Krillin and Lazuli on a date is just pure gold. When i watch that one, I just feel happy for the both of them and that'S a tough act to pull off, given that we're talking about Fanfiction with Tenkaichi Budokai models of altered versions of fictional characters

You're missing out on Dragon Ball!!! I'm sure you'll get to it someday, but man, you just grow such a fondness for young goku because he's so pure and innocent, and at first it feels like an adventure but as you go on, especially towards the end, the series gets way more serious and you can start to see the precursors to DBZ.

Plus the show has actual martial arts instead of just powering up for 3 episodes to fire a light beam at someone. And characters like Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Roshi, etc. are actually awesome instead of just being canon fodder.

For context, episode Kai abridged 2.9 was announced as Kai abridged season 3 and it wound up being an April fool's joke that was also a return to absurd, irreverent jokes. It is also one of the last things TFS created in the abridged series. Also, there's a lot of Gohan and action in there.

Killing is the strongest TRUE human in the world. Goku and Vegeta are Saiyans. Their kids are half-Saiyans. Piccolo is a Namekian. The Androids are Androids. Tenshinhan is, if I recall correctly, descended from a race of alien refugees. Which leaves Yamcha, who Krillin surpassed during the Freeza saga, with the boost from Guru.

Non-canon arc or abridged series, Krillin really deserved better than that....*woman*. I cannot tell you how satisfied I was when the Buu Saga came around and he was married to Eighteen. I also *loved* the angle TFS took with Marron here. That said, she's the one who's dead wrong about how Krillin would do in prison. He's semi(?)-canonically a little over four times stronger than Saiyan Saga Vegeta right now, he could crack the Earth like an egg if he wanted to.

Yeah I see a lot of recommendations for Kai 2.9, but I (really) didn't like the off color jokes in that one. Some of the rest was funny, but the implied n* and r* slurs really made it fall flat for me
