Tenkaichi 3 also had a great soundtrack which bugs the HELL out of me when people diss it for no good reason. I haven't played the second game so I can't judge it too much anyway, but I HAVE put many hours into BT3 and I can tell you that it's soundtrack is definitely no slouch and up to par. I know this cause I was always jamming and enjoying nearly every song in the game whenever they were played even including the ones that were my least favorite. There were some that were more catchy and more impactful than others, but I would be lying through my teeth if I didn't say that they weren't fitting for a captivating battle experience. It bothers me that people seem to throw BT3's soundtrack under the bus just because they liked BT2's better.... which if fine, but to say that BT3's was lacking?? Fuck that noise, quite frankly.

Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down) - Fusions mid-battle - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel - Tons of extra content - Story mode covering all sagas + movies - What If sagas - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot) - Great tournaments that rotate availability - Edit characters with items (buffs) - 5v5 battles - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks - Destroyable environments - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives - Mission 100 being a great challenge - Artwork is 10/10 - Sound effects are great - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective. ✌☯️

Most dont realize that bt2 had waaay more pvp depth, its hard to get to that level due to bt2 having the worst/easiest AI... that said bt3 generally has more balanced/casual pvp experience for less advanced players... bt2 can be borderline cheese if the skill difference is too much

(WARNING: LONG TEXT) If anyone is into fighting games and the competitive scene, I'm gonna explain what the video didn't. That is the fighting system of both games and their differences competitively. I have a summary at the end if this is TL;DR for you. Starting off with Tenkaichi 2. It has a lot of combos and the ways you can connect different combos together are great. You can use a Lift Strike to chain combos together, or you can use Ki Blasts to reset your current combo, therefore having way more options as to what you can do now. And these are just two ways, there are a lot more. With the ability to cancel chargable moves like the smash, you can do a practically infinite combo, as long as the enemy doesn't know how to counteract it. Tenkaichi 2 has tricks like the Ground Dash, Free Will, Zenkai Dash, Slingshots, R2 Cancel, R2 Slide etc. The movement is completely free in this game, you could retreat at any point in your combo using an R2 Cancel or a Free Will, or use those tricks to get behind your opponent to start a combo they can't guard. The Sway in this game is much more powerful too, being able to dodge almost every chargable attack or even a Rush Blast 2. Speaking of dodging, the defensive options are great in this game. You can guard in every direction (Up, Down, Left, Right and Front), and each option leaves yourself open to certain attacks, making it always possible to get through someones defense if they're not careful. You can also just use movement as a way to evade the opponents attacks. It's all about predicting what the opponent will do, anticipating it and starting a counter attack that they can't guard. If you fail that, you are the one trapped in a combo. Something that casual players don't realize is that both the Ground-game and the Air-game are different as well. The ground-game allows for the Ground Dash and the R2 Cancel. It's also possible to do jumping Ki-Blasts, which are generally speaking more effective than normal Ki-Blasts. It makes fakeouts more effective, like the Slingshot. The Air-game doesn't allow for jumping Ki-Blasts. You can do Free Wills to move around the air and it is usually slower than the ground-game. R2 Cancels are impossible, making infinite combos only viable by either timing or cancelling a smash. Because Ki Blasts are deflectable, the air-game is usually more dangerous to go to. The depth of this game is incredible. Now onto Tenkaichi 3. It added new moves like the Delta Storm, the Tri Attack, the Blaster Wave Combo etc. They made existing moves look a lot better and they made some improvements like the Z-Counter being much easier to do now, Rush Blast 2s now being able to be guarded against, jumping Ki Blasts being able to be done anywhere now and the Dragon Dash actually being useful. The Sonic Sway got introduced too, making counters easier. It has great tricks like the Rush Reset Combo or the Dragon Dash Cancel, but it has some major differences. Cancelling chargable attacks is impossible in this game, taking away a major part of the depth of T2. The Z-Counter, while being easier to do now, teleports behind the opponent and smashes him away, instead of letting you start a combo like in T2. More combo moves may have been added, but almost every combo is easily teleported by pressing Guard at the right time, making it impossible to do long combos in actual battles. The movement got incredibly restricted, you can't do any of the movement tricks from T2 like the Ground Dash or Free Will effectively, making it impossible to use movement as a defense. It just feels sloppy compared to T2 and takes away even more depth to Tenkaichi. More characters got added, but because the tricks of the predecessor got taken out, they all feel the same. The defensive options were not spared. You can't guard left/right anymore, the Sway got heavily nerfed and as I stated above, movement is not a valid defense anymore. Attacks have gotten more simple, you only have to hold guard to defend them in most cases. Predicting what the opponent will do next is unnecessary, planning ahead is unnecessary too. You only have to hold Guard or teleport at the right time in most cases, as attacks have gotten so much simpler. I can't say much to the ground-/airgame, as both are practically the same. Don't get me wrong, I love Tenkaichi 3, tricks like the DDC and RRC look awesome, the fighting feels much more fast-paced and the game feels much more refined, thus much more DBZ-like than T2, but competitively speaking it just pales in comparison to it. Which is sad, because Tenkaichi 3 is the game everyone goes to, while no one dares to touch Tenkaichi 2. And if they do, they just spam Square (Attack) anyway and get angry when the opponent inevitably adapts. TL;DR version: Tenkaichi 2 has incredible depth. With tricks making movement and combat amazing, defensive options + cancels allowing to play mind games with the opponent, predicting what the enemy does next, anticipating it and doing the appropriate counter all while knowing that if you made a mistake, you get punished by a combo from the opponent, Tenkaichi 2 is without a doubt the most competitive Tenkaichi in the triology. Tenkaichi 3 has added a lot of new moves, it made dragon dashing useful and it felt way faster while comboing, but it took way too much away. Cancels are no longer possible, guarding and sway dodging got heavily nerfed, almost all T2 tricks got taken out, making movement way too restricted to be an important part of the game (outside of teleports of course), the Z-Counters no longer allowing for you to start a combo etc. The game has been heavily simplified and is designed to appeal to casual players. It is just sad that Tenkaichi 3 gets all the praise and is the one game everyone goes to, while Tenkaichi 2 has a much deeper fighting system and gets left in the dust. I by no means want to say that everyone who plays T3 is trash and I am not saying that Tenkaichi 3 is awful. I am just saying that in a competitive sense, Tenkaichi 2 has the upper hand.

Well said. Completely agree with this. I played 2 before 3 and As soon as I started playing 3, I could feel the little things it lacked in, that it’s Second title shined. Because of the depth BT2 was given to its battle mechanics, like having to anticipate your opponents next move, planing ahead by making plan A, B and C just in case. You could really feel like your really in the Game fighting your heart out against the CPU. It’s was adrenaline inducing and rewarding when you would beat a ridiculous op CPU and finally could move forward with the next challenge after really learning the Opponents move set to heart and out strategizing Him. In 3 most of that kind of went away with its attempt to reach the more casual audience. (Probably why it’s the most known to begging with since more groups of people played it) Regardless, as a heavy gamer you could feel the lack of depth in the fighting of the Game and it just felt like your just using a Character skin with its respective move set, rather than you as a player becoming sucked in and fully immersed in the games world. Over all as a fighting game. DragonBall Z budokai Tenkaichi 2 is the superior title of the Series.

@@skater_obsession2449 "ridiculius OP CPU" The CPU is actually why I stopped playing T2 and played T3 way more often because I found T3's way more challenging. The Very Hard CPU in T2 was piss easy as soon as you learned how to squarex5, X, squarex4, lift strike, air combo, rinse and repeat. The CPU never gave any trouble as soon as you learned that basic maneuver, and it made winning against it over and over and over the easiest thing in the world. There was no such easy cheat for T3's CPU though.

I'm one of the few people that believes the gameplay in Budokai Tenkaichi 2's gameplay is better than 3's because of how much it greatly improved the choppy unpolished errors of the previous one, had it not been for the second one, Budokai Tenkaichi would not have been loved as it is now, and will always hold a special place in my heart, with great improving gameplay, soundtrack, atmosphere, and finally making me the Dragon Ball fan I am now.

Same it wasn't until me deep diving into 2 that I watched and read the whole series up to that point. I was never into the side view Budokai fighters nearly as much, though Burst Limit is underrated imo. It's a shame 3's story mode is so underwhelming and half hearted in comparison because there's more characters and stages.

You can actually change the difficulty and pick the tournament grounds in Tenkaichi 3, same as in 2, it's just that Tenkaichi 3 splits it into World Tour and Free Mode. In free mode you can pick whatever you want, it's in World Tour that the tournaments and difficulty are set and you can't change them.

Nice Video, but you miss some important things there: Tenkaishi 3 have better roster ( Exept for multiple same characters ). Tenkaishi 2 have better Music, better Story Mode, Level System is a challenge in the game thats all. If they remake Tenkaishi they need to combine Tenkaishi 2 & 3.

Tenkaichi 2 is better in story but don't forget the free roam in Story is Limited it has slightly better music but not in Gameplay i played both recently and found out in T2 you had to always Lock on before attacking ur opponent which i find a bit annoying and also the animations were improved upon in T3 like Ultimates Doing The Fusion dance in T2 was hard asf in T3 it was a breeze Tenkaichi 3 Has Online but Tenkaichi 2 does not but it is a easier game though i rather play the polished version Tenkaichi 3 though.

Tenkaichi 2 is a huge step up from 1, hence why it's so fondly remembered, but I'll never understand how people prefer it over 3. In 3 you have so much more freedom of movement (like being able to TURN when dashing instead of having to go in a straight line). Like, I know the story mode gets unreal praise, but why? It's a boring, tedious slog where you fly to a spot on the map, wait for it to load, watch a single unanimated cutscene, wait for it to load, pick your fighters, wait for it to load, and finally you do the actual fight. Repeat 20 to 30 times for every "saga". Even the movies get padded out to hell and back. 3 had the right idea condensing the story down and having it play out mid-fight. And not only did it have a bigger roster, but it had more movesets. For example, in 2, Raditz had unique physical attacks, but his special moves were all stock energy blasts. In 3 he finally got unique ones. This goes for just about every character, even if a few of them share similar moves, like Super Explosive Wave. imo, the only advantage 2 has over 3 is that Dark Half song.

Tenkaichi 3 is about twice more fun than Tenkaichi 2. It has more characters, better music, more modes, more stages, better animations, better combos, more combos, better menus etc... The only thing Tenkaichi 2 is better at is the Story Mode, which is longer but people give it too much credit for having a stupid flying over the map thing instead of a simple menu. Tenkaichi 3 wins.

Is ALWAYS better than quantity.. that's why all these new games are so fucked up..they rely on graphics rather than more modes and more things you can do gameplay-wise. Now Tenkaichi 3 is not a bad game I go back to play it every now and then. However Tenkaichi 2 is where most people feel more at home. The reason why is, I play all my games on the hardest difficulty. So when I play Tenkaichi 2 it seems like a legit difficult battle, however now it's easier since I can play the game very well. Now I wouldn't mind losing in Tenkaichi 3 to the computer if they wouldn't be so cheap. The computer spams, and they always know what you're going to do, they mirror you. They can be standing still for five complete seconds in right when you throw one punch they snap vanish behind you.thats garbage.on top of that it's a lot of more unique things that I find I can do in Tenkaichi 2. for example you can create your own tag team specials that can cause the damage to come up to 40,000 if you do them right. Tenkaichi 3 has more characters, I don't care about that. But I don't like the AI, and I don't like the fact that the only way you can become damaged in battle is if you are blasted by a certain special, or you lose in a beam struggle.. Tenkaichi 2 is just more chill to me in my opinion. The games AI is more challenging on Tenkaichi 2 rather than cheap like Tenkaichi 3. PS, when you're doing a combo in Tenkaichi 3, the only way to get out is to snap vanish or pressed L1,in Tenkaichi 2 if someone messes up on their combo you can still back out of the way. in Tenkaichi 3 once a combo starts the game just let's the victim stay frozen no matter what the gameplay is broken in certain areas. Best game of all time is Budokai 1 and 3 in my opinion anyways

In bt2 the training mode sucks because the com always has to fight back,while bt3 you test your skills better because the com doesn't fight back but in all both are cool!

But you always heal back immediately, plus if you have some experience with the game it is not that hard to overcome this. The most important thing for me is that t2 has a lot of content in every mode, that's why I like it, apart from the gameplay. Perhaps the same goes for t3, I have not played that yet.

I think BT3 has the better story mode. It was more streamlined and to the point, and the ingame dialog gave it a more immersive edge. BT2's story mode is honestly kind of lame, flying around and landing in a city serves no purpose. You just talk to one character in a small city or outdoor set piece and there's nothing to do but walk up to the one character and have a short dialog with them which is just unnecessary loading screens and a waste of time. It feels like a lazy recreation or beta version of a much better final product. Also no one talks about this but BT2 has better sounds. The random pitch variation in the attacks sounds cool.

Tenkaichi 3 felt like a Tenkaichi 2 dlc 30 additionnal characters, but you needed Tenkaichi 1+2 for additional ranking game modes Also T3 felt empty in the story mode , even if they did added more DB and DBGT storylines

Puleva wargamer you could add speed.health.attack.ki. without it causing you to level something else down. In T3 the earrings sucked. Your character could be completely balanced. On T2. The combos were also better on T2 because you had to stun them at will,it wasn't mixed together with a combo. T3 was fun but T2 was just better from gameplay to the soundtrack. The very 1st time I played T3 I thought the combo system sucked even I mastered all 3 games.

Had both games. In budokai tenkaichi 2 u cant block fallow attacks. Witch battle with friends make more easy. Budokai tenkaichi 3 was way more intense battles. I played mostly vs friends this. Budokai tenkaichi 3 is still the best in the series. Remember random select

I don't know exactly what you mean by "fallow attacks", but you can block most attacks and teleport follow-up attacks by pressing guard at the right time. I can assure you, human vs human battles in Tenkaichi 2, if played right, can be much more intense than T3.

i liked bt3 fighting style and combos but i was so irritated by the charge attacks in bt3 even with the strongest characters they took too long to charge which left you wide open to enemy attacks and stopped you from getting the full power of the charge moves bc you had to let go of it so fast to get the attack off. in bt2 the stronger and faster your character was determined how strong and fast your charge attacks. in bt3 they can sit there and wait on it so they know exactly which way to block. idk tho that's just my opinion.i'd rather play the second one. i can have fun just playing and not be frustrated with the characters being so much stronger than me. i don't play most games for a challenge all the time. if i want that much of a challenge i'll play with someone else.

BT2 Has the better Perfect Cell BT3 Cell is trash also there are no arena destructions in BT3 where you could "Blow up" the planet (only in BT2) Bt3 has more BS added it's way more difficult to compete against AI if it uses this BS like Teleport rush everytime you want to combo, It costed more energy in BT2 so you where not blinkrushed early to mid game by AI, The tournament is random in BT3 what i find really weird also the quest/saga mode is kinda Lame in BT3. The only reason BT3 is good is because of Devilman, Best Character with the cheapest and fast E2. Totaly disagree that BT3 has better gameplay.

I think something you missed or didn't bring up was the fact that: in BT3, you can block the special moves where the opponent charges at you. but in BT2 you cannot block the special moves that begin with the opponent charging at you. But other than that almost everything was the same as you said but just from my memory of these amazing games was that: the specials were unblock able compared to BT3 :) still awesome games tho

Tenkaichi 2 has more chargeable attacks , more and better cutscenes in history mode (this is a deal breaker for Tenkaichi 3) , and better character customization. I like the gameplay in 2 better , i prefer strenght bar for hits in everything. Tenkaichi 3 runs at 60fps in PS2 though but lets all be honest here...who plays these games in ps2???? most of us that still play these games play it on an emulator.

Could you provide more examples because a few chargeable moves doesn't mean anything, a lot of attacks were improved in Tenkaichi 3 anyways so they're better in their own ways. All the games run at 30fps btw, ps2 is no different
