Unfortunately, it doesn’t exist. I took 1080p Japanese version footage, cleaned it up (removed the grain, improved the colors, etc), and used AI to rescale said footage to 4k. Then replaced the Japanese audio with the Ocean dub, cut out/edited it all to have the same scenes and timing as the original did (which cut out and sped up some scenes) and bingo, finished. It’s absolutely identical to the original in everyway but of course with improved 4K quality 😁

Wow, the drawings for DBZ’s animation are really good. And the animation is less cheap/limited than I remembered. It’s honestly beautiful. I appreciate that the production developed its own unique look over the years rather than recreating Toriyama’s manga art like the original Dragon Ball anime did.

IIRC. Dragonball Z was originally licensed by Funimation working with Saban Entertainment for distribution in North America up until partway through the Frieza saga, and they produced their soundtrack and voiceovers via the Ocean Group company in Canada. But in its original run Dragonball Z was eventually set to pasture as Saban scaled down their operations and shifted focus, and so the license died. Then Toonami picked up the show and started running it in the afternoons with their action cartoons, and it suddenly blew up huge in popularity. So Funimation picked up the license again for the United States, but this time decided to start dubbing it with their own in-house studio, and that's what Toonami wound up using. Some of the distributors outside of the United States decided to seek out a continuation of the original Ocean Group dub, though, which aired in Canada and other non-U.S. Western countries.

Ocean dub was the version I listened to when I watched this scene for the first time. EVERY other version fails EPICALLY at recreating the EMOTIONAL INTENSITY in the character's tone of voice. Another issue with non-ocean dub versions was the poor quality banter that would OFTEN downplay scenes involving intense emotions. Oh, and that music of the non-ocean version. It felt so outdated that it would feel so out of place. Like going to a rock concert expecting loud strong music, but instead, u get a slow Jazz that would put u to sleep. Ocean dub is and was the PEAK of Dragonballz audio. EVERYTHING else is so bad that it's like getting less than half the entertainment value the Ocean dub brings.

I like the newer vegeta dub however, the ocean dub vegeta is the original I heard, has a much better scream in my opinion, and lets be honest screaming is half the show so it’s needed lol. Finally, it’s over 9000 wouldn’t have existed without this vegeta. So this voice will forever be my personal favorite.

its because of the ocean dub that i watch dbz, even though when it came to the US, it was hevily censored, but i loved every moment of it... it was a real shame that funimation decided to change the voices right in the middle of the namek saga. i do like the voces now, but the ocean dub voices will always be my favorite.
