This was a very different transformation than what Dragon Ball is used to. There's usually explosions and lightning and bright colors flying everywhere in a raw display of power; this one really sold the transition to godhood. The oceans started to hum and glow, whirlpools started forming, golden clouds started coalescing in the sky, day turned to night and back in moments, seasons passed each second, and through all that the whole sequence maintainted a calm, tranquil atmosphere, almost preluding to the calm demeanor a Saiyan has when in this state. If it were shortened to half the time or less, this could be the best transformation sequence Dragon Ball will have ever seen.

It's quite a great detail that they showed with the ritual. If you look to see how each person is placed, it's sorta represents the saiyans of each generation. Goku is the original saiyan and the one in front. Vegeta and Gohan are the 2nd generation saiyans. Generation isnt meaning age, but rather, the ones to show up in the series. Then you have 3rd generation with Goten and Trunks. Finally, you have the 4th generation of saiyans with Pan (who is inside Videl)

Guys all that happened was Pan's cells reacted to the super saiyan energy. So yes she did turn ssj. But again her body isn't form yet. But her cells did mutate into S cells or better yet she has them from Gohan. Remember we're not following the GT timeline she's alot more powerful now. This is an instance where them having to pad out the movie into episodes really helped make this part a big improvement over the movie. Not the most emotionally resonant or intense transformation in the series but definitely the most beautiful to look at. Love the golden clouds and they really did an excellent job with this.

If I was there I and I was the Avatar, I would say this: Guys, I see the problem. Not only you need 6 six to become a Super Saiyan God, you also need the Avatar to say the ritual. Everyone, close your eyes. Goku, hold my hands. I ask for help from the stars and beyond, Please give me and Goku the strength and power of a God. Raava reconnects with me, comes out of me as the Avatar Spirit, and circles around me and the Saiyans. When the other Saiyans give all of their power to not just Goku, also to me as the Avatar, Raava returns back inside of me, and always will be there with me. Goku becomes a Super Saiyan God. And I go through a much stronger power than the Avatar State. I enter which I call The Avatar God State. Goku's hair turns red. My eyes and body glow the same red energy as Goku.
