Between the main three, Frieza was a cold emperor, he was a sinister man who forced others to do his work out of fear and torment his opponents, he was pure evil. Cell was a more personal villain, he not only mimicked how the characters fight, he knew what they were like, how they thought and used that against them, really hitting them on a psychological level that even the androids couldn't. Majin Buu was a mad man, while the other two were very evil, they had some level of intellect and that saved the Z Fighters from being instantly killed, Buu was unpredictable and animalistic, you never knew what he was thinking he just smiled and killed.

Let's not forget how the villains were. The Saiyans destroyed one city (Nappa), Frieza destroyed the Namekians (with help) and Namek while losing a battle. Cell absorbed humans along with 17 and 18 but never destroyed the planet. Buu, on the other hand, wiped out the inhabitants of earth (leaving only Mr. Satan/Hercule, B and Vegito) and soon after, destroyed earth. The only villain in DBZ history to actually destroy the planet Goku was on.

Let's never forget the fact that Majin Buu (Kid Buu specifically), was the only villain in Dragon Ball history that not only destroyed Earth (unlike Freeza or Cell), but went to heaven aka Other World, to fight already dead people. I repeat, he went to the afterlife and started to kill them off again! And it was not even filler! Including Krillin, Yamcha, Pikkon, Olibu! And the other people that were present like King Kai! He was going to literally wipe off the afterlife for people who had been granted a body by King Yemma to live in instead of just being a spirit! That's just insane writing they made for the last satisfying villain of the original DBZ series. The disrespect and the utter humiliation of this pink bubblegum demon with no care for any person's life or even planets was just absolutely astonishing. A true menace. One of the best and successful villains in anime history. Hands down. Oh and his theme song also is one of the best ever made.

I've always been a fan of Super Buu's theme from Dragon Ball Z, Bruce Falconer had such an amazing ear for music and detail, and this was among my top 10 favorite themes, right up there with Perfect Cell's theme, Vegeta's Final Flash theme, Goku's Super Saiyan theme, SSJ3, Hikari No Willpower, and a few others.

Super Buu is my favorite version of Buu. Between his extinction attack and his assault on the LookOut he’s had every opportunity to look like a proper monster. Majin Buu may have wiped out a city but we see that every other week in Dragonball, and Kid Buu never obliterated the innocent on the scale that Suoer Buu did. No other villain captures that sense of dread and chills when Krillin told 18 and Marin to run before running into his own fate and then 5 seconds later both 18 and Marin get turned into chocolate and eaten that’s some horror movie shit.

Super Buu's my least favorite honestly. I'm fine with pure evil, but when your villains entire personality is just "evil", then something's wrong. Frieza was sadistic, and believed himself to be superior to everyone. He's evil for sure, but his personality is what makes him evil, not the other way around. Cell also saw himself as superior and above all other "imperfect" lifeforms. Super Buu is evil just because. He has no defining traits other than that. He isn't motivated by anything, and that makes his evil feel forced. Kid Buu is way better in my opinion because he actually has a personality; that of a very evil and insane child. He doesn't even have to say anything to communicate the fact that he loves causing destruction and killing people for fun. Kid Buu doesn't care about anything or anyone. He will destroy as many planets and kill as many people as he wants so long as he has fun doing it. I think Kid Buu is my favorite because although he doesn't cause as much destruction as Super Buu, he is far more compelling and intimidating.

That’s why he went straight after Gotenks since Goku promised Fat Buu a new challenger. If he was just simply evil for evils sake he would’ve just wiped out everyone on the Lookout without any second thought. Fat Buu is the kid that doesn’t know what he’s doing is wrong, Kid Buu is the kid that doesn’t care what he’s doing is wrong and Super Buu is the impatient kid that throws a tantrum to get what they want.
