Core memory unlock! This was one of the games I got Christmas day 1991 with my Game Gear! Forgotten classic!

Amazing! How far did you get into it back in the day?
@disneydadcraig24 күн бұрын
@GouldFishOnGames I think I only saw the egg hatch about 5 times, it was ridiculously hard for a 9 year old 🤣 I think every time it went in I'd play 3 or 4 times then switch it out for Castle Of Illusion or G-Loc

Its not the easiest of games, I had a few runs that ended on the very first room I started in as it was full of enemies!

Love me some Game Gear & having what felt at the time like a full sized RPG on the handheld was awesome at the time but it wasn’t that big of a game, which was lucky as like you said there was no save option! You’ve lost a lot of weight since I last saw you on camera, well done. I’m glad to see a video on Dragon Crystal it defiantly deserves more love than it gets. Thanks.

Yeah the lack of save is a real issue, even a password would have helped. but in the 90s saving was really expected as you could sink a lot of time into it. and thanks, been working to loose weight over the last few years, lost almost 15kg / 32lbs this year.

@@GouldFishOnGames well done with weight, you should be proud of yourself.

Clever intro; I thought you were describing how you across this game. Neat to see you reviewing Game Gear games so soon after your Game Gear console creation video. 0:49 - I thought this had released on the Master System as well. Real interesting to learn it was a Game Gear first game. 1:52 - Nice also to see you show the differences between the two versions. I prefer the latter's music but the former has a nice cheeriness to it. 3:32 - Ah, yes, the Mystery Dungeon style of gameplay. I only played a bit of this game before (can't remember where I played it) and never knew that the 'slime' following behind you was actually an egg. 5:20 - Oh, there are multiple classes? That's more indepth than I thought, given they all are warrior based from the looks of it. 7:26 - Oooh, that is devious. Rather like how people play type randomisers of Pokémon games. 9:21 - I see Death can choose to look the other way with the right bribe in this game. 12:54 - Wait, what!? Then what is the point of the dragon!? Crazy that they'd title the game after it only for it to be a pointless visual feature. From the looks of it, you can't even pet the dragon.

I've been trying to play with the intro more, to give the basic plot of the game in a more interesting way. then just looking at the manual if its a just a few lines of text. and yeah it was in the making of the GG console that I re-discovered the loose copy of the game that I had. ended up enjoying it enough I made the video. When I found out the dragon was just cosmetic, I had to check multiple guides to make sure it was true. as it feels like a major thing just to be not useful in any way.

@@GouldFishOnGames Did you use your GG console to record this review then? Certainly would be a cool way to show it off.

I regard this game as probably the best SMS / GG title that fewest played. Your channel is great.

Great review! I'm guessing this game is related to Fatal Labyrinth on the Mega Drive! :)
@GouldFishOnGames24 күн бұрын
Thanks. It feels like this might have started as a cutdown version of Fatal Labyrinth then sorta went in its own direction. as it does share some artwork and some basic ideas.

They're both roguelikes, so they're pulling from the same source material.

Dont know where your channel came from (I was watching an AVGN iceberg vid) but sweet vid, I always liked those niche rpg adventure games that always seem to fall through the cracks of game libraries when talking about the greats.

Played a lot of Fatal Labyrinth, and yes, you end up leaving the console on, lol. Great memories, thanks for a great video.

Fatal Labyrinth did look interesting, annoying that it to didn't have a save feature.
