@@gone.golfing cause our middle school started at 9am, but kids would come in as early as 6:30 no security till like 7:30 and they never walked around yet cause there was almost no one there. teachers don't start coming in to work till 8:30. The class we chose to play in was an on the science building which is pretty much the oldest part of the school unpopular to go to. the second reason we chose this area is cause the emergency fire escape window is easy to rig and open. the science building is also locked till 8:40 which meant we could go in and there would be no one to say anything. the classroom we picked had no assign teacher in it so when the bell rung we would just pack up and leave. we made sure to close the windows and tape the glass on the door so no one could look inside. when I was in 8th grade they had discovered quite a few kids would come at 6:30am so they did change some rules and started patrolling around the school to send kids to auditorium they didn't want kids playing basketball out there by themselves unsupervised. since the science class was on the other side I could just wait till they finished that area and pop out from the tree and run towards the window. never got caught.

Glad to see you back! This is an awesome one. I was just starting my first job in the arcades as this tech marvel was coming out. That much like MK months before it drastically changed the clientele that was not only drifting into arcades, but was pretty much living there after school. These machines shipped with oversized coin drawers and were having to be emptied on Friday afternoon just to make it to Sunday evening. I have no mental reference of what the teenage crowd was like in the Pacman fever era, but even my boss at the arcade said he had never seen anything like this before, even in the 80s when Dragonslayer came out. We had a few Midway (Jam/MK) machines and people lined up to battle the next winner from open to close on weekends, and holiday weeks in the winter hours. Anyways thanks again for the awesome content!

From around 1987 to 1998 I was really into basketball and the NBA. I played it on teams, collected basketball cards, had jerseys and clothing, new shoes each year, went to basketball camps in the summer, and watched it all the time on TV. I also was VERY into video games throughout that time. Both in arcades and at home, having as many as 5 home consoles at my peak. NBA Jam was a game that I really enjoyed. To some extent it was limited, and a short play. Nothing like Legend of Zelda Link to the Past or others like that. But it was just fun. I played it in arcades and on my SNES. It was a real mark of that time. Something I’ll always associate with the early and mid-90’s.

As the only witness to that, none of my friends at the time believed me.

Thanks a lot! But there's no team, I (Yahel) do everything. The writing, research, 3d stuff, editing, hosting, and catering. But dude, it coming off like there's a team is a huge compliment. Sincerely thank you.

Another amazing video! You have really honed your 3D and editing skills! I have a ton of respect for big modern games but man... those old-school games made with small teams where you can just feel all the developers' ingenuity, personality and hard work were something special.
@WrestlingWithGamingАй бұрын
I agree, there's something special about the games from that era. And thanks, I've been working hard on improving my 3D work.

I really enjoyed this and super pumped you had Tim Kitzrow in this video. I definitely have fond memories of playing NBA Jam TE on SNES, NBA Hangtime on SNES and NBA on NBC on N64. I miss these games. On Fire Edition was actually not bad

I grew up with arcades in the 80s. In the 90s there was an NBA Jam arcade game at the student union in college. I got addicted to that game. Love love loved it.

Welcome back I am so glad you are okay from Milton! I got lucky and fortunate here in Palm Harbor. It was a lot of stress for all us in Tampa Bay NBA Jam is one of my all time favorites! I remember it being one of my first true arcade experiences with my older brother at Aladdin's Castle in Countryside mall and Celebration Station!

Thanks! Glad to hear you were ok. Thankfully I didn't have any major damage but a ton of debris cleanup. Hopefully we're done with hurricanes for the year.

When this game came out, I had a Sega Genesis and there was a gaming competition that Blockbuster held. I was the kid who won in my Long Beach neighborhood BB. I went on to play against the other winning kids from different parts of the state at Knot's Berry Farms. I lost in the 2nd round. It was because I played the computer most of the time instead of real people. NBA Jam was so much fun, because even if you played a lot of basketball, which I did, it was like living your wildest fantasies you couldn't do on the real court. Thanks for the info.

as a kid in 93,just after the wall in east germany fell,this game was heaven back than. played the SNES version and i love it to this day. a classic for sure.

I wasn't even a basketball fan, and I loved going to the arcade, getting blazed, and then playing this. Bonus is there was an MK cabinet next to it.
