Not a Lupin role, but he played Kermit the Frog in the old Muppet movies. Yamada singing Rainbow Connection is wonderful

It's sad that these videos aren't getting that many views. When there's alot of quality put into them. Kinda reflects the series.

Rest in peace Yasuo Yamada, you have touched so many people as your voice of Lupin the 3rd over the years.

I remember the first time I saw this and I hadn't read anything about Yasuo Yamadas illness... But I could tell that it sounded like Lupin wasn't well. And it was sad. Granted, I would have loved Yasuo to have voiced Lupin in "Dead or Alive". I still think of Yasuo Yamada as being THE Lupin.

Dragon of Doom is probably the biggest case of differing opinions between the Japanese and English-speaking parts of the fanbase, as in Japan this special is a huge fan favorite, not just due to high ratings, it constantly makes it to the top 5 in all the popularity polls as well. Meanwhile, most English-speaking fans (me included) just think this one's okay. I do appreciate how you noticed the difference in Zenigata's treatment here, since in all the Hiroshi Kashiwabara written specials and episodes (at least until Alcatraz Connection) he's basically just a walking punching bag, while here, even though he has nothing to do, he at least doesn't spend every scene suffering or being laughed at.

Some interesting facts related to this special: I technically haven't watched this special fully yet, but I became interested in it after finding out it was related to the opening animation of the Sega Game Lupin III Master File. The game itself isn't that interesting, it's basically just a database for Lupin fans, but the intro animation and designs are awesome and it's one of my favorite obscure pieces of Lupin media. Masatomo Sudo is also involved in the Master File animation and Fujiko in that intro is basically wearing a color swapped outfit that she wears at the end of this special.

It was pretty sad that Yamada passed away, but at least Kanichi Kurita is carrying Yamada's legacy on after the premiere of Farewell to Nostradamus the following year after his death.

What was so great about Yasuo Yamada was that no matter the tone of the Lupin piece, he always fit. Edgier Lupin? Check. Lighter Lupin? Check. Somewhere in between? Check. He could do anything. Kanichi Kurita is an excellent Lupin, but it took him some time to really settle into the role. Yamada had it from day one. RIP Anyway, great video. I love the Lupin content on this channel.

Rest in Peace Yasuo Yamada. He was an actor who could pull off both Lupins wacky and vulnerable moments.

I find dragon of doom to be alright. I kinda find it to be a great lupin adventure to watch constantly while not thinking much about it. It does have its problems but they've never bothered me. It does suck that it's Yasuo Yamada's last performance as lupin though as it feels like a very underwhelming send off for the actor

As my first Lupin movie after finding out about the series thanks to the Geneon dub of Part 2, I quite liked the movie even though I've only watched it a few times. In regards to how Goemon beats the Stealth Bomber, I think the general idea was just that he was "mastering" Zantetsuken to a new level. Which definitely is a weak excuse, since you could then easily just say that the bomber was a new alloy stronger than the material used to make Zantetsuken and get the same outcome. Though I think that boils down to how the sword's power does fluctuate depending on the work. In some works, it's able to cleave objects that no sword would even be able to scrape, and then others it seems to only work on reasonably smaller objects and people. As for the dub, I can agree the Funi cast is a mixed bag, with Sonny's Lupin feeling just ever so slightly weaker than Tony's, and that's saying something as Sonny Strait does a pretty damn good job in some of his other dub roles, like Usopp in One Piece and Maes Hughes in Fullmetal Alchemist. Likewise, Chris' Jigen is very solid, though I do find myself overall preferring Richard's voice when it comes to Jigen. I'm of the same mind with Goemon's English voice, not bad, but also not really memorable either.
