I think this is my... third time watching this series through again? It’s just so soothing, and your passion for the game really comes through in the commentary. You’re so obviously in the zone, and the more laid-back style of DQB is really well-suited to your style. :D I’d also love to see you finish this game! Out of all the recent spin-offs in the Dragon Quest games with this and Dragon Quest Heroes, I will say that this is definitely my favorite. Dragon Quest Heroes is more for the core gamer in mind while Dragon Quest Builders knows how to make the gamer have a nice and relaxing time with getting engaged with something so simple, but so steep in its execution. I would love to see more of this series from you, Tim. Even after the first chapter. Heck, I would love to see more Dragon Quest games done from you on here aside from just the first one you played. :)

Just to confirm here this game does in fact have some randomness to it but as far as I know the caves are the only thing that are randomized, that and some important items.

I love these types of games! It reminds me of sitting in my room as a kid with my PS1 on really late at night & listening to the peaceful music while gathering/farming stuff! Damn this game is so cosy ^_^

This looks like a lot of fun to watch. :D I do hope you'll read more of the text as it gets away from stating the obvious and into the actual story. I've never played this nor have I played a game like it so it's nice to know more about what's going on. Like, later in the episode you started talking a lot more about what you were planning to do and why you were going out of your way for stuff. That was really helpful. :)

Finishing my 4th full playthrough of the game (1st on PS4, 2nd on Switch, 3rd on PS4 again, 4th on Vita) and still haven't gotten enough, so time to re-watch this LP.

So happy! I loved this game when I had it. I think I only completed some of the challenges incidentally; I never went out of my way for it, but it was still so much fun. I'm really looking forward to DQ Builders 2! Also, I'm the same way when it comes to getting distracted. I'll be going after one goal, then see another & go for it, etc. It's gotten so bad that other folks have to pull me back to focus. :D

I just spent about the past 5 hours working on my first town, building it up like crazy, no breaks, non-stop. That just goes to show how addicting it can be. I've got a pretty awesome town going right now I'm hoping I can share a pic or two of it later once I've finished it.

Hey Tim, I'm not sure what it is about this game, but after you started getting into it, I was immediately drawn in. I haven't played this game, but it looks like it could be amazing. I love this game and enjoy when you do chill games especially. So I would enjoy seeing an LP of this no matter how long. You could always break it up into days devoted to one thing such as building or resource gathering. But either way it would be enjoyable. :3

Considering my first foray into dragon quest was actually the monster spin off... I actually feel bad when monsters die. A chimera was a favorite of mine due to how goofy it looked.

6:10 - The trees, rocks, grass, and anything else that's an incidental object can be randomized. But mountains, buildings and plot-related objects never change. Also, the chests are always in the same place.

I don't know anything about this series, but once you got going I liked it. I love when games allow you to bypass a mechanic like time passing to get a head start on future tasks. It's like built-in "cheating" in a way that creates great replay value.

I would like to see more of these kinds of Let's Plays. Personally, I tend to listen to them like a podcast when I drive to and from school. I think these kinds of LP's work well since there isn't too much of a story to focus on. I think they let you tell your own stories which are why I subbed to you many (MANY) years ago. *personal story incoming* I think I first found your Breaking NCS channel when I was looking up videos of lightning and found one of you and your old roommate at the time running around outside during the thunderstorm. At first I thought you were super funny and interesting. Not saying that you aren't still funny or interesting, but eventually I fell out of your videos because a change in tastes. I found myself back and continuing to watch after your 40 Years videos. It was so fascinating to me to listen to you retell your life's story from the beginning. There you were, a modest boy with his own set of problems, and then a 20 year old beginning to take on the world, and here you are now sitting on the throne of your own empire. You may not be Pewdiepie or anything, but a lot of people could only dream about being where you are today. I find myself drawn to those 40 Years videos because as I grow older (22 now) I find myself questioning life and if there is any point in trying, but seeing your videos and seeing you ask the very same questions and even yelling at yourself to improve resonates with me quite a bit. Thanks for all of the videos throughout the years, Tim. They're entertaining as hell. I would like to see this LP continue.

I really hope you do all of this game, especially the later chapters, because I was surprised with how quality it was. I had heard it was a good game, and you, you know, figure that's just because Minecraft's such a rock solid game on its own that a game based on it has a hard time being bad. But thanks to this game having the Dragon Quest Soul in addition (all the famous items and enemies, little vignettes of story, etc), it makes for a surprisingly fun experience. Another reason I want to see all of this game is that it could realy do with another comprehensive video guide; there's a lot of vids out there but a full guide to doing the challenges would be really helpful (especially for the one challenge in Chapter 3 that's randomized each playthrough, that was a headache to do). More importantly though I'd just like to see how you'd build the towns; I just beat them game a couple weeks ago myself, doing all the non-speedrun challenges, and I liked the creative freedom they gave you with making a base; it was so much fun just playing designer. So yeah, I really hope you do play this entire game.

Looks interesting. Been pretty much obsessed with Sekiro, but maybe this is something a bit more lax to try afterwards. DQ11 is my first foray into the series and I am not very far into it, but this gives me more of a Zelda feel that I think I'd enjoy.

Yes! Dragon Quest Builders! What a awesome game. The PS4 and Switch have the same gameplay but they have slightly different challenges to them. I found the PS4 version's challenges easier then the Switch version but it's the Switch, you can play the game anywhere.

I think if you really love this game, you'd really like My Time at Portia! It's not quite as polished as this game or Stardew Valley, but I think future updates will fix the issues it has. Overall, it's a really nice time sink, and it's really charming. c:
