DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 2: Green Gardens, Isle of Awakening

This is my wife's and my (possibly) complete Green Gardens town on the Isle of Awakening.
We decided not to build the towns in the chapters like I did in the first game and focus all of our efforts on the Isle of Awakening.
We have been having intermittent jittering/lag while playing, and showing off some parts are a bit quick because our first attempt to record this area went over the 15 minute PS4 limit, so I apologize about these issues.
There were other things we had built for this area, but again due to the time limit, we did not show them. They were my wife's wizard tower and her maze that lead to it, but she also had a video of those elsewhere.
Also, during the video we had removed the scarecrow from the field/garden, and therefore was not a proper room, because we were trying to force the villagers to focus on making bread at the time.
Finally, sorry for any grainy quality. It was uploaded directly from the PS4, same as my other DQB videos, so I don't understand what happened.

The open roof idea was super cool, ive always wanted to have open buildings but for the most part I couldn't get them right, so I just went with full buildings. Adding a bit of the roof but keeping it mostly open was very smart, it just made it look complete.

Ugh, I absolutely regret flattening a majority of my green gardens. I just couldn't find a way to build anything I wanted to in the space it was giving me. But now that Ive seen this I have a whole new wave of ideas. Guess I'll start over on a second profile!

kalez238 I need help getting started with building my Isle of Awakening. I keep putting off starting any major builds aside from the story tasks and some basic housing/bathroom/kitchen and a couple fields. I want to have a cohesive design in mind and not just start building some simple little buildings to only end up demolishing them to make something better. Basically, I am looking for tips to get better at building, or maybe some good video tutorials to watch? I am only really any good at building in the towns on the islands for the story (so far Furrowfield and Krombul-Dun) because there is already an (somewhat) established town layout with boundaries. The completely open nature of IoA is so daunting! I want to make a big, expansive town/city for my residents, but I have no idea where to even begin!

Dave Pearson my Friend has a great channel and tutorials, kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqPIin6rqsSMY7M But Kalez and I we have both expirence in a 2d game making software called rpgmaker, a lot of our simple designs are based on how we learned to use the tiles in that programme to make small games or scenes. The first thing we do is a floor plan, as for the roofs there’s a lot of experimenting left to be done. Use your pc or graph paper and plan out your builds, choose if you want to add to the landscape ( keeping it mostly as it is) or change it. Start with 1 room at a time, And add to that. This town changed a lot in the last month and it keeps growing one small things at a time. I am currently recreating many maps from multiple Zelda’s you can check out my videos as well, although my building and thinking is much slower then others and I don’t edit my videos. Yes you could, lol. It just takes time. Layout according to the space you have, and build, one building at a time, then decorate each building with whatever it would have in it. Keep your eyes open though. I have plans to go though my rooms and explain the how and why of them.

I love that you didn't cover your buildings with a roof. One thing i don't like about this game is that i have a hard time looking around if the room you're in is small and covered 😭

Yep! Idk why this game has such issues with close up or first person camera, but I didn't come up with the idea. A large amount of people in the early community had this roofless idea, so feel free to steal :)

Nah. Just take some time to beautify it up. Think about what could possibly go in each room. If you need help, though, we are planning on going through our rooms a few at a time and explain the how and why of it for those that want to learn how to better decorate. :)

The camera has issues with close quarters, and with the FOV in this game, the first person camera makes me sick after a while. So, open roofs was something we and a lot of people did in the first game, and we carried it over to this game.

kalez238 you could try class flooring as a roof, I’m using it as a way for natural lighting to enter some buildings where I can’t fit light or want a little natural beauty to shine through (such as an aquarium with a roof)

This is incredible! How do you go about designing this on the large scale so it all flows so well?? I have so much trouble building in isle of awakening because of the open ended nature of it. With the established island towns there is existing buildings, borders to the base etc. and you have a sense of size and the scale to build on. IOA is just one huge base and it is so intimidating to just start building because whatever I do first is just so empty and seems lame! Lol

Some minor planning, but mostly it is about building one room at a time, and then making changes as you go. We've changed a lot even since this video, like for example now the park/animal houses are up on the hill and a furniture store has taken their place. (NPCs love buying toilets :P )

They are completely unrelated games, but I would probably suggest the first one first simply because the second one's additional mechanics might spoil you. The first one is great, but has a lot more limitations, and no flying, swimming, etc.

Some games push the envelope away from blockiness, but then you get terrain issues and unexpected building glitches, like what sometimes happens with NMS. I just wish Minecraft had things like angles, furniture, etc.

Sorry, I don't know if I understand your question. You can build anywhere on the entire island, even off the island out to a certain distance. People have flatted the whole place and built massive cities. We tend to build more following the natural landscape, though.
