This first chapter was about testing limits (heighth, depth, etc)--turns out there's also an upper limit on things you can place in town too. This was a year plus of my builder's life (391 days). Hope you enjoy!

MetalGodX3, thanks so much for watching! And yes, this game is fantastic and probably flying under the radar of many people, who thought it a poor man's minecraft clone. There's so much more though, from the quest structure to the variety of items that can be crafted. And I haven't even hit free build mode yet, where all the chapters' separate recipes are brought together for one singular experience. I definitely will be playing this for the foreseeable future. ;)

Thanks for taking the time to watch! The sequel has just released a few weeks ago in North America-and after watching a few Twitch streams, I think hopping back into something like this might just be super satisfying for the remainder of the summer/fall. If you’re playing either game, hope you’re enjoying it!

@@flooderdooden2179 well currently i'm playing the first one and still on the first chapter, an i like this game sooo much more than minecraft, i like game's where i can crate thing's but i think the thing i love most is the adventure and story in this game , soo seeing some of what can be done with all this is amazing, some peolple would probally consider what i'm doing bad and would spoil thing's for me, but for me it more so interesting and a mean's of gathering information and honsetly a lot of fun seeing what people make too :)

Scarlet Moon, totally with you on having some story to go along with the crafting. I also liked the diversity of things you could craft in this series versus Minecraft. And your playing the first game at this point likely means that by the time you get around to the sequel, it could be cheaper and an overall better value. So personally I think you have the best of all worlds going for you. Take care, and good luck building!

Some tips: if you put furnace in the stonemasons room it becomes a blacksmiths studio And if you put two private signs in one room you get shared room

Marcho Bomb I The Air Warlord, thanks for watching, as well as the tips! As I recall, there's a blacksmith's studio in this town, and though I gave each person their own room in Cantlin, I did opt for the shared room experience in my Rimuldar. Part of the fun in building is discovering the various combinations needed for 'new' rooms. Hope you have fun discovering them too!

Wow, just wow The word amazing comes to mind... I have but one question, what was the point total when you cleared the chapter? My city pales in comparison to this and I was just under 80k. I can only imagine how many points you earned.
@flooderdooden2179
@flooderdooden2179 7 жыл бұрын
Seandicon, actually my Cantlin was only 61,140 points, so you have me beat on that front. The castle walls are actually built outside the city boundaries, so there's no extra points to glean there. I'm not sure plants get factored points-wise in an open air environment either. Rimuldar, on the other hand, ended up being a points bonanza due to needing my torches for the exterior, which then had me using naughty night lights extensively within town boundaries. As a result, I believe the points total ended up around 120,000ish for it. Thanks again for watching, and be sure to share some of your creations too--in case you're not aware, there's a subreddit with a lot of cool people there who share their creations and questions/thoughts. It can be a great place for inspiration, as well as feedback. Take care, and happy building!

Seandicon, yeah, I do plan to upload the remainder as I complete them. I had started on Kol and had some early ideas on things I could/wanted to do, but then a ton of fall releases came out all at once. Right now I'm a little sidetracked on some of them, but the gameplay loop of DQB is something that'll definitely pull me back in. :)

Can you just load your save from the chapter and keep working, even if you're on other chapters? I'm a bit into Ch. 2 but I'd like to go back and keep working on my Cantlin at some point too.
@flooderdooden2179
@flooderdooden2179 6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Thielmann, as I understand it, yes. That's one of the nice things about each Chapter having its own separate save file. Each world is contained unto itself, so it should be as simple as loading the save from whichever Chapter you're wanting, then building to your heart's content. Thanks for watching!

ExxKun, at the point that I recorded this, my in-game day counter was at 390ish, although alot of that was materials gathering and some planning/experimenting. Best of luck with your creation(s), and once you finish, look up the Dragon Quest Builders subreddit, and share your creations there. In my brief experience with it, there's a great community there that's super positive and will give you additional ideas on things you might be able to incorporate in future creations. I've found tons of inspiration there, and it's a great hub for showcasing everything that can be done/built in the game. Thanks again for watching, and hope to see some of your creations soon!

flooderdooden thank you very much! I'm still new to the game as I've been doing planning and experimenting too ^_^ but I'm just about to finish this city! I'm planning on re-creating Hyrule Castle from The Legend Of Zelda! But thanks I will take a look at that!

How did you build an underground floor without mucking up the pathfinding of the residents?
@flooderdooden2179

PoliteTimesplitter, that's a really good question! And to be honest, I can't rightly say that I fully understand how the AI/NPCs are programmed to find their way through the boundaries of the town. I did notice in toying with staircase builds in this and Rimuldar that if a staircase generally turned on itself in too sharp a fashion, it would confuse NPCs, so I tried to make the stairs coming out of the basement straightforward and wide. However, when I built the apartment tower structure, I sort of lucked out that the NPCs would actually use it (creating private/personalized rooms for the characters probably helped here). Looking back, I can say I enjoyed the building prospects of Cantlin more than the other towns I played, just for the fact that you could actually dig in the ground more deeply before hitting the bedrock. When I moved on to Rimuldar and discovered that bedrock was only two or three blocks down from the start, it forced me to have to build up if I wanted a functioning sub-level. I'm not sure if you saw the finished product with that build, but in doing that, I had to come up with viable means for entering/exiting the town, since the main level was now much higher than the surrounding land (which forced the creation of the bridges). Seeing some of the new details for DQB2, I'm excited to see how things are changed in a way that allows builders to create even more amazing creations. Thanks for the question and watching!

iFreezer :D, more than I probably care to admit...and there was some regret (and reloading) when fighting the golem with him jumping all over the place. He wrecked me totally the first time because my cantlin shields were outside the town boundary and so they despawned entirely. After that lesson, I worked on Rimuldar differently, killing the condor before doing the majority of the work. Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoyed/are enjoying the game too!

Too true-although all things considered, the spikes did pretty well too. Most of the enemies would spawn down there and die right away. Getting their drops probably would have been easier without the water. But having water definitely would have improved the overall look. Thanks for watching!
