Thanks for another episode, I was longing for it! Yes, DQ3 has the best field music, and imagine ti hear this in …um…another DQ after you’ve played this one. In the original, that girl in Norvik ask you if you did any “harassment” to her while she was asleep, and if you say “Yes”, she calls you a “pervert”, but when you say no, she comes like “You mean I’m not attractive at all!?”😂 Yeah, the Puff-puff, which is different in every DQ, this time technically a massage. My favorite is also the one in 8 tho. Interesting fact about “leg warmers” is that they’re originally called “loose socks” an extremely popular fashion trend in the mid-90s with high school girls, so much that they added them to this game at the first remake in 1996, also that’s why Yuffie in FF7 wears them too.

56:31 - I didn't find the Puff-Puff until much later (had to cut it into an earlier episode), because I had 3/4 of my team female including my hero, and the only male I had was my Priest, who obviously never led the party. If you have a female leading the group, they won't let you in. The best part was, when they finally went upstairs, my guy started from the same place in the doorway as your hero, but he actually RAN across the room and beat the woman to the bed. He was REALLY eager for the Puff-Puff. 😀 (If ever I miss having Mage-cam on, it was for the Puff-Puff. I would have loved to see your face during this bit. 🙂;-) 😀)

So the world map resemblance to the real world was definitely intentional. As far as how long the people were asleep... remember the father of the boy who was asking for forgiveness looking like an old man? But his mother in the town still looking pretty young?

Geographically, you’ve also already been to ROME-aria in that oddly boot-shaped peninsula. I love the way they adapted the geography to an admittedly square world, collapsing the Pacific until Japan is almost the center of the world. Go figure. :-D

Well it's in the landmass that resembles Italy and they speak with an Italian accent. One of my best friends is Romanian so I don't say this with any disrespect to the country, but when you have a number of villages in a game that are based on famous countries, it doesn't make sense to make Romania one of them. You can do an easily recognisable Japan or India, as far as most people are concerned, but it'd be harder to make a recognisable Romania or, say, Kazakhstan or Hungary.

Everyone talks about Dragon Quest VIII. I really wish I could remember it. I haven’t played it since the PS2 era, so 20 years. I honestly can’t remember a single thing about it :( I know 1-6 because I have all of them on my phone, and this one on PS5 now, and 11 of course lol

Just a tip. You can use the thief’s nose for treasure in towns. It is a different count outside and inside buildings. It’ll help when you’re looting :)

I was super bugged out about the townsfolk sleeping for years too. 10 or more years of ur life gone in the blink of an eye… all on the fairy queen’s whim. Ur right, I don’t feel very bad for her despite how awful her daughter’s fate was. She brought a lot of it on herself :: / Remember folks! Collective Punishment is a war crime according to the Geneva Convention!!! As for finding monsters, the game actually counts dusk as a separate time of day for the purposes of finding monsters! So monsters can show up during the day, the dusk, or the night. So if you think a monster should show up somewhere, there are three times to check to make sure a monster is or isn’t there 👍 I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited around on the world map for free time changes to check for monsters lmao Also playing as a female main character excludes my play through from the magic of a puff puff and I will forever sob about it 😭

Mage, I hope this doesn't count as backseat gaming, but I think there's this thing that would be fun for your viewers to watch. When you get to the dungeon related to Ibis, I'd name it but not sure if you'd consider it a spoiler, you can go into a basement level where you can't cast spells. There's a hidden level below that if you click in a certain place. Down there is a unique weapon that sells for something like 6000 and iirc is really good for martial artists right now. It comes with a particular challenge, though.

I never once thought you can exhaust an enemy’s mp with Kaclang. I have never used it in any Dragon Quest game. I always told myself it was a useless spell and forgot about it. Although the only times I’d use it would be the Buffy bosses, Baramos for example, and I don’t know if his MP can be exhausted. Well, I’m at the end game, so I’ll have to try it on another run. It’s Dragon Quest… there will be s other run lol

Well there's already three graphical styles of XI. There's the modern 3D, 3DS-style 3D and SNES-style 2D versions of XI. I don't think they'll do it again in a mix of basic 3D and sprites.
