When you're king, every NPC has new dialogue for you. There's even a hidden quest, with no reward, for getting the gardener to look after the flowers again because an old lady is sad because they were planted to honour the late queen. Very soulful.

The Padfoot ability with the thief helps you sneak up on monsters that run from your footsteps and musk helps with the monsters that smell you

Finally catching up with these videos. Yes, a boss battle. It was great! The names of the enemies in this game are just incredible! Mixed with voice accents, its just so so good. New party is looking really good. The spells are building up now. Really cant wait to see the story progress more. and the monster battle, you came so close! It really reminds me of FF X-2 and the monster thing in that. Watching Part 8 right now. Keep them coming Mage

Oh, the dream team!! Yangus and the twins from Arboria in the same party! My favorite DQ character is Jessica, I'm obsessed over her, and tend to prioritize girls, because I'm a lusty, dirty-minded dude. You're still a healthy DQ fan, having Yangus as your favorite. The system of the monster arena is new to this remake, although they did have it the older versions too but it was only a gambling stuff on which you could bet some money. This DQ8 type arena system really compensates the "T'n'T" board game they've deleted (it was put in to the first remake of this, but survived in DQ5). Yes, in DQ3, it depends on your wisdom if you learn a spell at a certain level or not. I actually didn't think they were gonna keep that part.

34:00 basically DQIII provided the blueprint for DQIX to follow as well as all other JRPGs including FF. There’s a reason why the Job system of FF3 and FF5 exists because of DQIII providing the blueprint back in 1988.

Bianca from V is my favorite as well as Morrie from VIII. I used characters from stories I wrote previously, but am thinking about making Bianca a thief and Morrie a Monster Wrangler.

The garter belt gives the Vamp personality, only equippable by females (at least it was in the older games, idk about the remake) and it increases ALL stats on level gain: Strength (STR) 110% Agility (AGL) 120% Resilience (VIT) 105% Wisdom (INT) 115% Luck (LUCK) 120%

just found out you can war the crown as equipment and skip giving it in by going straight for the key instead. it has pretty good stats so I'm going to wait until i get better gear first.

the thought of you voice acting any characters has me giggling, but I think you would do pretty good hahahaha, that boss looked so funny! like some failed luchador or something. the crown on top of the green hood was funny looking too when the king asked if you wanted to rule my first though was "don't do it, it's gotta be a trap!" considering you were stuck in town till talking to the king and getting him to take it back, i wasn't too far off in my assessment. I agree, the monster arena system is a love hate relationship for me too, it's different but at the same time I actually like being able to pick exactly what i want done, instead of hoping the critters do the right thing, good fight against the queen, they probably let her fight there as a form of stress relief what with who she's married to...I just see the stress that man puts her through with his antics I agree, cursed towns are a rather common trope and somehow the only one who can fix it is the hero of the game, go figure keep having fun! see you next time!

YES!!! I'm so glad you decided to take the crown of Romaria. In the NES and Gameboy color versions, you wouldn't be told where the king was at. It's even funnier when playing as a female hero, because you'd get berated for acting unlike a royal. So essentially a soft lock, but a hilarious one

You get berated? In the Japanese version, there's an extra quest for the queen, to tell a servant or soldier to keep the garden clean, but never heard about being berated.

8:10 this are my favorite DQ characters based on their respective installments. DQI: Dragonlord, and Princess Gwaelin. DQII: the Three Scions of Erdrick ofc as well as Hargon and Malroth. DQIII: Erdrick and his companions but my favorite of them is the Female Sage(cuz i like her default design😏) as well as Baramos and Zoma. DQIV: basically Solo(Hero),Alena,Kiryl,Borya,Ragnar,Maya and Meena,Torneko, and ofc Psaro. DQV: basically the whole cast but my standouts are for me is Pankraz,Bianca and Deborah. DQVI: Carver,Milly,Ashlynn,Terry,Lizzie,Boble, and Nokturnus(super boss) DQVII: Simon(Hero),Maribel,Ruff/Gabo,Melvin,Ayla and Orgodemir. DQVIII: basically the whole cast including Marcello,Rhapthorne and Munchie. DQXI: all of them including Erdwin and Serenica.

I found that having a thief in the party was actually extremely beneficial in the early and even up to about mid game before they finally start to drop off! I have an all female party right now composed of a Warrior, Thief and Priestess, and honestly having a blast with it. The lack of black mage was FELT mid game tho, had to reclass the Priestess finally to make up for the weaknesses. I feel like what you have is a solid composition for ur own team though, you won’t have a wall/damage dealer in a warrior, but a black mage can more than make up for damage if you use her well (I LOVE that you named them Veronica and Serena tho that’s brilliant) As for favorite dq characters…. I haven’t played too many yet… haven’t got around to 8 unfortunately but so far I have to say Hendrik is my absolute favorite. I love that man he’s so dumb hahaha Serena had such a brilliant arc too. Also fond of Malroth in builders 2 and Barbella in 1. I also liked SO many npcs in 11, my favorite being Jasper on the top and other characters like Krystalinda and Mia ✨

If you put the gear in the secondary slot rather than the main slot then the personality change doesn't happen. =) But yeah vamp is pretty good, has no downsides like most personalities. Doesn't boost anything heavily though, but overall averages out better.

vamp used to be the numerically best personality but I imagine they've retooled the modifiers for the remake

Wisdom effects the level at which you learn a new spell at least it did in the original

Getting genius on one of the girls (or both depending onwhat you want to do later) would give a massive wisdom boost and a boost to speed as well Bat out of hell is pretty solid for theif as well

The game doesn't tell you this but Genius will give you terrible defense and HP level ups, though. So your character will die much more easily. The in-game descriptions of what the personalities do are really vague and often miss things out.

I'm still working on my cosplay file of IX where my party is Jade, Mia, Veronica and Serenica(cause i couldn't name her Serena for w/e reason). Just have to get through the final dungeon for that file. Hard for me to be sure about any favorite characters from the DQ series since i enjoy them all so much, still have 7&8 to finish on 3DS. I don't think i have ever used the premade characters from DQ3 or 9 as i like customization of my own making. You're going to be loving this game for sure and looking forward to how you react to the rest of the game.

You don’t need to transfer items from one person to another to equip something. If you equip from the equipment tab, they’ll automatically take it from whoever is holding it

Mage, you don't even need to do the quicksave thing. The game autosaves every time you end a fight or go between areas. You can see the autosave icon at the bottom right. You can stop playing after seeing that and next time start from there.
