Never thought I'd enjoy dragon quest but you got me hooked, just bought the game along with dq builders 2, dq 11, harvestella and ff9 from watching your LPs. Though I'll prob get my ass handed to me lol. Been watching you for a few years now your one of my top fave

A little tip. I only just discovered it. When there is only one group of monsters, you can see their name and color of their health on the very first screen of a round. When it says fight, tactics, flee. If you start fighting you can’t see them, but in that one dialogue box you can :)

A quick note about holy water: it either works or it's useless. If you're higher leveled than the area, it eliminates all encounters, but if you're not, it has no effect, same as the holy protection spell. As well, there're two treasures of note (no spoilers): a pretty good one in the village northeast of khoryv in the snowy area, and an absolute must grab in isis castle that requires no encounters to get Edit: I was actually mistaken about where the snow village is lol, you have to get out east first, but there is a pretty decent reward there

two notes on taming monsters, if they run away it will say one of two things: either they smell you or they hear you. the musk handles those with smell, padfoot is the one for sound. Also when after taming it tells you to see monty do so he has something to do for you

I've got a nephew who's 7 and he's similar. Gets annoyed by any game that makes him read. If you ask him what his favourite type of game is he'll say "games where I fight monsters with my sword and my friends" which I really love. Me too! He loved FFXVI especially when Joshua is fighting with you. I do wonder about the reading thing; I could definitely read by his age, I asked my parents, but kids do learn at different ages. I wasn't even playing games at 7, I didn't get a Mega Drive until I was about 10. I think he'd love DQ Heroes.

Idk what it is about restless knights, Im just so charmed by them. They’re my favorite unit in the arena cause they’re just rlly diverse in attack types but I feel like I’d use them even if they weren’t that good, ya know? I just like em. I get rlly happy when I see them for the first time in any dragon quest game haha I love how there’s no explanation for the man that lives in the poison pool, he’s just vibin’ and avoiding people. I respect it tbh, that’s honestly rlly fair. (Also…. You got the seed of life from Mocrates sack…. The humor of this is not lost on me.)

Always look forward to more of you playing Dragon Quest. Because you move around a lot in the over world, nose for treasure keeps track of what you can find though it's annoying you have to basically recast every time you go in and out of certain areas. My nuzlocke challenge of the game is going well, my final party is hero, sage, merchant and priest after doing some vocation changing. I get exp being divided between party members but doesn't make sense that gold is cut down. Think you equipped the silver platter on the wrong person there.

Mage, I honestly can't tell if you're doing it or not, so I thought I'd mention that you can run on the world map as well, just like you do in towns/dungeons. Sure helps on those long treks across deserts and such. (39:27 - FYI, the fastest way to get to the well in Aliahan is to use the "Land Outside" option on Zoom, then enter from the south or east so you come in much closer to the well. I almost never actually remembered to DO that, so I ended up walking out of town and circling round the outside world to re-enter. Still faster than walking across town, but not by much.)

Oh yeah i am at times walking faster on the world map, just not all the times, as it makes the encounters happen faster XD

When a monster runs away all you have to do is leave the screen by exiting or going into a close by building and they will return. You don't have to waste money resting again

Hey mage just thought I’d let you know to make it a little easier after you change your classes if you go north from where you do that there’s a place called the tower of transcendence where if you go to the top floor you can encounter metal slimes also there is a class change book for Sage when you’re crossing the rope fall down at the flag and then go right😮

This is the first part of the game that I found tough on Draconian Quest. Funny, this part of the game was actually quite easy for me on the GBC version. But even on Dragon Quest, they made this part of the game tougher in this version, imo.
