You can easily get an elven speaking pawn at the beggining, you can summon Rook, the guy that was with you on the griffin, by going to the summon history.

Elvish pawns are easy to find in the official pawn section and if you give the innkeeper flowers 2-3 days in a row she will give you a book that makes your pawn speak elvish.

Another tip, this game lets you use certain armor/clothing as disguises. So for anyone stuck on the magistrate quest that takes you to the jails, you can buy a set of armor called “Marcher’s Armor” from the potion shop. If you’re wearing that armor in the jails, the guards think you’re one of them and won’t attack. I’m not sure if there are any other uses similar to this yet but it is a cool feature.

Pro tip for beginners just starting. At the 1st rift you can hire up to lvl 10 pawns for free. Just touch the rift crystal while in the rift and click on official pawns. Then you can run around and your pawns will slay everything till you get past lvl 10.

Word of advice, your levels are tied to your job, so all the levels you've adquires go to mag-res, if you want to build yourself a bertter character then prioritize changing jobs to a better version as fast as you can and level up with them. Change jobs if you want to boost a dedicated stats, because if you end building a fighter/warrior at the end your strenght stats will be lower than that of your pawns.

There IS a soft lock-on! Your character automatically targets the nearest enemy and you can switch targets by flicking the joystick if you're using a controller. Not sure how that would work with the KB & mouse for PC though... (I know it has already been days since you posted this comment but might be helpful for newer players who read this)

there is multiple ways to get yourself across those broken bridges.. a few vocations have dash attacks, (save the game in case you miss) then jump across before you start to fall hit a dash attack and you should make it... you can also use the pawn commands "go" or "to me" to encourage your pawns to jump across, but sometimes they fail, or find another way. (you can also grab them, then throw them across) if you are a magic archer you can throw a pawn off a cliff, shoot them with a revive arrow, then once they are up, if you jump down to them they SHOULD catch you. (again i suggest saving before you jump)

@@fxfranktga8775 a lot is better. but many of the changes make it feel worse for me. only having 4 abilities instead of 8? the archer is much less smooth, for example, knocking an arrow then putting it away just to knock a new arrow whenever activating a skill, and several other things. cant throw flasks at enemy's anymore, (unrelated, but removing the other flask mechanics sucks) making curatives not restore max health anymore has them near useless, aside from when their way overpowered by healing at 0 health with blueberry. etc etc. i like the game, im over 30 hours in, but.. ya know?

There's a feature in the game where exclamation marks appear on the map and sometimes I'm able to take care of them and other times i literally can't see what this is supposed to draw my attention to. I climb the mountain, i go up the stairs, i check out the river bank, but the exclamation mark won't go away and i can't see what I'm supposed to be looking for. I understand when there are locked doors tho, but the others I'm unaware of.

Typically the exclamation marks appear wherever one of your pawns points something out, so just listen to the dialogue and it should tell you what you’re looking for.

I’ve played this game through many times now, trying different Arisen/main pawn variations. There are certain quests I’ve simply learned how to avoid because they have no good outcomes or they are just not worth the effort of doing. The Beggars tale is one. I did that once and I avoid it now. Other quests I don’t like but they are unavoidable, like “the jadeite orb” quest. When you get to the Rest town, a Beastran NPC will confront you, and you can’t avoid him or ignore him. You’re forced into this quest and there’s no good ending to it. The only good part about it is, depending on how you decide to finish this quest, you’ll get an elite camping kit from the Beastran.

Your pawns current level and layout is only updated staying at an inn. If you get your pawn to level 9 and stay in the house from now on your pawn will only be lvl9 for other players. Have to periodically save at the inn to upgrade them for everyone else.

The original(DA, not the OG original, but that was a MUCH requested feature) had the Eternal ferrystone, allowing you to fast travel at will, with the use of port crystals, that extends to five places. On New Game+, it's 10 places. DD2 doesn't have the Eternal ferrystone, nor NG+ afaik.

You know, I wouldn't mind the fast travel thing, but they gave us the Eternal Ferrystone in Dark Arisen and the devs made a big talk about it and making 'travel fun' and I saw some people talking up the 'hardcore' aspects of it, but as an avid DD fan, I knew it would suck. It turned out all this time they planned MTX for it. That, combined with the light MTX tents really rub me the wrong way, because weight has been one of my quiet grumbles with the first game. I have three Augment slots alone and Armour pants that reduce my weight and stamina mangement in the first game because I play as archer classes. It's a gigantic pain in the ass, having to use my pawns as essentially pack mules. They didn't really address those issues, but they saw it fit to remedy some issues with MTX, fucking thanks man.

I'm actually playing the first game for the first time right now (came across the info for the second game last month and someone said it might be helpful to play part 1 first for background info), so it's fresh in my mind (had a grab mission literally yesterday). They did say to "catch them" before they left town. In the mission itself, the grab key wasn't specifically mentioned, but a bit earlier in the game they did say you could grab like the big rocks + explosive barrels and mentioned the grab key then. So just a case of putting two and two together (though if you don't pay attention to the tutorial parts, I guess it would be more difficult to figure out then).

Getting really tired of the people's complaints here, and as soon as you explain to them something, they start to brand you as defending a corporate scum of a company. -The microtransaction items (paid dlc) can be easily obtained in-game JUST LIKE IN THE FIRST GAME, if you actually played thru, you'd learn that. -Optimization as of now is shit, performance is bad, but that's not uncommon for games at launch, and after a few tweaks here and there, you can gain a stable fps thru out your gameplay, even Witcher 3 run like shit back then at first, just wait for the damn patches. -I can understand the new game thing a bit, but for those complaining about wanting to restart the game, seriously? Have you actually finished the game already that you need to restart that immediately? They released the Character Creator, 2 weeks before the launch, that's still not enough time for you to finalize your character? Look, I am in no way defending microtransactions in an already pricey single player game, but the complaints for DD2 are just utterly ridiculous. There's literally no difference between buying those paid dlcs and just playing the game as it is. The developers early on already said they want you to actually explore the map since it's rich with enemy and random encounters. You can find those port crystals in game and place them in an area you want to be able to fast travel to, it's the same as the first game. People just love having something to complain about, I swear.

You associate Elves with being sophisticated and elegant and whoever was doing the talking, sure didn't sound like that. It sounded like the way some Dutch people sound trying to speak English (and I say that as a Dutch person 😂).

There's another way to the sphinx that's much easier. If you follow the lanterns through misty marshes, the foggy area northwest of harve village on the map. You'll find an abandoned village. Near the back of the village are some rocks you can climb. These lead to a short canyon you can go through to get to the sphinx.

I wonder if this game also has the level up system. For those who don't know in Dragon Dogma one your class dictated your level up stats (if you're a mage your mag would go up, if you're a warrior your strenght would go up) which is reasonable. However, if you spend your entire first 50 levels as a mage and shift to a warrior your strenght would be subpar, min maxing here is what class to level up until when to make yourself the best version. So you can level up as a warrior at the start and change to an archer to get the strenght buff and have the range option (same with mage and magic archer) Depends of the build but if it's like that then i'd recomend mapping the levels (you can reach level 200) and how you want your stats to go up, and change the adecuated jobs for the better highter ups jobs.

I've both heard and seen that it does, but to a lesser extent than the first game. Your character's stats have one level, while your vocation and equipment have their own separate stats that adds onto your base stats when they are equipped. Your base stats seems to level up fairly evenly across the board and I've heard that they eventually cap out, meaning everyone will have the same stats after a certain level. While vocation and equipment stats can/will be switched by changing what class you're playing. Assuming they're playing the same vocations, at a certain level all warriors should have the same strength stat regardless of what class they played beforehand. Same with the stats for the other vocations.

These give you limited travel. Meanwhile Capcom is running a side hustle selling them through microtransactions. The same Capcom who said they made travel "meaningful" in the spirit of the game, while in reality doing it to stimulate sales of them through microtransacitons. Microtransactions they kept 100% quiet on until the second the game launched and they suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Hey quick design change question on controller. I think we should be able to use the key pad for specific weapon skills of the three pawns. 3 buttons on the key pad can be the party members and if u press a party member (just alternating titles in the keypad ui spot) there should be where you can pick a weapon skill thats equipped in their arsenal. Hec even put a cooldown to go asking for a specific weapon skill from your pawn. And the last keypad button can pull up the commands we have already help, go, etc. Thoughts?

I finished the game at lvl 38 with a mystical spearhand. The game doesn't tell you but suggest that you sleep before going forth so i did. I'm glad i did because i had unfinished business and more to explore...and i didn't know that it was the final boss or ending. But i reload at the last inn slepted. The main campain isn't has long has i'd hope. The fact they let you reload last inn is a cool thing though.

Doesn't matter. This game is so CPU heavy it would make no difference. Capcom says they're investigating, but they knew this was an issue because they turned the fidelity up to max since it has room to as the game weighd on the CPU and not the GPU.
