Dude I was fighting a horde of goblins when a gryphon showed up. We killed the goblins then focused the gryph. My thief planeted a Powder Charge on its head and jumped off, and while I was charging that massive overhead slam with a hammer (as Warrior), the gryph leaped into the air to flee... and at the exact same moment, my hammer connected, and he reeled backwards in the air, then the thief detonated his bomb on its head, and it got knocked out and hurtled backwards through the air... right into the river, and died insatntly to the Brine. Skyrim had a lot of issues. Skyrim is overrated. It's not even the best Elder Scrolls game. Dragons were introduced as enemies too early. You will be fighting, and defeating, your first dragon after literally one dungeon if you follow the main quest. The final boss is supposed to be a world eating threat and he is basically a brick that flies around a bit. First person RPGs tend not to lend themselves well to spectacle as well as 3rd person games for whatever reason.

It's not even a father-son dynamic, because Dragon's Dogma only came out a year after Skyrim. If there was any inspiration from Skyrim, it was some last-minute tweaks, and I really have a hard time believing that. Dragon's Dogma 2? Maybe, but there's such a huge gap from Skyrim's release to Dragon's Dogma 2's release, it just seems like a very meh thing to say. The whole video strikes me as something more attention-grabbing than trying to say something of substance, because it just doesn't. You could split apart the Skyrim and Dragon's Dogma 2 parts, and get two videos that work better on their own, rather than together for some lazy and overdone comparison video.

I love the creative combat and being able to climb the giant monsters. It really puts into perspective the scale of the battle, how youre a mere man trying to fell the beast. I also think having hidden features in the game like grabbing onto a griffin and taking it back to the nest with loot or maybe in the midst of a dragon fight the floor breaks revealing an encompassesing dungeon below. Maybe a dragon lair with gold everywhere thats lootable and unique items makes you feel like your actually in a fantasy book. Also if they did that itd be funny if you could only pick up 1 gold at a time and you had to go through an animation just to take the piss alittle since all the gold would be lootable

The game is fun to play, but it is lacking a bit of depth. Hopefully they flesh it out more in the future without selling fully priced expansions. Roughly 30 hours in an I have played only 2 vocations and still haven’t completely explored the first main zone after the capital or even moved on to the desert area. There is still much more to unpack here while I toy around with some of the other game systems, but my biggest issues are the lack of variety in enemies and the ease of combat. The latter could likely be that I am OP for the area, but also once you learn how to beat a certain enemy, you can rinse and repeat the same tactic for every encounter.

Well, it's only a second game with gameplay like this. It's been a niche game since 2012, and the gap between the first one and the second one is 12 years. They need to show it to a wider audience to see how they react to it before they can start refining it and adding more stuff. And Capcom is a greedy corporate company, so most content will probably be released in dlc like Dark Arisen back in the day.
@spcbrass7 ай бұрын
@@evgenyomegin I’m not against paying for dlc, but what I don’t like is half baked dlc content for a high price point. Adding one new area and a handful different mobs and bosses and charging $50 is something I don’t want to see and too many games are doing it today with standalone dlc’s. If however they added more classes and systems, a large new area, a few extra caves, a dozen new enemy types and 5-6 meaningful bosses and could part with a more sizeable chunk of money. All we can do now is wait and see as well as check their progression on improving the product that is currently released. It looks like it needed a few more months of development for sure, but it’s still a decent game. I just want to see it worth its price point.
@dsweet58597 ай бұрын
If you want to make the combat more challenging, throw all three ponds away in to the garbage can AKA the river with whatever old god swallows anything up, and just play solo. It also depends on what class you use. All melee classes can survive solo. If you wanna play a caster, add only one pawn to your squadron and you’re good. As for archer, I think that entirely depends on how good you are and what abilities you’re using.

Bethesdas combat is incredibly outdated and imo their biggest fault in their games, back in the day (oblivion & Skyrim days) it was okay/tolerated because 99% of their competitors also had dog combat, now it seems like every company has evolved their combat and Bethesda are still stuck behind, & I honestly don’t see enough of an improvement coming for us in that regard with ES6

Even in the trailers the boss Medusa was specifically mentioned to be not on the main story. If Asmongold wants to be like the other variety streamers who rush to the story and miss out on 70% of the game, so be it.

Sadly can confirm that dragons dogma 2, while having a short postgame section that is time-gated, has no newgame+ changes or additional newgame+ content, the difficulty does not scale and there is no hard mode. Comparitively it's the equivalent of the OG DD1 release, so expect BBI style content and actual new game + world changes with the release of the leaked DLC in november. DDII doesn't really build upon DD:Dark Arisen, but it builds upon Dragons Dogma and pretends that the expansion/refined release never existed in it's design. Which is weird, but fair enough.

@GeoGyf7 ай бұрын
@@ToMo_VOX Yes Ur-Dragon, Everfall, world changing is in the post game of OG DD 1. The final boss of OG DD1 is the Gregori multifight & the true boss (of the post game) is the Seneschal. I havent played DD2 as i am trying to clear my own backlog, so i am going on your word, and if thats the case it will indeed be a huge shame. Perhaps the devs thought that the extra stuff in the world (Sphinx was revealed to be entirely optional) made up for this? In any case the stuff in DD were a bonus content, the game was perfectly playable without all the optional stuff. But there is a worrying trend in the industry to cut down content, Yakuza had also NG+ locked behind a paywall. Perhaps the AAA companies see the success of indie games who usually have low amounts content, no voice acting etc (it is a valid concern) & they believe they are owed more stuff. Worrysome!

Idk bro Dragons Dogma 2 has some crazy moments you dont see anywhere else. Funny story, I was doing the riddles with the sphinx when it was time for her to fly to the next location. I jumped on her back and she flew me there and even acknowledged she was impressed I did that. When we landed, it was the riddle where you fight the guy with that damage decreasing ring on. No big deal I threw him off the cliff but not far enough to die and I couldnt progress. So I jumped down to finish him and had to work my way around the mountain back up to where she was. I got to the top of the mountain where it was extremely foggy and rainy so naturally, my lantern goes out and I cant cut it back on. Its dark as hell! I check my map and see I need to make a right. to get back to her. To my surprise a damn chimera appears seemingly out of the blackness. We ensue into a long (I kid you not) a 15 minute fight and we both (main pawn is mage) almost die to this thing until it finally falls. I check my inventory cuz I got a ferrystone from the corpse and thats when I realized it, the damn ring the sphinx gave me is still on my finger which is why that fight dragged on so long. Im lvl 67 so I couldnt understand why Ifelt so weak. The whole ordeal took me at least 45 minutes to an hour to do. I waa even struggling to kill hobgoblins! That is a unique experience I dont think I will ever have in another game world. Ended up having an epic battle with the sphinx for playing with me like that. She summoned tornadoes, ice spikes, teleportation it was incredible

I remember reading a reddit thread of someone wanting to list stuff that was typical 2010 but isn't anymore. Open world games was said by someone with a lot of upvotes along with MOBAs on the list. It's funny how many agreed that open world is a "dead genre that wont get back" and saying it knowing AI is on a high rise. There will come a day when we get a full fledged open world game run by advanced AI, so advanced it can keep track on characters and make up interesting quests, events and random things to happen that aren't fully random and has a full story to them, which you as the player can fully decide to explore or ignore. That's the future of open world and many games I'd imagine in the distant future and in that sense a lot of future games will be open world and less linear when there's tech (AI) that can fill in those bits continuously. And if you doubt me, just check up Dungeon Master AI stuff, you'll be impressed by how good the AI is right now at able to hold a D&D style campaign and fill in the mundane.

My favorite monster in the game is definitely the gryphon, as it seems is the case for most people. One gave me easily the most exciting radiant encounter I've ever had, on day 3 of playing: I was just entering Battahl, and fighting off a pack of knackers. The gryphon flying around was obvious - they're huge - but there wasn't much to do about it until it came down to me, so I was mostly ignoring it. Of course, half way through the fight, the thing divebombed me and my pawns. Which was an acute problem due to the fact that we were on a trail down a very steep cliff. Being a mystic spearhand and foaming at the mouth for any opportunity to lunge, it was inevitable I'd end up poorly angling a dash and sending myself off the side. But! The environs in DD2 are detailed enough that I was able to catch myself on a ledge maybe 10ish meters below where the fight was happening. Relief at not dying from fall damage was quickly replaced with submitting to my fate, as I was sure there was no way up. Thankfully (?) the gryphon decided to come down and join me. Putting me back in the fight, but albiet and even MORE awkward one, with approximately NO room to maneuver, on a narrow cliff ledge. A bit of downright brilliant acrobatics and parkour later on my part, I get a height advantage and plunge down on top of it still on the narrow ledge. Juuuust as it decides to relocate. Back to nest. I'm on its back. For the next couple of minutes, I fly around with the gryphon, getting an absolutely stunning first-time introduction to the vast canyons of Battahl at max settings (mind you, because you can free-stand on the back of large enemies, you can alternate between grabbing and releasing to never run out of stamina on the back of a gryphon). Once we reach its nest, I was somewhat hoping for a climactic 1v1 with it. That would have been a legendary end to the little adventure. Alas, my pawns magically teleported to the entrance of the nest, and with better footing, we thoroughly lashed the thing from basically full health to 0 in less than half the time the sightseeing flight took. Still magnificently cinematic. Still gave it a *don't recommend* on Steam, though, for using Denuvo and having microtransactions. Hey, gotta draw a line somewhere, right? :^)
