Finally someone who speaks the truth. Personally, I only have problems with the RNG, the lack of customization for other characters, the forced Connecting to servers even while playing solo, and having no reason whatsoever to play other characters (which relates to lack of customization for them). Weird roster is VERY weird, skipping important characters like Cell's first 2 forms for... freeza's soldiers... GT being included as DLC also ticks me off, AND last but not least...... The hub world being too large for the movement speed we have IMO. Story wasn't different enough, but it was at least something relatively new.... sort of? I'll give it a pass just because its... well, not the same as it always was, but as you said, they wasted a lot of its potential. Overall, I'd have to give it a 75/100. Its TOO unbalanced, with SSJs being just boring to play as, while the other races get nothing unique, and while I don't mind certain moves being significantly better than others, this is taken to extremes where most moves are worthless, and only a few are considered worthwhile. Great graphics are nice, but the music is just bad, and the RNG on quests is unbearable: If I wanted RNG, I'd go play an actual MMO. DBZ isn't about RNG, its about fights, and... I can't say the fights are all that amazing here. Basically, if you were like me, wanting to play a DBZ game and having none on hand, you went out and bought it. If you have BT3, RB2 or B3/IF, stick to those. They're all better games overall. On one final note: Xenoverse has TONS of potential, and I certainly hope that a sequel, as it does deserve one, can use that potential: seeing as RB never got a third game, it seems like Xenoverse 2 will be the last shot at living up to that potential, so go and use that potential!

Omega2040 Yeah same here, The game is great and all, but it has a lot of problems. The only reason I'm still playing it is just to beat the story . After that I don't think I'll touch this game again Hopefully the sequel will fix all of the problems.

Personally, I enjoyed it. There are some problems, yes, the main one being the RNG makes getting new clothes, super skills, and ultimate skills a real chore. The lack of power boost transformations for non-Saiyan characters is a real drag too. But, as I said earlier, I still enjoyed it. There's a bunch of stuff I think they need to improve for the sequel (should there be one): More character customization options (why couldn't my Frieza Race Character have Frieza's Third Form head?). A better way to give us new skills, etc (maybe tie it into the score you get at the end of a mission? For example, "You got a "Z" rank! Here is everything you get from this mission!" or "You got a "B" rank! Here's half the stuff you could have gotten from this mission". Something like that). Maybe let our custom character actually talk during cutscenes (Seriously, what was the point of giving us 8 voice options for our characters, if they never actually talk other than a couple grunts and shouting out the name of an attack?).

I actually have to agree with you on this. It has become rather tedious for me, once I reached level 80 and made the best set I felt I could make....I got bored with it. The good new is this, it's only uphill from here. The game did have problems, but Dimps I think is a smart enough to studio to see these for the inevitable sequel. There is without a doubt going to be a sequel, as the sales have pretty much guaranteed that.

@@Dedition So I did get xenoverse 2 day 1 with all the dlc it had at the time, it was a really good game imo and a notable improvement. Biggest thing I have noticed, balancing is better, there are more fighting game elements, actual combos, mechanics to master and things like that. It's actually possible to fight against higher level players and win if you are more skilled than them. Customization was improved, the hub world is improved. The use of QQ Bangs was something I liked and really did complete a build. I will say that some problems did linger from the first, namely that late game stuff is somewhat tedious but they were pretty consistent with the DLC and other stuff that periodically happened that it was alleviated a little. Like the Frieza invasion stuff, that was cool, ToP stuff being added, Kefla, Jiren, etc. They had a lot to draw from. Adding more to the story mode with Fuu, it was actually one of the most hype final bosses if you can get the hidden ending boss fight.

and the worst part of going SSJ or SSJ2 that it does NOTHING TO YOUR HAIR. You can literally pick any hair style and it will not spike up at all....it just goes gold but no spikes! it suuuuuuuuuuucks. Even if you have long hair like 17 it just goes blonde but stays down.

this game looks awesome. I have played more than a few MMOs and currently play a mmo (ffxiv). final fantasy 14's RNG sounds a lot like this.. actually a lot of MMOs RNG sounds a lot like this. this type of RNG is far from unusual in the MMO community, I do understand why players and true fans of action games like dbz would be a little unsatisfied with these type of RNG mechanics though. some players would want be handed something fairly quick, rather than putting a little extra time and effort into obtaining the drop. thanks for the review omega, I found it helpful. this is the first video I've watched of yours but I plan on checking out your channel some more in a bit. happy holidays

I was hoping it would have mechanics like Sonic sway or homing dash but we get like 3 combos that aren't much to do with which leads to very easy infinite combos. Not to mention certain things in the game feel stiff. Like the ki charging is always the same pose for every character or no ki charging at all sense you have to equip it. Not to mention the facial expressions when ki charging just look normal .-. The raging blast series is very distinct with the facial expressions. This goes for CaC as well very little to work with after you've played the game for so long.you can't customize your fighting style either which is a shame because I hate the male saiyans combos. The game has potential, though It might take a while to improve the second sense many fans (like me) went crazy detailed in the survey. SO most likely we'll get a way improved xenoverse 2. -I personally hope there's a Christmas Update where we have more options for Cac like more hairstyles or SSj4 type of eyes with the red outlines-

+Yvette Austin There are 5-6 structured combos, but 2-3 is a good estimate for how many _useful_ combos there are. Since you can guard-cancel out of certain chains to extend your combo, there's no real point to wasting stamina or letting you combo drop on the other chains.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. For me, what really kills it is the general randomness of the game, specially if you're going for the dragon balls. And the wishes you can get after getting them all are pretty lame too. The only thing worth of grinding for dragon balls are the unlockable characters really, the rest is just plain unnecessary. Said grinding is justified if your goal is reuniting the dragon balls, but everything else is pretty much pointless. You don't need all those equipments and attacks. Just find a good trainer like Cell (the best one in my opinion), complete his training, unlock his attacks and Z-Soul and that's it, you're ready to dominate the entire game. His ultimate move is ridiculously strong and even more when you get the Z-Assist. His Z-Soul is my favourite too, since you don't take any kind of damage while you're charging the Perfect Kamehameha. So I guess you can say that everything you get from Cell is overpowered, pretty much. Another thing that's overpowered is the Super Saiyan transformation. Allows the Ultimate Move spamming and unfortunatetly I had to do it in multiple ocasions because some of the Hidden Conditions on the Parallel Quests are almost impossible without a quick way of beating your opponents, and the Ultimate's spam was the most viable way of getting the Ultimate Finish. Overall, I think Xenoverse is a decent entry in the series of videogames. It may not be the best Dragon Ball game ever, but in my opinion, is the best one since the Playstation 2 era. The previous generation of consoles was extremely undelivered, and I haven't enjoyed a Dragon Ball game this much since the Tenkaichi series. Just for that, is worth a try. And speaking of Tenkaichi, remember the contrast of quality in the Tenkaichi series? The first one felt weird and without many stuff to do, and just take a look at how that series ended. Tenkaichi 3 was gorgeous and the best DB game ever in my opinion. So, let's all give a chance to Dimps to redeem themselves next time. Let's take Xenoverse as an experiment and hope for bigger and better things in the future. If they listen to fans and fix the major problems, I personally believe that we may be in the presence of a start of a great series of videogames.

This game is fairly good my only complaints is that getting clothing is a hassle because it won't show you the picture of the clothes you bought until after you buy it also during some missions the game doesn't do a very good job at explaining certain things you should do in order to trigger a cutscene to move on, I remember going to the buu saga where he has two clones because of the timeline error and so I thought I had to beat all three but nope they're too hard so my only option was to get away from them as much as possible until the timer ran out also the one that introduces berus getting mad because he dropped his pudding

I also wanted to mention that it's weird you can't unlock the original antagonists in this game, sure Towa and Mira are DLC and I'm assuming Demigra, or other Demigra will be in the third DLC but why aren't these people in the game automatically? It just seems like a weird oversight. I could forgive Towa but Mira and both Demigras seem complete so why aren't they playable? Another big issue I have is that it doesn't tell you when you unlock things like characters or stages. It's weird because they just pop up I like the notifications saying "you got second form videl!" And As silly as it sounds. I love that they put in Videl's dress from Brolys second coming. I've always wanted that outfit for her, and subsequently Trunks outfit, and the fact this was in just made me so happy but like you did say playing as other non created characters seems pointless and their lack of customization means to get any good use out of them you have to use the stronger characters and not weaker ones which sucks because I like the weaker ones.

After playing this game for a year, I can say i'm glad I got this game. I still play it and I'm having fun, but the only downsides I see with this game are the PVP modes, the cheap A.I in some missions, and the overreliance on Super Armor. I know some people are giving this game flack for that and they're right to do so. PVP mode should be avoided overall especially on the PC version since most players hack and can instantly regain their health even when you have the upper hand. Also 3-minute time limit. As for A.I. try completing Parallel Quest 47 on your own when all the characters excluding, the non-saiyans and Kid Trunks spam their ultimates over and over again. Thank god for the option to take on these quests with friends. Super Armor with some characters make sense like Beerus, Whis, and Broly, but some don't even need it. It's an 8/10 for me: an experiment that took a lot fo risks and paid off for the most part. I just hope the developers take a good long look into what the community wants and doesn't want to be included for Xenoverse 2 when it comes out in November.

OMG NO RNG!!!!! The grind was TOO real!! I definitely agree with the points stated in the video. If it wasn't this video I would have been searching for days trying to find Yamcha so I can learn Wolf Fang Fist. I didn't know that was RNG too. I can understand in like the mission where you get Super Vegeta and there was a chance Vegeta could go that form because IT DIDN'T HAPPEN THEN. Why was there ONLY A CHANCE that Goku turns SSJ when you kill Krillin before him? The Character models look great, the SSJ hair (particularly Goku's) is what makes the whole thing look shitty. It's not proportionate at all. Its been years since I've played Budokai 3, I remember it being my all time fav, but I feel like this game is the best in the series. None of the DBZ games could ever have been seen as legit fighting games, so I've always gauged the game on how much "DBZness" I felt during the fights if I tried to play it like I feel DBZ battles actually pan out. Nothing like catching their stamina low, hitting them with an extended combo that involves some speed teleports, knocking them away, then hitting them with a Ultimate Attack. The Custom Character is one of the greatest things they've added in this game and I would be greatly excited to see them expand on this next time around. Transformations for all races. They all have had them except Namekians. (Come on, Super Nameks don't count they're essentially fusions.) Also I think it would be nice if we could choose the character models of the transformed states. Simply turning my character's hair and aura yellow is kinda lame when it comes to SSJ. The stat choices should reflect the show a little better too. (i.e Super Vegeta 1&2 should be physically and ki superior to SSJ but slower and SSJ2 better all the way around maybe making the blast supers do same damage as Super Vegeta 2) Maybe even making transformations a lvl requirement followed by fulfilling special conditions in battle (like losing an ally or getting down to low health and surviving for a certain time allotment.) would be better. Its not like they dont have the skill slots for it. Last I checked they didn't have anything set on down on the d-pad.) The game is definitely not perfect but I do love the idea and feeling of getting my custom character in there and mixing it up with the best of the DBZ universe. If they found a way to mix in an open world adventure (let's say huge world where they rng the location of dragonballs) and fix the overall issues of combat, it would be perfect.

Many people have already gotten tired of Xenoverse (like OmegaPro) and they have to force themselves to play it. Just because the game got pretty graphics and CAS (Create a character) doesn't mean it should get a pass in your book. Unless the only thing that matters for you is the character customization, then I'd guess it's all fine and dandy for you. Me myself go with gameplay over anything else, everyday.

I agree with you on the story, customization, and RNG crap, more or less. You kinda ignored some details though. You say that only Saiyans get transformations, but that isn't true; they just have the most. Every race has access to Kaio-ken transformation skills and its x3/x20 variants, which also drain Stamina instead of Ki, and take up Super Slots instead of Ultimate slots. Kaio-ken boosts pretty much all of your attack stats, along with your speed; and x20 lets you use infinite vanishes. There's also 4 variants of the Super Saiyan forms available for custom characters as well: Super Saiyan 1 and 2, which boost Strike attacks, and Super Vegeta 1 and 2, which boost Ki attacks. You wonder why there's no defense stat for skill points, well... that's because Stamina is used for blocking, not just dodging and Kaio-ken. When your stamina bar is empty, you enter a "guard break" mode where you can't vanish nor block anymore until the bar replenishes; so defense relies on how much Stamina you have. As for replay value, well, there's online matches, quests, and other modes, such as the tournaments, along with DLC packs, but yeah, it kinda falls short of the mark. I'm guessing the reason why there's not much destructive effects, and most of which, are temporary, are because they may cause slow down in the game for multiplayer modes. I think it's a good game overall, but as an experimental project, I also think it's a good effort, and a great (but flawed) start. Since the basic ground work has been laid out for us, I think they can make much more improvements in the sequel.

gamelordabd I do not count Kaioken as a transformation. If it was exclusive to Humans and classified as a transformation by the game then I probably would, but it isnt. The fact Saiyans can use it as well is enough to have it not count for me. Also having different types of SSj, maining Goku and Vegeta's, isn't adding more. It's just different stat boosts of the same thing with a different transformation animation.

Kaio-ken IS classified as a transformation skill, regardless of how you feel about it. Every race has access to it. It just takes up a Super Slot instead of an Ultimate. The Super Saiyan forms are all different Transformation skills that give different stat boosts. They are treated as separate skills, therefore there are 7 transformations total, 4 of which, are exclusive to Saiyans. Again, regardless of how YOU feel about it, doesn't change the fact that the game treats them as such. Transformations are all merely just stat boosts in this game. Which is also how they more or less function in the show.

Good review omega I have to agree with you on some parts like how the RNG works pretty bad but I think you forgot that this game is on all consoles but you might think it not a excuse but since it has to be on all consoles it pretty much hinder the game like the how super moves work and such the ps3 cant really handle the destruction of DBXV (same goes for the xbox) since DBXV is obviously should have been next gen exclusive for it to work on it true potential. Not many games come out on every consoles and it if does it has alot of limitations to make it work so I think you forget about that part and I must say im not tryingn to start an argument with anyone it just for understand that there going to be alot of limitations on this 1st game since once again it on all consoles that why there is server problems that why when u do super towards the ground it repair it. If the this game was exclusive to ps4 and xbox one then his game wouldve been different on so many ways. BrohanTheLostHero's Channel Its not so much that I forgot about it being on other systems as much as I only have it for the one. Also in terms of the destruction it looked too neat. The craters are too perfectly circle and such. Some additional jaggedness or something to the sides, or possibly a few different visuals for it that will randomly be chosen would have helped which is probably doable on older systems. Those arent really a big deal though, it was one of those minor things that was holding the game back.

Considering they're still releasing DLC and everything, I'm not totally willing to give up hope that this game will just become the Tenkaichi 2 of the Gen 4 series. Ideally, they'll take stuff like this and use it to make the game better over time through updates, as well as adding new characters and skills as more movies and things come out.

Bob Logical Doing it through DLC would annoy me due to forcing people to pay to get fixes to the game. Though this is the first DBZ game I can think of that had patches that tried to fix some things. The last one even raised the level cap, but I think some of the problems are too core to the system to patch.

Omega2040 Not exactly fixes as DLC, but new content from movies, special, etc. Fixes would just be patches released over time to make small adjustments to the game until they subtly eliminate some of the more major problems. At the very least, I'd hope they'd do some kind of bonus for people who are essentially playing the beta for Xenoverse 2. Give us a discount on the new game, let us move over characters as they are - something.

Yea I know your feelings toward cha la but I have to say this game has more issues than benefits. I don't think blindly saying its great is the best thing to do and as for the costumes I think TFS said it best, if you treat it like an mmo ie getting the best outfits for the best stats and level up to beat harder levels instead of just getting better as a fighter, then it's good. I do think however that this is a good start and in Xenoverse 2 I think they will fix all these issues and it will be near perfect, then if there's a third that will be the greatest of all, these DBZ titles seem to get it right in the third installment. Yes I agree the story was lacking, it sucks to help the z fighters so much and they forget about you I mean it's nice Goku comes at the end and actually helps you as he is in current time and the special ending too but lets face it, they kind of just made it feel like they had to do that go mix up the formula. I think everyone should have some special transformation, Frieza race turning into a second or even jumping to the fourth form, Buus of male and female turning into kid versions of themselves, humans unlocking a certain potential and getting a glimmering aura like ultimate Gohan, nameks getting larger(maybe like broly big), and of course super Saiyans up to at least 3. Not to mention having super saiyan hair actually change instead of just turning yellow. Even more so I think the transformations should have taken place in the story. Something about buying them or winning them just seems to take the excitement of hitting that unknown upgrade when the story calls for it. Also make it make some sense, I get why we are fighting the overpowered bad guys but when things are supposed to go as normal then why are we fighting? Does God Goku really need our help when fighting Beerus now? Lets be honest. It doesn't make sense for your character to be helping out ssj3's, ultimate gohans, fusions, and gods at a certain point especially if your at either a base or only as strong as a ssj2. However like I said, one thing this game has is potential and room to grow. As far as a first of a series also, it didnt do as bad as the first budokais, tenkaichis, or raging blasts.

This game is better off without the RNG because this irritates me when it comes to doing parallel quests getting, Dragon Balls/Skills/Equipments, and finding time patrollers. This can get irritating because at times I have found time patrollers in training and I have beaten them and gotten a dragon ball, just to have it get taken away from me because I failed the mission!

I bought this game thinking this game was going to have a lot of characters like in bt3 and a lot of cool things but it didnt. I would rather get DBZ Raging Blast 2. Anyone who didn't think this game would be a grindfest before coming into it was absolutely delusional. I think the game was alright though. I don't mind the smaller roster, I actually hate bigger rosters, I think the gameplay is okay and despite not being "deep" or whatever emphasis the fact you can play it how you want with your own character and the only RNG thing annoyed me was the Ultimate Finishes. I also think a lot of your complaints seem to stem from this being the first time they've tried something like this. Like, yeah its great to point out all these issues like Super Saiyan being the only transformation and that but expecting the first game in what's likely going to be a series after it's success, especially after we've seen the massive improvement DBZ games usually go under in a series to be perfect right away is sort of unrealistic. I'm not saying expecting a game to be good is unrealistic, just expecting for example Budokai to be on the same level as Budokai 3 is, that's how this video feels really. It may not be a great or perfect game but it's definitely a step in the right direction. EDIT: I do want to say I agree with a lot of your points though. Especially the transformations, seeing as DBO already had Pure Majin/Super Namek and it's not like the Frieza race has ever transformed before. It's a good review and I don't think you're being too hard on it or anything, I just disagree with the way you're looking at same of it.

CardCaptorTsukasa If you dont point out the problems in a game they wont be fixed for the sequel. Pointing them out is the best thing to do. Even more so if there is going to be a follow up game. Not mentioning it means it might go unnoticed so it will appear in the sequel as well just making it worse. If I were making a sequel to a game I would want to know what people found bad about it to make the next one better. That is why sequel can be better, feedback from all the fans.

great review but I thought the game was awesome. It has room for improvement sure, but I haven't played a dbz game since Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi for the ps2. I skipped a whole console generation of dbz games. This game is way better than anything on the ps2. I know I have low standards but things have really come a long way. Back in 2001 I drove 2 hours to this mall so that I could spend 80$ on a mod plug and a japanese version of db gt final bout for ps1. The game was total garbage but we were happy to have any kind of dbz game back then. I can't believe how far things have come.

I've been playing since launch and im just now kinda getting tired of it. Within that time frame, however, I was insanely addicted to this game. Despite its problems, I couldn't put the game down. The game made me rage harder than any game has ever made me rage, but that just made me want to play more because I refused to lose. I couldn't accept that a dbz game was getting the better of me so I kept playing so I could beat everything. So at the end of the day, the game has a lot to improve on but goddamn it is addicting enough to make me overlook the issues and keep playing.

DJKrispyK That reminds me of something I just plain forgot to add in. The difficulty in this game was built around it being cheap. Saving Bardock in story was hard, not because the enemies were strong or you were using a bad strategy, but because Bardock was as strong as a wet paper bag and would die easily. Later PQ missions were hard because of infinite SSj AIs just spamming ultimates all day long at you. I can take playing hard games, but if they are hard due to the game more or less cheating it annoys me.

Omega2040 Lol I was joking my friend and I were playing one of the later PQ's and trying to get an ultimate finish and I kept getting my ass kicked. In a fit of rage, I joked "who the fuck even cares. Even if I beat these guys, I bet goku will get the fuck up and go SSJ3." A few tries later and thats exactly what happened. And speaking of Bardock, that same friend couldn't beat it and while he was over I had him try it with my character (I had already beaten it) and he failed so I tried and I got SO close, but then Frieza just decided to stop taking damage from my ultimates and killed Bardock. I sat there for a minute before screaming, standing up, and flipping my chair. Good timez

One thing i disliked about your review is how you barely mentioned online mode, its kind of another con about the game, z souls and items online are quite infuriating, beating someone up 5 time but they still win because they used items to get theeir health up last second. Overall online somewhat ruins the experience, especially rankec matches.

Ok I swear to god this is weird. I play this game all the time... what the hell? I'm like the only one in the world who has no trouble with the dragon balls... even before they loosened it up... I honestly love this game and it's weird... I admit the RNG can make it tedious... but I don't hate it... the story I admit could use work, but I still have only had minor trouble with RNG, and they do say in the game use whatever move they teach you to speed up the friendship meter. And I keep playing the story missions with new characters all the time... I WISH I COULD MAKE MORE CHARACTERS! Filled them all up...

After being very excited for it i can't help but feel majorly disappointed in the game. While there are some good stuff like the amazing graphics, solid customization and many moves you can learn it's all bogged down by a combat that is limited and repetitive as hell, a broken grind system that can make acquiring stuff take way to damn long and in some cases impossible, an extremely tedious and boring master system that takes too damn long to finish and one that's so bad that it made me wish back for the Ultimate Tenkaichi master system one despite how repetitive that was, a story mode that despite promising being "different" ended up being pretty much the same with only fixing the timeline being a difference and a very small one at that along with your character having no lines, no personality, no sense of agency and no great interactions with other characters that makes the TP character an integral part of the story and making you feel like part of the Dragon Ball world instead of being a generic human shoved into the spotlight and finally the game's difficulty reaching a boiling point when it comes to the Parallel Quests after Frieza Saga. At least Xenoverse 2 proved to be a much better game with a better and improved combat system alongside the master system being fixed as well even if the game suffered in some places by still having a badly designed grinding system along with a story mode that once again uses the same plot with minor changes, has the same nonexistent character interactions between your TP character and others in Dragon Ball and finally your character still having all of the personality of a brick and feeling more forced in to the story rather than being genuinely part of it.

From where do you got the Final Shine Attack? Dragonball wish or from a master?

Cruze it's from the GT pack, one of the parallel quests. You also need GT pack for super spirit bomb. [the one buu saga goku has in the main game, they used the same spirit bomb for both buu-saga and kid-goku] Final Shine is nice, especially with super saiyan mode. Since it of course uses 3 bars, but you can hold down the button to use more ki for a stronger FSA. Super Saiyan infinite ki + Final Shine = multiple FULL power FSA. Making it one of the most OP ults in the game on a saiyan.
