Imperfect Cell in general is just fucking terrifying. I remember watching the anime as a kid and coming to this part and the scene of him drinking that guy will forever live in my brain. It straight up gave me nightmares for a couple weeks. Discovering that his exorcised negativity created King Piccolo must've been a depressing reminder of the things he used to feel. Even though Piccolo Jr. is not his father, and he redeemed himself through his bond with Gohan, he's still bitter reminder of Kami's severe emotional state before the Kami/Piccolo split. Kami did try to kill Piccolo Jr. at the end of the first Dragon Ball at an angry whim, after all. Still, I'm glad that in the parody, Kami seems pretty content to be in Piccolo Jr.'s mind with Nail as a room buddy.

So actually Piccolo doesn't really haha. The only reason that joke is really there is because Goku doesn't spend much screen time per episode with his family. But honestly outside of his first time dying, and leaving for a year to train (which that one is a bit selfish), 85% of Gohans life, Goku has been there for him. Yep. It didn't need to be funny as everyone constantly complained about. It just needed to be abridged yet captured what Kami was feeling about the fusion and his fate. That's what an Abridged series is about. It's main priority is to shorten things while retaining the heart and not loading a bunch of jokes in every scene.

Yeah I totally agree. I love this series so much because it takes something I loved as a kid and makes it relevant again now that I am an adult. I mean the jokes are hilarious and spot on. The characters have more depth than they used to and they express a larger diversity of emotion. I mean you go from political jokes, to popculture references, exploring characters from different angles, and then a creepy ass ending to the episode with cell. There is so much more range than the binary tone that the original series had. Not to mention that DBZ is a great show to do an abridged version of because there is so much extra fat to the series that it really needed some trimming, at the same time that fit lends itself to more footage that they can potentially repurpose. Most of all, with all of this change they don't seem to lose the actual story that is being told. It is just one long list of pros when it comes to this show. I can't think of a single con.
