Adob-eeee, Adob-iiiii. omg, never heard someone say Adobe like this. This is a nice tutorial, but more tutorial for filmmaking basics not Dragonframe per se. Anyway, thank you. I'm mostly looking for the conform function, the final output isn't intuitive in Dragonframe. It's not clear that you can't just output high resolution video from the program directly because it's only using the preview resolution for everything. I wish there were tutorials that discussed this directly and in detail.

Try animating at 24fps, you will get smoother results, even though your creeper films are quite smooth.

Great tutorial! Which DSLR would you suggest more, a Canon or a Nikon? I personally suggest Nikon since they have better features and specs for the compatible Canon units.

Personally I've only ever used a Canon, although due to the light flicker that happens with some Canon lenses (which I've eliminated since getting new lights), I've heard a Canon camera with a Nikon lens is a solid option for animation.

Honestly, people say the same thing about Nikon equipment. When I've never experienced any type of light flickering with the lenses or camera. It is not really the equipment that causes the flickering, but the set itself and the direction, angles, and position of the lighting.

+Energetic Fox Studios Actually, it is often the equipment. Nikon kit lenses have an issue with the camera setting the aperture exactly the same on every picture, making a flickering effect. I haven't heard of this issue quite as much on Canon, but I'm sure it exists, just not as much. However, any fully manual lens will resolve this issue, just don't use the kit lens for animation. Personally (And I know you didn't ask my opinion, but here it is anyway :P), I prefer Canon cameras better. I have used a Nikon and a Canon, and the Nikon (at least the D3100) doesn't support Live View, and has an extremely limited range of software for it (due to the Nikon SDK only recently being released). Also, the flange distance on the Nikon is a lot longer, limiting your selection of lenses. For example, I use a Helios 58mm lens, but it only focuses up to about 2 meters on the Nikon, but on the Canon it can focus to infinity, due to the way the camera is built.

+rioforce I have been experiencing this flicker on my Nikon lens for some time (it came with the body kit). I even did a project for one of my production classes and the prof was not able to explain what I did wrong, simply that it was the equipment being faulty. Thank you both for solving this mystery for me.

I use windows movie maker, its not too good, only one issue, always says that it doesnt have enough memory to save at any resolution, some crappy bug, my computer has alot of memory. Microsoft needs to fix their broken crap

Hey ForlornCreature! I've been a big fan of your Films for a very long time and I just wanted to ask you something that I may have done wrong.... I was messing around with the Camera Settings before making a 5000 Frame Short Film and I accidentily lowered the Brightness and stuff WAY too low... and now my whole film is so dark because I JUST realized of what I've done... AFTER making the whole movie.... The Question: Is there a way to change the Camera Settings of my whole Film all at once? Thanks so much :)

So at 3:54 3:55 you put something in front of the camera. Every time I do that the shot starts to brighten on its own. I don’t know what’s going on or why it dies that but it is really annoying because I can’t tell what my shot actually looks like. Can you help me?

that means your camera probably has some auto settings turned on. You need to dig in your menus and look for any "auto exposeure" adjustment settings or like "+ and -" it does for exposure. lenses should be set to manual and exposure and shutter settings all manual; depends on your camera model. basically go through your camera menus and turn off anything that looks like auto at all until you find what it is.

Forlorn, i can't delete frames. when i delete them they dissapear but when i export the movie the frames will be in the exported footage. how do i fix this and also when i put the clip in my editing software the clip multiples it self so it gives me 3 of the same clip at once.

Make sure you’re clicking on file>conform take when you’ve finished animating a shot to confirm all the deleted pictures and edits you’ve made within dragonframe

Is there a way to have an extended audio clip imported? When I insert a audio file it just has the first few seconds then cuts off.

That's strange - it shouldn't do that. You should be able to drag the clip to the right and extend it back out

I can't even drag a audio clip in, I have to click the import button under the audio tab and it usually just goes until frame 50 or 3.2 seconds, regardless how much longer the audio clip is. What exactly do you mean be able to extend it back out?

Oh my goodness I got it figured out... I needed to zoom out to be able to grab and drag to extend... The 3.2 seconds was just default length or something. Haha now I figure this out after I completed my project, yikes! Sorry to bother you! Now if only you could help with my issues in FCPX ;)

I think your camera is on auto modus, put it on manual. Bcauz its on auto, it changes the light automaticly. Or you're using natural lightning
