Dragons' Den

4 жыл бұрын

Phillip Daneshyar, founder of 'Thirsti' enters the Den offering a 10% equity stake for £65,000. His invention is a tracking device that reminds people how much they have had to drink throughout the day, after a short demonstration from the entrepreneur - Jenny Campbell takes it into her own hands to reveal the practicality of the device (in her day-to-day life).
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

That percentage is rising quickly. This year, 90% of Dutch people aged 55 or older own a smartphone. That is 11% more than only 2 years earlier. In the USA 53% of people over the age of 65 own a smartphone. There are also a lot of elderly people who own a tablet. Of course there will always remain a group of elderly incapable of using devices like a smartphone or a tablet. However, the app does not have to be installed on the device of the elderly people, but can of course also be installed on the smartphone or tablet of the caregivers, so that they can monitor the water consumption.

@@Sam-qh1sh not really, it can't track your water if you decide to get a cup of water at a meeting or something and at that point its not tracking how much you drank that day- the people that would really care about the product would want an actuate reading. I do think it would work best in a bottle but not all young people drink "only" from a water bottle or want to. It’s not a cell phone you have to keep track of throughout the day. And if you DO switch it out into a glass or something, then guess what? Plop! In the glass! Oh my god, it’s so simple a caveman could do it. If you forget to remove the giant, rattling puck from your water bottle when switching to a glass then bby that sounds like a “you” problem.

The one thing i really think they were missing here is how this could really help people with memory loss or dementia type illnesses. I know my mam is only at the start of dementia yet i have to make sure she has a drink by her or she'll forget to drink then suffer horrible headaches (my dad don't have dementia but is 73 and he's worse than my mother for drinking) they only reason they are hydrated most of the time is because i'm hear to care for them and make sure they drink at least twice between each meal otherwise it would only be three/four times a day !!, so if someone is living on there own this could be a really great thing. I would also say that this could be really helpful for young people when they are studying because all to often i saw my nieces/nephews suffer headaches and breakouts and everyone thought it was stress but when i ask how much they were drinking it was hardly anything less that a 500ml bottle in a four/five hour period of studying.

It should be redesigned to be able to be put in a regular waterbottle/soft drink and have it attached to the top/cap. Maybe add a drinking top to the cap. Then you have two products at the same time, the "pod" doesn't sit in liquid all day and it'll be easier to change from bottle to bottle instead of "fishing it out" as they so kindly put it. Sure, in that case you can't use it for glasses or some kind of bottles that can't have it attached, but if you're not dedicated enough to be able to drink out of a certain container type, you probably aren't dedicated enough to care about how much you drink...
