Straight up equity investment "silent partner" "Angel investor" putting up money with no input would be appropriate to go on actual market value on a company. However when you are investing and also providing resources time and effort, a dragon actually provides a lot of worth and value so that naturally gets priced in to the deal. You could own 100% of a small pond worth £2000 current value, but own 80% of an ocean valued at £1,000,000 what would you rather have? This is what a lot of entrepreneurs forget when they walk away from a deal. Sometimes they are right to, but sometimes I think some may think in hindsight wish they took the deal.

It's not just "his heart", Every dragon wanted to be the investor, and in cases like these it's not unlikely that dragons are opposed to share (Peter being the oldest is the one with the most examples), so Deborah went with the best deal for a free-for-all, even if it was at a loss for her (since she COULD have matched Tej's instead of dropping lower). However, when Peter said he was willing to share 10/10 with her for half the money, she accepted because it's a better investment. Their matchup I feel was better than Tej and Touker, but even the double dragon for 20% wasn't as good as the original offer he came into the den for.

According to Wikipedia, Jenny actually makes a slightly above-average number of investments -- an average of 0.41 investments per episode, when the average is 0.38. Duncan Bannatyne only made 0.33 investments per episode and nobody complains about him. But I think that what skews perception of Jenny is that, in her first series, she made 9 investments but in her second series, she only made three investments across 15 episodes. I'd be interested to see stats on how many offers Jenny makes. I also have the perception that she makes very few offers, so I suspect that she has a very high proportion of her offers accepted. Conversely, Peter and Deborah seem to make an offer on almost every competent business, but their investments per episode are 0.45 and 0.48, which is higher than Jenny's, but not by a huge margin.
@MarceloVeronezzi5 ай бұрын

The manufacturing costs being brought down would be easy: get the plastics from Indonesia or Brazil (both of which have massive issues with waste and pollution) The thing is, places like The Netherlands, Germany and some other European countries have massssivse pushes on this. He knew what he was doing when he "mistakenly" said 25% at the beginning. It was a test of the dragons to see which one was more interested in the money Vs the ethics. The 15% he offered is clearly a good deal anyway so for a dragon to take more means they 're motivated by greed. I think Debra saw this and showed her ethics by respecting his offer
@notxirc83593 жыл бұрын
Or he picked deborah because deborah offered exactly what he wanted?🤷
@xJMxDare3 жыл бұрын
or maybe it was a play on his subconscious, he was prepared to accept 25% if offered but let it slip at the start and peter capitalized.

@capraininsano10603 жыл бұрын
Deborah offered 15% cause she can't match what the other dragons have to offer 🤣 other dragons have all the expertise hence them asking for more peter would of had this business booming and is worth the extra 10% you pay for what he brings to the table
@iwatchwithnoads74802 жыл бұрын
@@notxirc8359 tbh Peter offered way more than what he could hope for. Free warehousing and distribution in a new country? Promise of brand advertising in another dragon's businesses? Those were definitely worth the 5% extra.
@wy45533 жыл бұрын
I think he could've absolutely negotiated with Peter + Deborah for a lower percentage, like 17% and they still would've agreed to it. I've never seen a dragon be SO happy when their offer gets accepted.

It is because Peter is the wrong partner. He really only sees the recyclable as branding play but its actually a recycling play that happens to make money. I agree. He made a big mistake. Peter would have got him far greater distribution and market presence than Deborah could as she freely admitted.
