There's no way that after the new paint has sat on the dried paint in the tray, it won't start to peel. For DIY it may sell, but tradesmen won't those items

Completely disagree... there are a couple of materials that the paint will not flake off of. It all depends on the surface of the material. Plastic doesn't give the paint a surface to adhear to properly, where the sugar cane surface does.
