i have been in the pits in topeka kansas and stood near a top fuel funnycar warming up....i also had a decibel meter with me...at 15 feet away i was getting 117 decibels at idle...when they whack the throttle it jumps up A LOT...if they did a full throttle bump it may possibly make you deaf

That’s insane, 117db at idle LOL! I remember walking to the parking lot from the race and they were doing this same thing, I wasn’t even that close and it was still loud and you could feel your eyes hurting

I though the 90 decibels in the 1990 from the airplanes as I live near the airport were loud when I was kid. This even louder. airplanes are lot quitter now at 60 decibels.
