"just synchro it" That's kinda the point of Needlefiber's special summon effect, but of course without any restrictions people instead commonly abuses it to get a Link material #forfree . Would not have happened if "Cannot be used for Link Materials" clause was there. Same with Isolde.

Overall a damn good link monster. Special summons a monster from the hand, and searches one of the best field spells in the game. The restrictions are hardly worth noticing since they're easily worked around, like dp just demonstrated.

The "its effects are negated, also it cannot be used as a link material" part of the effect of the dragunity link would had been appreciated in the "summon of a tuner from deck" part of needlefiber maybe even only letting you Special Summon Synchro Monsters from the extra deck while Needlefiber is on the field.

Adding drawbacks which make it so a card is used as intended without making it unplayable. This needs to be drilled into the minds of all card designers to prevent runaway power creep. Konami needs to think of both why and why not a card would be played. If there is no reason not to play a card, it is too powerful and it needs to be restricted.

Considering you can just search divine Lance and use it to instantly get a tuner then use anything to get a dragon to it's links say instant fusion or synchro Summon to Summon from hand. If the card was restricting only to synchro summoning then the card wouldn't be as playable (considering it searches divine Lance. It's good enough) but the way it's stated means the only thing I can't use the summoned Monster for is a link summon so I can understand why this card says both "from the hand" and "cannot be used as link material" but I would of like it to have an effect

They allowed the Invoked field spell to have that, so why not Romulua. That way, Ascalon could be a better boss monster and aid in your establishing domination

@@luminous3558 If you have divine lance in hand and dux/senatus/mystletainn get veilered you can use it to equip couse/phalanx from the deck. It's not perfect but it's a good card.

This is a really great card. Also, i love how Dragunity Knight ascalon is seeing a lot of play because of it's DAD effect and because it can be easily summoned with guard dragons or kuse. NOW, what we really need I'd another dux that doesn't waste a normal summon and we will be good.

I run a combo with Dragunity Legion, Aklys, and Scrubbed Raid. I just constantly send Aklys to the grave to end my opponent’s battle phase and then use Legion to return it to the field as an equip card. It’s works even better when equipped to a monster like Senatus. It may not be the best card because of it’s generally slow speed, but it has its merits.

The problem is, if you managed to summon Romulus, that means yoy already have a Dragunity tuner in grave to use with Dux (or Alternatively you used a Divine Lance on him and get a tuner from deck). Searching Ravine at that point is a bit pointless, outside of spamming the field with Barcsha when Ascalon falls. If it gave a second normal aummon or atleast said "The effects of dragunity monsters you control cannot be negated", then it would genuinely have a famtastic usage. But right now, that Whore Needlefiber allows the deck far more plays

Needlefiber is the Konami card of the decade. I remember when Chaos Emperor dragon entered the game. I legit stopped wanting to play. Its just one of those cards. But if Konami makes *balanced* support like Romulus for more archtypes, i feel the diverse Meta we had Eaely 2018 would stick around longer.

Better combo is to go for Barcha instead of gae daerg using koseand senatus, can get up to 3 tuners back, which can be used for romulus, elpy and pisty, do the redmd nonsense, use agarapain go into a gae daerg, and so on.

because most of the winged-beast are non-tuners and would rather be normal summoned. The dragons on the other hand typically are either tuners or monsters you would rather special summon. And with an archetype focused on synchro climbing, you typically want more tuners than non-tuners. Who you summoning with his effect that's a winged-beast but isn't a brick without this guy?

this card is garbage. i have been playtesting this thing since its reveal in pure dragunity and it just doesnt... DO anything. those rescources are better spent on summoning ascalon. also, dragunity legion is the card keeping your board alive when the opponent counters your plays. its a but slow, but its better than this thing.

The link is honestly pretty good. It makes Senatus actually work without cutting your legs and force you to play Borrelsword, which is still unconventional since you probably want to go first into Crystal Wing/Savage Borreload and other good stuff. You do, however, need to put Guardragons regardless. They are just amazing for how generic they are as Dragon support. It may not be pure, but who cares? You now have a reason to say that Dragunity is a decent deck, instead of the hot garbage that has been for several years now.

@Orga777 i should probably emphasize that my locals only plays the pure format we invented. dragunity are a very consistent deck in pure format, but they are predictable as all hell. i ln this format, i just cannot find a use for Romulus.

@Orga777 well, you arent wrong, it certainly isnt an official format, but its also not very casual either. and you are right, this thing is very good in the standard format. at my locals people make their decks as competetive as possible while sticking to the pure format rules and custom semi-annual banlist. we have about 20 meta decks at the moment, you never really know who is going to take first in our tournaments, its crazy, but way more balanced and fair than the current meta.

@Orga777 i believe there's more to it than that. price and balance are 2 huge factors that make people quit the game, now they have an option to keep playing the game they love. its not like we dont know how to play the game. we understand even the most divisive and complicated rules and interactions. i mean, nobody says MTG's Pauper players are casual and cant get better at the game because they have their own non-standard format. its kinda like that. also, thanks for keeping it civil, sometimes this community can be pretty toxic, its nice to see respectful people.

(and for the meta, its cancer anyway you wait, you fall asleep, and when you wake up you lost cause the opponent killed you or placed a lockdown you can't remove. the last time i saw interesting meta matches was ..... oh.. never.... cause there are no intersting matches)

So i dont understand the point of your second comment. But the last Meta match that was interesting was probably with World Chalice in the European YCS midway this year. Where he pulled a comeback out his ass where it was a back and forth 3rd game and both players exhausted their resources. Its was a Italian player playing World Chalice versus Magicians at their Peak.

Ricardo Torres no, that wasn't interesting. well, maybe its just cause i play since ygo was released in europe but something like that isn't rly interesting, where decks exist that can fill a complete extra link with just 1 cards (and nope something like this isn't interesting and some comebacks like you mentioned also aren't anymore, not with these kind of decks. decks where you know, "oh he plays that, where did i saw it the last time... oh, in the internet, where he got it from" knowing that he didn't completly made it himself, or that there is a over 90% chance that the deck isn't unique in the whole YCS makes it pretty boring for me, i like to see decks i dunno that aren'T close to meta but still strong and have builds i never saw before.)

@@Reikosamaa However there is a problem with that way of thinking whats boring and whats fun in competitive. World Chalice hadnt been relevent at that point for almost a entire year. So the World Chalice pick was pretty spicy. On top of that his deck was original because he played select tech card choices over what had risen to tops with WC before. The point though is that its unrealistic to have anything non-meta smash at a major event outside of that shock tourney that Six Sams took first in earlier this year when gate went to 1 and he red/blue combo'd decks into the dirt with a spicy exodius to put all his material from grave back into deck.
