Bhai Shakoor, Altaf, and camera man, where do these plugs come from? Are these purposefully placed at the time the manhole is installed or is this solidified debree/junk?

G Bhai, When masons construct new manholes, they plug the pipes with bricks for the manhole leakage test.

I think you should always clean the rim, so the cover will be flush, and harder for people to open and put trash into.

You have to work pretty hard to do that, it’s mostly due to the construction crews that are to lazy to clean up their mess and the foreman to check everything is working properly and the bricks removed. They should be fined for it in my opinion. These gentleman bust their butts clearing them, well Atlaf does 😆

Masons plug the pipe with the inlet for the leakage test, but we have to remove the plug later, and they don't remove it.

Yes, exactly, not all manholes are the same. Most of the manholes here are shallow. It’s like a main road connects to several streets, and similarly, the main sewer line runs along the main road, while the street sewer lines have shallow manholes. The street sewer connects to the main road sewer.

We walk from one visible manhole to another and count the steps. This way, we locate the manhole.
