Correct me if I'm wrong but Dean said that he played guitar effortlessly and has a music degree. As someone who went to music school as well, I am not surprised that he can switch so fluently to another instrument and just be super incredible at playing it.

@@omramoryth He's Berklee educated, I believe, and definitely an incredible guitar player, but a lot of the right hand stuff necessary for bass isn't familiar at all to guitar players, so it's still incredibly impressive. He plays like a bassist who's known the instrument his whole life, not like a guitar player who just switched over to fill a slot. edit: whoops, not berklee educated

Darkglass amps and cabs mostly. The Dingwall does also have a distinctly bright sound as well. Cuts through the mix like a scalpel.

Too many metal bassists use distortion of some kind, which makes their instrument blend in with the guitars. More metallic (no pun intended) sound is the way to go and makes it stand out more.

One thing I love is that during the verses and chorus he plays these unique and complex lines instead of generic bass lines , and during breakdowns and guitar solos he matches his lines with the drum to double down on heaviness.
