Why use water to unclog the drain instead of just a regular snake? You keep adding water to the blocked drain which back flows a lot

The water he uses is high pressure (like a pressure washer), along with the various tips, it can cut anything blocking the drain. In this particular case, tree roots grew into the drain and blocked it. A regular snake would never work on that. Roots are tough!

I have a question. Why did you try clearing from the inside? Wouldn't it have worked better going from the other side of the pipe? Or was it a case of you didn't know where the pipe went? I do realise you can't always find the other side of the pipework, but thought you may have had a chance here?
