GREASE !!! The bane of all sewer systems worldwide. I’m a retired restaurant operator of 40+ years. We fought grease plugged drains on an ongoing basis. Restaurants are required to have grease traps (similar to septic tanks) of 5000 gallons and more. Grease traps help keep the problem on the property.

Yikes. Whoever owns that mess is gonna have to pretty much gut the whole thing. That nasty, greasy water was even seeping out from under the cabinets. It's probably inside the walls, too. Even if it didn't get into the bedrooms, all the other drywall/plaster will have to be cut out, at least at the bottom, the insulation is probably ruined, and they may even have to replace some of the wood frame. The doors are ruined, the subfloor will have to be replaced (unless it's on a slab, maybe), and of course they can forget about the carpet and padding. The aforementioned cabinets will have to be replaced, as well. The whole house will obviously have to be decontaminated and sanitized. And if they don't do it all right, the place will stink for all eternity. Not to mention if they miss any moisture, there will be mold, which is a health hazard. Oh, and, of course, all that shoddy plumbing will have to be redone, or else this is all gonna happen again. It's gonna cost a fortune to rehab that house and get it livable again. Unless insurance covers it, which I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. Even if it does, you know they won't want to pay, and even if they do, it won't be enough to cover it all. Yeah, at this point, burning the whole place down and starting from scratch is probably the easiest, safest, and even cheapest option, lol. Not sure it was really even worth paying Ollie to fix it. But, who knows, I guess. EDIT: I wonder if the owners could get damages from the original, terrible plumber? He'd probably just say the grease, and whoever poured it, was at fault, and not him. And the courts would probably agree. I guess they could take the tenants to court. Probably wouldn't get much, though. Yeah, I'd hate to be the owner of this house. S/he really got screwed bad...

Obviously a DYI plumbing job. Definitely no permits or inspections by the Council. You'll be called back in a month to do it all again. That looks like an illegal apartment by the owner to grab more cash.

@@bangerszn823 why do you say that? I just noted that the plumbing didn't look professionally done. Unless... you're the home owner. Hmmm?

I once got chatting with the guy pumping my septic tank, I asked him if he ever got used to the smell; his response was that septic tanks are nothing compared to restaurant grease traps. So a toilet/septic full of grease must be the ultimate unholy combination.

@@minoan438 As soon as it hits the drain it goes cold and lumps up. Honestly, it's not fine. Never put grease nor wipes down the drain. It may take a while but it will build up and block it.
@TheCUTTERbyPHOENIX4 жыл бұрын
@@minoan438 how long and complicated are your pipes ? how long does the water take to go from source to the main ? how long does it take to actually get "enough hot and soapy" water to the end of your private plumbing ? Do the math.. think it twice be fore ever throw oily/greasy content down your pipe, next time ... Personally since i started watch this channel, i don't ever let a cup of oil get down the drain nor wipes ! left alone roots..

I’m pretty sure where I live there is no where to put grease. We all tip it into the sink with hot water. Unless there’s something I’m meant to do with it?..
