Hello, just arrived at the dam where I was 1 year ago. Most of the time it was opened, but 1 month ago beavers started to build it again. I decided that it should be drained. Because behind the corner there are lands, where tractors struggles to harvest various plants.

One thing i find very intriguing is that no matter how much water is held behind the dam ,when you cut into the dam it doesnt just erode and fall apart with the rushing water unlike any dam built by humans that just collapse when the water gets through them.i think our engineers need to learn from beavers

Another one where you show the dam and I am thinking, Oh that's not so big. Then you go and stand in front of it and I just go "Damn that's big!". I would have liked to see you get this one to collapse but digging out the mud at the front of the dam would have been a huge amount of work. LOL at 8 minutes in I was thinking "time for the shovel" and you went and got it! Great job with this one. You definitely let the water do a lot of the work for you by digging out the backside of the dam like that! I could see the water eating away at it. Man there was a LOT of water behind that dam. Those beavers are going to be upset with you for this one!

Hey Papa, when the dam is initially built, do the beavers return to add more mud and sediment behind the dam to strengthen the dam, because it looked liked there was a lot more mud and debris to move once you got rid of the sticks ??

Great job 👏 in dismantling the beaver dam. Would you consider setting traps in permanently trapping the pesky beaver 🦫 They are so descriptive and damaging to the land
@The_Mess85
@The_Mess85 Жыл бұрын
It's a testament to how well beavers built dams that even damaged as it is it still holds up. I just wish more land owners would see the benefits beaver dams can bring if the water levels are controlled with flow control devices though. As all the water they help store helps reduce the effects of droughts, slows down floods and helps keep carbon in the soils.

Great content , we in England have just released beavers into the wild and I love that . Just wondering how quickly our farmers will be happy about it though! There could be a great demand for you here soon. I would like to request you film upstream / downstream more often and maybe put a painted post upstream, so we can judge the water level drop Great work Jon
