I just gave up on the old ones and pump mine full of VINEGAR for long-term storage. After long-term storage, I believe its' generally a good idea to run a couple of cycles with vinegar first anyways. Then a pot of water. Then shebang!

Thanks for this. Like everyone else I was just about to take mine apart to drain for storage. This little truck worked just fine!

When I first got my Keurig 2.0 and saw the "More Water, Please" notice, I said, "Well... Okay, since you're so polite about it."

I'm not sure if this drains ALL the water. I only got 2 oz. from doing this. Previously I proved the machine holds at least 6 oz. internally, by filling the reservoir with apple cider vinegar. My 1st 6 oz. cup was 100% clear hot water out of the machine. 2nd cup was vinegar water. The pump probably can't get everything if there isn't continuous fluid.

Not really sure what you actually did. Was the drain to the reservoir blocked?
