The Weeknd did the radio station idea so much better on his album Dawn Fm, i agree that he started strong but it dips 3 songs in picks up at the Cole feature then it falls again and never picks up, him taking time to release some songs off the album as singles would have been better. The Sexy Red feature should have been a cut he gave to sexy red for her to release with him as a feature, it falls within her image best it’s def going to go in the club and strip clubs because of how dreamy the production is and how the song counters that with a club flow

Which is why I hate fan service. I love Tupac and Jay z for slightly different reasons. Tupac in his Makaveli mixtape era felt like he kept evolving, and as you know a rapper’s discography was largely autobiographical, an artistic expression of their struggle. And Pac kept going though shit and putting himself through shit (like Jordan would make stuff up to “put another log on the fire”). This kept his music very interesting and relevant at the same time. It was almost non algorithmic, his growth as an artist, since his situations, his relationships, his growing list of enemies, his honesty and immaturity gave us something we’d probably never see again in real music. Jay-z is somewhat similar. He rapped about his relationships but it was more suit and tie, more corporate. His growth was from selling on the streets to becoming partial owner of a team, to becoming a sport’s agent, marrying that girl, having kids, what it’s like being black and trading with white wigs, etc. He was one of the best at making money in a variety of ways and rapped about it in a unique yet autobiographical way (imagine white CEOs doing the same thing, and not just a band with no corporate experience). So it’s sad to see Drake take this lane of fan service. The individual experience, expressed artistically, is the rarest thing one can find on Earth. Instead we’re getting popular opinion and requests congealed into wax.

The track with Partynextdoor (my fave), Drake’s verse on Another late nite (love), and 21’s verse was actually decent. And wish the Bad Bunny track was longer. @forthelasttime4005 Жыл бұрын
It's due to his colossal success in the 2010s. He solidified his credibility with albums like Take Care and Nothing Was The Same (which are considered classics by most Hip-hop fans), broke the industry in the latter half of the decade with commercial success through singles like Hotline Bling, Passionfruit, One Dance, God's Plan, Nice for What, among others. He slaughtered each one of these tracks and actually took his work seriously. His efficiency was nearly legendary by the time he dropped Scorpion, which despite being collectively seen as mediocre, didn't really stain the rest of his already successful career. Like Anthony said in the video, he was simply too big to fail, and because of this, 4-5 years later he's still pushing out even more substance-less and mediocre work just because he can and his career won't really suffer from it. I think Drake is more of a joke at this point, but because of his 2012-2019 run he's pretty much untouchable, so this has become his biggest downfall. By the way, I'm not a Drake fan by any means, but when you're as big as he is, it's hard to avoid him anywhere you go

It does hurt that Drake can release mediocre releases and get huge 80-minute projects yearly that just do the same thing over and over again. Glad to see that this in an improvement over CLB and Honestly Nevermind, but it could be so much better if he gave an album more time in the kitchen. I know he won’t change due to how these still work commercially, but it’d be nice to see an album on the level of Take Care, NWTS or IYRTITL again. Loved the vegan cookies, though.

I was at the Drake concert early, walking through the stadium with my head down in my phone when I felt my body bump into another person's. Startled, I looked up to find myself staring into the soft brown eyes of Drizzy himself. My heart raced as I stammered out an apology, cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Embarrassinggggg," he said with a warm chuckle, his smile making my heart skip a beat. In that moment, time seemed to stand still as I tried to find my words, utterly captivated by the unexpected encounter with the superstar I had idolized for years. As the concert's soundcheck echoed around us, Drake's laughter filled the air, creating a bubble of intimacy amidst the stadium's chaos. He leaned in closer, his hand gently tilting my chin upward. "You know," he whispered, his voice sending shivers down my spine, "sometimes the best moments happen when we least expect them." Without another word, he closed the gap between us, his lips meeting mine in a tender, electrifying kiss. The world around us faded into oblivion as the music played on, and we shared a stolen, passionate moment in the midst of the concert crowd. It was a memory I would carry with me forever, the night I bumped into destiny at a Drake concert . It was 5 years later in Toronto and who would I run into besides Aubrey himself. Upon bumping into me again, he said "fancy seeing you again". I giggled remembering the moment we shared on that beautiful night. We embrace again. "I needed this" drake said. "wait how old are you" he asked. I responded with my age of 18 and he said "oopsies. 3 years past my preference" and skipped away. I started sobbing uncontrollably ripping my hair out on the street.
